Besides PPT files, we also develop PDF files and
worksheets for students in our courseware. In order
to optimize online classroom teaching effect, we
strongly recommend that you use PPT files in class,
while PDF files are for students’ after-class use
(preview/review).
Except test lessons, there is a worksheet with FM
audio attached to each lesson.

Types of lessons
There are 3 types of lessons in Acadsoc Phonics: Trial Lessons, Normal Lessons, and Review
Lessons. To get the best teaching and learning experience, please use ClassIn and PPT in class,
instead of PDF documents.
a) Trial Lessons
As other original courses, Acadsoc Phonics
has three trial lessons (the second and the
third trial lessons will be added soon). The
materials of trial lessons don’t differ much
from those of VIP lessons, yet with a smaller
volume, so that you could spend more time
on interacting and talking with the students.

Types of lessons
b) Normal
Lessons
the unique cartoon letters can arouse the
students' learning interests and strengthen their
associative memory of letters shape and related
words.
This is the major type of lesson. The phonics
lessons emphasize pronunciation. A typical normal
lesson consists of four parts: Let’s sing, Let’s learn,
Let’s play, and Let’s review. We’ll talk about the
teaching methods you may use in each part in
Lesson Breakdown.
c) Review Lessons
There goes a review lesson at the end of each unit,
summarizing all learning objectives. The structure of a
review lesson is different from that of a normal lesson.
▲ Let’s sing
▲ Let’s learn
▲ Let’s play
▲ Let’s review
11
Course Breakdown
The serial course consists of 52 lessons, including 51 normal lessons and 1
review lessons.

Lesson Breakdown
• According to Krashen’s Affective Filter
Hypothesis, negative emotional responses like
anxiety and boredom prevent efficient
processing of the language input. Therefore,
you can start the lesson English song to build a
relaxing and positive learning environment to
help students learn in an enjoyable
environment.
• To better prepare students for further learning,
you can lead the students shake their body, clap
hands, or sing the song with alphabet body
writing. Besides, the letter flashcard can also
a helpful tool.

Part 2 Let’s learn: Pronunciation learning is the main part of phonics lessons, which relates the
words with pronunciation so as to improve the students' spelling ability .The Key words are
presented with authentic pictures and cartoon illustrations.
15
Lesson Breakdown
Teaching instruction 2
• In this part, you need to enunciate the letter
sound to show the motions of your
mouth/tongue/breath for students to
imitate.
• You need to click to show the stokes and ask
students to do the air writing.
• It is advised to apply TPR (Total Physical
Response) to your teaching to give orders and
explanations to students because physical
activities contribute to students’ active
participation and longer retention.
16

Part 3 Let’s play: : Various learning and listening activities are provided to facilitate interactive
teaching and help students to identify and use the letter sounds. It also consolidate the
vocabularies and language structures.

Lesson Breakdown
• Since the purpose of this part is
reinforcement, repetitive drills are
necessary to ensure effective learning. To
avoid learning fatigue, you can also use
your own props, such as printed pictures
and toys, to keep students focused and
increase their interactivity.
Teaching instruction 3
• In addition, you can model to show students
how to do a learning activity when they have
difficulty understanding the verbal
instructions.
23
Lesson Breakdown
Part 4 Let’s review: : At the end of each class, students are expected to recap what they have
learned from the lesson. We develop lots of chants to help students review the content.
24
Lesson Breakdown
Teaching instruction 4
• You can reward students with the virtual trophies
in ClassIn or your own props to give them
encouragement.
• It takes a bit longer for students of basic level to
respond, so please be patient and use your smile,
proper tone of voice and enthusiasm to create a
cordial learning atmosphere.
• Before finishing the lesson, you can give
comments with constructive advice on students’
learning performance and encourage them to
leave five-star reviews for this lesson.
Pedagogics
Referable Teaching Methods
• Freirean Approach
Prepare some content-related questions before
class and ask your student to answer when
distraction occurs. For example, prepare a toy
bear and then ask your student to answer
“What is this?”.
• TPR
You could properly exaggerate you gesture
or rise your tone when showing your
student the motions of the
mouth/tongue/breath when teaching how
to pronounce the words, or when
instructing them to say ‘yes or no’ in TPR
exercises of part 3.

Descriptors of supportive teacher-student talk
1. Extend teacher-student exchanges by asking follow-up questions that can lead to
active student participation and negotiation of meaning.
2. Give student time to think and hold back from immediately providing the desired
wording.
3. Use the student’s wording as a basis for modeling and reformulating new language
to make his/ her language more complete and explicit.
4. Have student explain orally how he/ she solved a problem to check on the
reasoning process and recast what the student has said.
5. Listen to what the student is saying (not only for the “prescribed” answers you
have in your head) and respond accordingly.
6. Keep a good balance between “open” and “display” question.
