Tayrona National Park is located along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains which sink into the Caribbean Sea, forming beautiful bays and inlets. The park features white sand beaches, mangroves, forests, and crystal clear waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and hiking. Within the park are also archaeological remains of an ancient Tayrona city called Chairama. The park protects important coastal and terrestrial ecosystems like dry forests, coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangroves and is part of the ancestral territory of indigenous groups in the region.
