RESEARCH INTEREST
Interested in studying the clinical significance of enzymes and proteins induction and inhibition in normal
and diseased states in an effort to generate targeted therapeutics.
EDUCATION
2007-2013 PhD in Biotechnology
From Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic
Engineering (KIBGE)
University of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
Supervised by Dr. Shah Ali ul Qader
Topic “Isolation Characterization and Immobilization of protease from a newly isolated
strain of Bacillus sp.”
Purpose was to isolate and study the enzyme protease much needed for pharmaceutical,
clinical and industrial research and usage, from an easily available bacterial source and to
study its entrapment in different gel supports for repeated use to help these industries with
protease availability and cost.
Outcome
 Isolation and 16rRNA sequencing of a novel protease producing strain of Bacillus
subtilis KIBGE HAS, accession number EU819145.
 Production, characterization and purification of a highly stable Ca++-Serine
dependent neutral cysteine protease.
 Immobilization of protease in the most stable cost effective support showing an
increase in enzyme activity and decrease in its utilization.
2005 MSC - Biochemistry
University of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan
First Division
Course Studied: Biochemical Neuropharmacology, Nutrition, Clinical
Biochemistry, Biochemical Techniques
