Abstract
The pointof thislessonistointroduce six shapes.These shapesare circles,ovals,squares,
rectangles,triangles,andstarts.These lessonsare builttoaccommodate a kindergartenclassroomina
publicschool with9 boysand 6 girls.There are 2 studentswithIEP’s,1 studentwithADHDand one
studentwithmildAutism.The shapeswillbe implementedthroughafive dayunitplan.The firstdaywill
be an introductiontothe assignment.Iwill use amanipulative thatIcreated.Thismanipulative isa
posterI createdforthe studenttogeta goodvisualizationof shapes.Thentheywill getreal world
experience bylocatingshapesinadigital image.Tuesdaythe studentswill watchaYouTube video,cut
out shapesandobserve arobot.Wednesdaythe students will create theirownposteronthe computer
and thentheirassignmentswill be postedonFacebook,Twitter,andWikispacessotheirparentscansee
theirwork.On Thursday,the studentswillwatcha videoanddraw shapesinshavingcream. I will take
picturesof thisactivityandtheywill alsobe postedonFacebook,TwitterandWikispaces.OnFriday,the
studentswill wrapupthe lessonbyusingMircosoftWordto draw the shapestheyhave learned.Then
theywill use Snippingtool totake a picture of theirshapes. Next,theywill listentoapodcastdescribing
funfacts aboutshapes.Theywill thenbe askedtocome up withsome of theirownfunfacts andshare
themusingthe ZelloApp. I will evaluate thislessonbasedonperformance inclassandtheir class
participation.
