Chlamydia is a bacterial STI that can be transmitted through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Many people have no symptoms, but symptoms may include abnormal discharge or burning during urination and can appear 1-3 weeks after infection. Both men and women can be infected. Diagnosis is through a urine test or sample from the infected area. Treatment involves antibiotics and testing/treating all sexual partners. Prevention includes condom use and abstinence. UNH Health Services offers testing and treatment for chlamydia.
