The primary goal of this research was to investigate AOU students' conceptions of the quality of online experience through the learning management system in supporting their classroom tutorials. A 32-item questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected sample (205) of Elementary Education students at the AOU Jordan Branch. On one hand, the results showed that the objectives of the courses were very clear to students, online materials on the learning management system were interesting and supported to classroom learning, students preferred online quizzes, the online materials supported key assessment tasks and tutors provided continuous access to relevant information about assessment. On the other hand, the findings revealed that the online materials and e-activities were too loaded for the students to understand thoroughly, and much of the feedback they received from the tutor was not helpful. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences among students’ views of BL or their overall satisfaction of the online experience that could be attributed to gender or academic achievement level. Results suggest some pedagogical implications for tutors and programmer coordinators.

Current Issues in Curriculum Development in the Philippines
K to 12: Its Implications across the Curriculum
Focused on Private High School -- Miriam College High School
A lot of issues were raised about the implementation of K-12 in the Philippine education system. Many are worrying that it might not be effective. Others think that it won’t make any improvement. But in the case of Miriam College High school, they are looking positively for its results. Upon hearing both facts and opinions from a number of resources, the researchers think that its implementation can result in large benefits to the society of the Philippines and its citizens. There will be problems because of the changes in the curriculum but the researchers believe that Filipinos will cope up soon. They’ll learn, in no time, to make the best out of the skills they’ll acquire through the changes. Better education system will bring better and more responsible citizens. Better citizens will lead to a better country.
The last 25 years have witnessed a growing number of proposals and efforts to help high schools better prepare their students for a world vastly different from the one that gave rise to this American institution. Any observer can see that the students who enter high school, their families, their future employers, and the broader society have all changed far more than have the high schools themselves. Students come from more diverse backgrounds than ever before, traditional two-parent families are an ever-smaller share of the overall population, technology and new organizational models have infused the modern workplace, and local communities are increasingly affected by events in the larger global community. Even as these changes have swept across American life, the high school has remained largely unchanged.
This paper summarizes proposals to bring the high school more in line with the challenges it faces today, highlighting common themes and barriers to their successful implementation. It follows a companion paper that puts forth a conceptual framework for approaching the issue of students' transition from high school to college and work. That review establishes that high schools, postsecondary institutions, employers, parents, and students all share responsibility for how well students manage those difficult transitions. It also highlights the importance of enhancing student motivation to improve student' success in pursuing their postsecondary aspirations. This paper examines in greater depth the role that the high school might play in easing the transitions to school, work, and citizenship and in motivating students to pursue excellence. This focus on the high school, however, does not diminish the importance of changes that must occur in the other institutions noted above. Indeed, many of the changes that high schools may need to undertake will require the assistance and cooperation of other institutions.
The reform proposals summarized in this paper seek to identify the most productive elements that these three visions either have in common or are complementary and to unify them in a coherent manner. Each emphasizes one or even two of the three visions, but strives to embrace elements of all three. The reform proposals range from those that exist only in the realm of theory to those that have resulted in vibrant networks of high schools working to implement new ideas.
As the following discussion explains, although these reform proponents approach high schools from unique perspectives and offer different solutions, they all arrive at the same two key objectives for high school reform. Thus, all of these reform proposals begin with a core curriculum that students must master before they graduate from high school.

Correlation of Teaching Competencies among Science and Non Science Majors and...ijtsrd
The respective roles of teachers and students in teaching and learning science have become at present on of the most important domain of science education. Thus this study was conducted to determine the teaching competency of science and non science teachers in teaching science and how it is related to student's level of mastery of science concepts in selected public secondary school in Northern Samar. This study also tried to find out the significant relationship between the teaching competence of the respondents and the student's level of mastery of science. The significant difference between the teaching competence of science and non science majors was also determined in this study as well as the significant difference in the level of mastery of science concepts between students under a science major and those who are under non science teachers. Each geographical area of Northern Samar was represented the pacific area the central area and the balicuatro area. The respondents of the study included the science and non science teachers of the said schools, chosen randomly through fishbowl method, and the students under these teachers which were chosen through random sampling method. This study utilized the descriptive correlational research design and questionnaire as its main instrument. The level of competency of teachers was found to be “highly competent†in terms of their teaching skills, classroom management and majority indicated “competent†in terms of knowledge. On the other hand, a majority of the students were found to be “low†in terms of their level of mastery in science concepts. A significant relationship was indicated between the teaching competency of teachers and student's level of mastery. Similarly, a significant relationship was found out on the test of difference between the teaching competence of science and non science majors in teaching science subjects as well as to the level of mastery of science concepts between students under science and non science major teachers. Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School is a public school that was founded in 2014. The school initially served students in grades 6-8, but after receiving a $10 million grant from Emerson Collective in 2017, the high school wing of the institution was opened. This allows Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School to see students all the way through to receiving their diplomas after graduation.

Abstract
The largest majority of the students who manage to enter the universities for their advanced
education seem to have secured their qualifications, in parallel, from two distinct schools of
learning: “the day school” and the “tuition classes”. These two schools are starkly distinct
from each other as the day schools offer, basically, curriculum-centred education in the
subjects whilst the tuition classes offer, basically, practical skills based on revision of the past
question papers.
Since recently, the university lecturers have started making a distinction between students
who come predominantly from schools that offer curriculum-based education and those
others who come predominantly from tuition classes.1
The aim of the present research is to identify the academically significant distinguishing
features of these two categories of students and investigate if one category of the students is
better in their attitude and aptitude towards academic education than the other category of
students.
For the purpose of the study, the data and information have been gathered from structured
surveys conducted at universities and other institutions of advanced education. For the same
purpose, the unstructured data and information have also been gathered from
lecturers/teachers from similar institutions of learning.
The analyses show that there is comparatively better attitude and aptitude towards academic
education amongst students who came predominantly from schools that offered curriculumbased education than that when concerning the other category of students.
However, it must be added that this distinction is the greatest during the first year of the
studies. During the second and the third year of the studies, the distinction between the two
types of students tends to ebb away.
Thus, it is important to be mindful about this distinction in their attitude towards academic
education between the two types of students and prepare subject curricular and syllabi to help
bridge the gap in the course their education.
1
Most students seem to secure education from both the types of schools, simultaneously. However, in
this paper, makes a distinction between students who follow comparatively more the education offered by
schools that offer curriculum based education and those other students who follow comparatively more the
education offered by tuition schools that rely on question-answer based system of education.
