The Scarborough Business Association brings opportunity, education and networking to the Scarborough, ON Canada business community. Scarborough is a community of 750,000 within the City of Toronto with a rich mixture of manufacturing, retail, and entrepreneurial businesses, supported by major post secondary educations.

2. Our mission

networking, providing education and opportunity.

3. Our Scarborough
• FACT: 8 out of 10 Scarborough businesses have 1-5 employees
• FACT: While the rest of Toronto has seen job growth through the
years, Scarborough has seen decreasing employment, particularly in
the manufacturing sector.
• FACT: there are numerous efforts in Scarborough by various sectors
to improve the community and the economy. We believe we are a
catalyst to bring many of these efforts together to build a prosperous
community.

4. Governance
The Scarborough Business Association is a non-profit entity, governed
by a volunteer board of directors from the Scarborough business
community. Marg Middleton is the SBA president. Andrew Petrou of
Centennial College is the vice president. The 12 directors represent
businesses large and small, retail, industry and anchor institutions in
Scarborough.

6. Our launch
The SBA came into being after the Scarborough Community Renewal
report called for establishment of a business organization to represent
Scarborough business interests. A meeting was called with business
community leaders and the Scarborough Business Association was
formed, officially launching to a full house in Oct. 2015.

8. Community leadership
Although only operating a short time, The SBA is represented on many
community committees and is consulted for many reasons. We believe
strong community partnerships grow a stronger community. Here are

9. SBA events
The SBA hosts low-cost high-opportunity events
designed to encourage partnerships among Scarborough
businesses and providing business education for its
membership. These events are anchored by a monthly
breakfast meeting, held the second Tuesday of the
month.

10. Signature events
Mayor John Tory has given his support to the SBA since the beginning
and joined us for a Lunch With Mayor John Tory, a signature event we
expect will become an annual “must attend.” The event drew 300
people and received recognition by major media throughout Toronto.
