A Treasury Of Terribly Sad Stories Of Lotto Winners And...
Happiness has many different meanings however, happiness does not always come the way people
expect it to, sometimes the things that we think will bring us joy really causes stress and
unhappiness. Many people always say how "if they won the lottery everything would be perfect" or
"I can't wait till I get a real job". Studies have shown that people who actually win the lottery are not
as happy as they were before or have a high on happiness and then it's gone. After reading both
article from this week I see now that money is not everything. Studies have shown that people that
win the lottery are unhappy, some of the winners have been murdered, robbed every week,
committed suicide, lost friends, and gone bankrupt. These are just some of the things lottery winners
have experienced after they became winners of millions of dollars. ... Show more content on

A Treasury of Terribly Sad Stories of Lotto Winners and the poem Richard Cory has changed my
conception of happiness. By reading both stories it showed me how money can destroy people. I
never looked at money as being evil or even winning the lottery as being bad. However, money can
make you lose everything you have like your wife and kids especially if you pick up bad habits like
Michael Carroll who spent all his money on drugs, gambling and prostitutes which lead to the loose
of him losing his wife and daughter, sounds crazy, people would think Carroll would be taking his
family on vacation but instead got stuck on drugs and blow his money on crazy things (Treasury of

Pros And Cons Of David Perdue
First, I will begin by discussing the major and third parties of the Georgia Senate. David Purdue is a
republican member to the U.S. Senate from Georgia. Perdue was born in Macon, Georgia and was
raised in Warner Robins, where he grew up working in his family farm. Coming from a family of
school teachers, Perdue learned the importance of hard work and valued a good education at an
early age. Perdue attended Georgia Tech and earned a degree in industrial engineering. Some people
asked "Why should I vote for David Perdue?" One of his major concerns was for a nation's national
debt, which is around 17 trillion dollars and is continuing to grow more and more each day. The
federal debt is now higher than our entire GDP (Gross Domestic Product.) Perdue's ... Show more

He gave the people of Georgia a new option, someone who has experience with business that wants
to actually make a big impact on the U.S. Senate. Michelle Nunn was the Democratic candidate for
the U.S. Senate in Georgia in 2014. Nunn was born in Macon, Georgia as well. She is the daughter
of Sam Nunn. Nunn graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor's Degree. As for
Nunn's career path, she was the executive director of Hands on Atlanta, an organization in which she
helped form in 1989. Michelle is now the CEO of Points of Light, which is the largest organization
that is dedicated to service. She helps lead the organization in engaging millions of volunteers each
and every year by using their time, talent, money, and voice, to help solve pressing issues going on

One Million Dollars, That's Every American Dream
One million dollars... That's every american's dream, right? Well a million dollars isn't as good as it
seems. In fact it may make you miserable. For example, winning a million dollars could cause you
to start losing friends and family. When someone goes from poverty to royalty they're more likely to
become consented. No one likes someone consented, therefore a person can start to loose their real
friends. Now just because you're losing your good friends doesn't mean you will end up with no one.
People will only like you for your money, they will want to be around you just because youŕe rich.
But think about it. Your old friends would be there for you through good and evil, but these new
people they will stay with you and right when you are

College Athletes Should Be Paid
In America, college athletes should be paid because the NCAA is making money off them from the
sports that they are playing. They don 't have time to look for jobs or work for one because all of
there time is going into sports. If you pay them, they will stop taking money for autographs and all
the other illegal ways that they can get money. College athletes spend at least forty hours a week in
each sport that they play which makes them basically employees. Some players have even reported
that there are nights where they go to bed hungry. Paying athletes will stop them from taking illegal
money because they no longer have a reason for taking money from the school and when most
finish college they still owe the university money. The NCAA made nine hundred and twelve
million dollars last year I do not understand how they can make that much money and they 're not
the ones playing in the games. they do give money back to the universities, but where is the rest of
the money going. In an article that I found by Mark Schlabach an ESPN analyst he says. The NCAA
sends about twenty two million to its members for enhancement of academic–support programs for
Division I athletes.Mark Schlabach also says The NCAA expected to distribute one hundred and
eight million to its Division I members that participated in the men 's basketball tournament and The
NCAA distributed more than eight million through conference grants, Mark says The NCAA

Should Buying Lottery Tickets?
"More lottery tickets were spent than video games, movie tickets, books and sporting events
combined" ("Inside America"). About 1 in 2 million of those lottery tickets are winners. People
should stop buying lottery tickets every day because it's a waste of money, playing the lottery isn't
good for you because it's addictive. Winning the lottery can be scary and have financial issues.
People should stop buying lottery tickets every day because it's a waste of money. Just think, what if
your child was sick and in the hospital and you need to pay the hospital bills? You can't pay them
because you just spent all your money on lottery tickets. Another reason why buying lottery tickets
are a waste of money is because maybe someone lost their job and are worried about getting their
rent paid on time because they spent their last paycheck on lottery tickets. That person also doesn't
have money to buy a car or doesn't have the money to get gas to. That's why people shouldn't buy
lottery tickets because those are some reasons of what can happen to a person when they spend their
money carelessly.
People should stop buying lottery tickets because it can become an addiction. The effects of a
gambling addiction are crazy and it can get very bad mentally and financially. For instance, before
2005 " A woman named" Sandra Adell had never stepped foot into a casino, before one of her
girlfriends at the time a 59–year–old educator at the university of Wisconsin– Madison asked Adell

Budget Essay
The Budget: The 2015–16 budget presents Albertans with a record of $9.7–billion in new debt.
Albertans don't like the budget and many don't believe the $1.5 billion tax grab was necessary. They
don't like the increase in gasoline taxes, therefore, opposition parties are trying to balance the budget
on the backs of Alberta families.
School Construction: With the rapidly increasing population that has seen as many as 80,000 people

I would vote for Bill Smith as he's addressing a main issue our city is facing today which is reckless
spending, Bill is going to ensure that the our city will cut unnecessary spending, rein in rampant tax
increases, maximize efficiencies and stop paying millions of dollars to consultants .
What is your ward? Who are the candidates for alderman and school trustee in your ward? Choose
who you would vote for and explain why.
Ward 5 candidates:
Sarbdeep (Preet) Baidwan
George Chahal.
Tudor Dinca.
Hirde Paul Jassal.
Balraj (Raj) Nijjar.
Aryan Sadat.
I would vote for Aryan Sadat as a candidate for ward 5 as he is addressing a major problem which is
reckless spending. As our economy is decreasing , Sadat is going to make sure make our tax dollars
go to the things we need as a City and prevent reckless spending. Although some funding can come
from the federal and provincial governments, it ultimately comes from the taxpayers, Sadat said the
government spends millions of dollars off taxpayers money on wants not needs , and he will be able
to control and address this issue if elected.

He also has 6 houses in Italy his houses are located in Broni, Forte de Marmi and Pantelleria and in

People Should Not Play The Lottery
The jackpot is the most profitable game in gambling since gambling began. Over hundreds of people
give every day in different locations hoping to win the many millions they hear about on television.
But out of those hundreds from all around only a select few win, and this is why many people
continue to be broke. The lottery comes in many forms of gambling such as slot machines, scratch
tickets, and power balls, but the most common one in today's society that seems to be the most
talked about is the power ball. Even though this form of gambling is played almost everywhere so
few little places offer it but they have the scratch offs in their place that are the best for gambling in
the southern state convenience stores. Furthermore, the toll it takes on the person lives them with
self–hatred for themselves, disgust and neglect towards their family. Everyone of legal age should
not play the lottery because it is a bad idea, and the reason being is it does not benefit the economy,
it builds addiction, and it risks people's safety. Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People only play the lottery to see their money double or get spent on a good cause. Many nonprofit
organizations are constantly cut out due to low funding. For instance, church food drives are
constantly reducing how much food they send because they don't have a lot of food to give. The
numbers of people being feed can increase if everyone believed the lottery is a bad idea and not
contribute to it and put their money in a place where it would not be lost to the government. Many
homeless shelters are cramped and have little to no room for new comers, leaving them to tough it
out in the winter. A basic homeless shelter tends to house up to 200, if not more people a week.
Since the lottery is a bad idea someone should think to donate some of their money to homeless
shelters to make them more spacious this is where they can see their money benefiting the

Benefits Of Beyonce Essay
Profits Profits are very important in the music industry. Like in every industry or company, profits
are what keeps them going and what keeps artists, like Beyonce, making amazing music. When it
comes to singles and albums of any kind, albums usually do much better. AN example of this would
be the single "Formation" and the album it came from Lemonade. Beyonce's single, "Formation," hit
the world like a tropical storm. Originally released Feb. 6, and performed at the fiftieth Super Bowl
Halftime, "Formation" lead her parade of debuts with points stemming from 174,000 in digital sales
and 6.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending April 28. The song was so popular that after the
super bowl halftime show, the mention of the American restaurant chain Red Lobster in the song,
"When he f*** me good I take his a** to Red Lobster," (Beyonce, 2016) increased sales at the
restaurants by thirty–three percent. In addition to being extremely influential, "Formation" won
twenty–four awards, and was nominated for twelve more, ranging from best music video to song of
the year and made over three million dollars in sales. (McIntyre I., 2016, paragraph 3) But even

success it did. Without the song, the album may not have done as well as it did, but if the debate is

when it comes to profits regarding singles and albums. The small three million dollars "Formation"

singles, "Formation" put up a good fight, but in the end, like most albums, it was no match for

Well, if you don't, you should because I can show you how by using trend lines and showing what
shoes you should buy and what type of Jordan by showing you the sales in the last couple of years.
Trend lines can help you figure what shoe to get because a trend line is a bunch of plots pointed on a
graph with a set of data, in this case, Jordan's and Adidas. The trend line shows the sales of the
shoes. Here are the results of the sales of each shoe. The AIR JORDAN 4 RETRO "CARHARTT X
EMINEM" were the top shoes sold for Jordan's and the Kanye West Yeezy 750 boosts were the top
sold for Adidas. The Jordans are sold at the rate of 21,237 dollars for each pair and the Yeezy boost
were $2,987 for each pair. Who has the highest sales? Well, the Jordan's sold 30 billion, while the
other shoes only sold 20 billion. The Winner is Jordan, these shoes won because they were the top
shoes sold in the world these shoes were the top hit and everyone had to get them because they were
the best shoes made by Jordan. The trend line can show how the sales will rise and how the trend
line will show who has a steeper increase in sales. It can show that people who are in love with
Jordan shoes will want to be these shoes because they are a sneaker head and want the latest shoes

Research Paper On Why Should College Athletes Be Paid
In 2012 the NCAA March Madness tournament generated $1,005 million dollars in revenue topping
the NFL, NBA, MLB and NFL revenues (Koba). From the money generated through these
tournaments players were given no pay even though they put their hardest in training and playing
these tournaments. Something must be given to compensate these players commitment and hard
work. In addition, coaches get paid six figures and bonuses from tournaments and games won but
players don't get a single penny. Some may disagree because, many claims that athletes are already

Andrew Rickley Analysis
Careless What separate's a person from their money is when they do not know how to stop spending,
but what keeps a person with money is when they know how to save. The different stories that I read
I learned that most people that come into a large amount of money do not know how to stop
spending. Saving money played an important role in many people's life that won the lottery, well the
ones that didn't end with them going broke after they won the lottery. Being able to buy a nice home,
car, and treat yourself to the finer things in life is cool. When you don't know when to stop that is

many things that I will be able to buy with my millions. On the other hand, most people do not think
about the money that they are spending on the tickets that they are buying. The little dollar that they
are spending starts to add up against them; Think about the other things that you would be able to do
with that dollar such as starting a savings account. Today, most people do not know the importance

always was taught to save money and not to spend your hard–earned money on frivolous things. I

Some people might say that, it's okay to spend your money on things that you always wanted. We all

Should College Athletes Be Paid?
I think college athletes should get paid because many college athletes bring in a lot of money for
their schools. Not to mention coaches already get paid millions of dollars in college sports. Being a
college athlete is a full–time job and a big time commitment. Sometimes college college athletes put
in 40 to 60 hours a week for practice, travel, and games. Not to mention they still have to complete
their work and get good grades to stay eligible to play so they are left very tired. "The NCAA will
make millions of dollars to sales of tickets and merchandise"(Should college athletes be paid). So
many people go to the events and they pay for food and drinks and other merchandise.
The players will never get any of the money. Kids all around the world spent thousands of hours in
the gym, parks just doing drills to get better at their craft. So kids don 't have lives all they do is
there craft. Those are hours that they 're not going to get back. "Most of the sports they play are a
million dollar business"(Should college athletes be paid). If it 's a million dollar business that doesn
't sound like a sport that sounds like a job, which mean kids are practicing so they can get better at
there job. Therefore deserving a paycheck.
Colleges athletes take a lot of risks when they 're out there. The NCAA make 6 billion dollars
annually. "But the players themselves don 't see any of that money, even as they risk career–ending
injuries every time that they step onto the court,

debates is the people involved in the debates don't offer any insight as to why their favorite team is

What Do They Mean? Essay
Fifteen, twenty–four, and twenty. Three numbers, what do they mean?
Well let's humor a few ideas. Fifteen percent of Americans use online dating sites, twenty–four
thousand dollars could buy you a new car, and twenty percent of people voted against their usual
party this election. Pretty interesting facts and I suppose that is what I could be referring to.
However, I am sure you know I am not writing to inform you about eHarmony's Christmas
discounts or Kia's new interior, and I am certainly not going to attempt to decipher what the hell
happened this past election.
So, what do these numbers really mean? Well, if you look deep enough, if you just try hard enough,
you might learn a little bit about this country we call home. Such as 15 percent of Americans live
below the poverty line, 24 thousand dollars is the average income for a family of four in poverty,
and over 20 percent of children living in the United States do so in poverty.
I'm sorry. Did we get off on the wrong foot? That probably didn't go the way you imagined. Well
lets try again with some new numbers. Two tenths of a percent, sixty, and one.
Now this time, I will not insult your intelligence. You know I'm not suggesting any more frivolous
ideas. These numbers command far too much respect to joke around, and represent the most
astonishing facts about American poverty of all. Last year a mere .2% of national news mentioned
the issue of poverty in America, children living below the poverty line increased

Brady Could Be My Best Friend Analysis
I think Brady could be my best friend. Brady could possibly be my best friend because he is very
magnanimous. Brady is shown to be very magnanimous on page 239 through this interaction with
his mother "I don't know if it will cost a million, Mom," he said, talking fast. "but it's going to cost a
lot, and Abby's dad lost his health insurance and... And I don't care, as long as Abby can see again."
This segment of the book displays Brady as magnanimous because the money that he won with the
million dollar throw he decides to give to someone else, which I value very much in a friend. I think
the main sending this now would be in Brady's house. This is not an ideal setting because there is
high stress and tension is running through the house. I would not visit his house because there is
nothing exciting there. On page 41 the text shows the tension in Brady's household between his
parents because of money "do you think he doesn't understand what's going on around here? Do you

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump was born in Queens New York in the year of
1946. Trump's father was a wealthy business man in the field of real–state, spending his time

was going to build his own empire just like his father (Donald Trump Biography) . With a small loan
of one million dollars from his father, Trump moved to Manhattan in 1971 "My whole life really has
been a 'no ' and I fought through it, it has not been easy for me, it has not been easy for me. And you
know I started off in Brooklyn, my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars" (Jeremy
Diamond. 2015.). Many people criticize him for this commit because one million dollars is not
"small", one million dollars today was about 6.8 million dollars in 1971. When first moving to

What Is My Crime? I At Wal Mart Essay
am ashamed. I never realized that I was such a bad person. I have sinned against my community and
my fellow townspeople on a regular basis. What is my crime? I shop at Wal–Mart. According to one
train of thought, I 'm helping destroy Main Street U.S.A. by shopping at a predatory national chain.
But am I really?
As of 1994, Wal–Mart had 2,504 stores across the U.S. and was expected to open 125 more that year
(Ortega 205). Wal–Mart stores do over $67 billion dollars in annual sales (Norman 207). A Wal–
Mart store in Iowa, after being open for two years and building its base, can generate $10 million a
year in sales. A Wal–Mart store planned for Greenfield, Mass. would have employed 274 people
(Anderson 218) or 240 people (Johnston 222), depending on which source you read. Discount stores
like Wal–Mart allow small to medium towns with little population growth to hold customers to the
local shopping area by cutting down on trips by locals to bigger urban areas with lower prices
(Stone 210). With all of these benefits, why would anyone be upset about a Wal–Mart store opening
in their town?
The concerns against Wal–Mart all seem to focus around one main concern: Wal–Mart and similar
stores have changed American retailing, and the protestors don 't like the change. Albert Norman,
the best known anti–Wal–Mart advocate, claims that Wal–mart represents "... an unwanted shove
into urbanization, with all the negatives that threaten small town folks" (209). This urbanization

Does Mankind Do It For Greed And Self-Interest?
Civilization, as a whole, has progressed at an astounding rate since the first known colony was
formed in Mesopotamia more than six thousand years ago. Technology and medicine being two of
the main accomplishments of man kind. With all these advances and achievements, the question
often arises, does human kind do it for survival or "incentives", or does humankind do it for greed
and "self–interest". What is greed? Greed, in my opinion, is an act strictly to serve his or her wants.
For example, if someone won a million dollars, a greedy person would think only of what he/she
would buy themselves with that money, new clothes or a new car. They are not thinking about
bettering their daily lives or helping those in need for a greater cause. This greed or self–serving
attitude has also driven civilization to some advances and achievements. The million dollars does go
to a car and new clothes but those purchases drive a work force and create jobs. Peoples need for
money drive certain individuals to go to college for a better education because without it they would
not have the same opportunities to make more than minimum wage in order to have a better life.
Incentive, or working towards a goal for a reward, is to better someone's life or the lives of people
around them. Take that person who won the million dollars for example, greed would blind them
into personal gain, the person with incentive could have a goal of using that money to pay off bills,
or buy clothes for kids,

Should NFL Players Be Paid By Athletes Overpaid?
IF you don't think athletes are overpaid your whole opinion about that will change after reading this.
There is no reason a person should be paid over 20 million a year unless they discover something

NFL players getting overpaid so its very bad on the payroll. The NFL and NBA need to get paid less
with there association it is very bad with there system.

Why Did The North Win The Civil War Essay
Over the past hundred years, there has been some controversy over the idea of the reasons why the
North/Union won the civil war. Some people may say the North won because they had better
strategies, while others will say it was because of how big the Union was. But let it be heard from
this point forward that the North won the civil war because the North had better resources, way
more troops, won the Battle of Gettysburg, had better strategic and noble generals, and was always
on the offensive during the war.
Firstly, the North had won the civil war because the North had the advantage of better resources.
These resources would allow the Union to make money that could be used to better everything they
needed in the war. This seriously impacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, because the South was on the
defensive, and was forced to retreat back into the South. This caused the North to close the gap
between them and the South. Gettysburg was also very important because of the amount of soldiers
the confederates lost. NPS.gov wrote about the Battle of Gettysburg, and stated, "the battle turned
against Lee on July 3rd, and with few options remaining, he ordered his army to return to Virginia.
The Union victory at the Battle of Gettysburg, sometimes referred to as the "High Water Mark of the
Rebellion" resulted not only in Lee's retreat to Virginia, but an end to the hopes of the Confederate
States of America for independence"(NPS.gov). This agreeing with me and saying that this battle
changed the status of the war, and in favor of the North. This battle made the South retreat back into
their territory and eliminated their hopes of ever declaring independence from the North. The South
also lost a good chunk of their army during Gettysburg, and because of how little their army was,
they were never able to recover from those losses. Gettysburg was a major reason in the North
winning the Civil War, and turned the South's advantage into the

Lance Armstrong Oral: Structure Of The Oral

Structure of the Oral
Armstrong
Lance Armstrong, the man who won the Tour de France seven times in a row. The roided up guy
who beat other roided up guys in with helmets on. The man who survived brain surgery, testicular
cancer and falling off a bike. The man who founded the Livestrong Foundation, a foundation which
has raised over 500 million dollars for cancer without pressuring people into pouring ice over their
heads. And while raising money after five rounds of chemotherapy, got with her (point at screen)
while looking like this (show image of Voldemort, then bald Lance). Truly hero material.
A hero is defined as a mythological or legendary figure endowed with strength and ability. A hero is
an illustrious warrior, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She states that: "I hate him for lying and deceiving, and proving that he is not an immortal athlete,
and for rendering my proudest piece of writing irrelevant." Despite being a liar, cheat, egomaniac,
and arrogant bastard, the man went to the White House, had supper with the president and advocated
for cancer. He did this for the people, this guy doesn't work for the media. He was manipulated by it,
the doping story was magnified beyond recognition. In terms of being a hero, it is not about the
drugs, nor the sport, but what it means to be human. It is about the people, and representing hope for
those who are fighting against the odds. Lance was the embodiment of hope for all the people
attached to bags of chemicals. Inspiration to fuel the desire to have a good life after cancer. Lance's
story is the kindle for the fire of life.
If Lance Armstrong did not win the Tour de France, it is almost certain that another roided up dude
would have. Essentially, Lance was the best roided up man, and he had survived testicular cancer.
Of course it is arguable that his team won it for he couldn't do it alone, but there is always that
superhero of a sport. The forwards in football, the quarterbacks in NFL all take credit as heroes.

  • 1. A Treasury Of Terribly Sad Stories Of Lotto Winners And... Happiness has many different meanings however, happiness does not always come the way people expect it to, sometimes the things that we think will bring us joy really causes stress and unhappiness. Many people always say how "if they won the lottery everything would be perfect" or "I can't wait till I get a real job". Studies have shown that people who actually win the lottery are not as happy as they were before or have a high on happiness and then it's gone. After reading both article from this week I see now that money is not everything. Studies have shown that people that win the lottery are unhappy, some of the winners have been murdered, robbed every week, committed suicide, lost friends, and gone bankrupt. These are just some of the things lottery winners have experienced after they became winners of millions of dollars. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Treasury of Terribly Sad Stories of Lotto Winners and the poem Richard Cory has changed my conception of happiness. By reading both stories it showed me how money can destroy people. I never looked at money as being evil or even winning the lottery as being bad. However, money can make you lose everything you have like your wife and kids especially if you pick up bad habits like Michael Carroll who spent all his money on drugs, gambling and prostitutes which lead to the loose of him losing his wife and daughter, sounds crazy, people would think Carroll would be taking his family on vacation but instead got stuck on drugs and blow his money on crazy things (Treasury of Terribly Sad Stories of Lotto Winners ... Perdue was born in Macon, Georgia and was raised in Warner Robins, where he grew up working in his family farm. Coming from a family of school teachers, Perdue learned the importance of hard work and valued a good education at an early age. Perdue attended Georgia Tech and earned a degree in industrial engineering. Some people asked "Why should I vote for David Perdue?" One of his major concerns was for a nation's national debt, which is around 17 trillion dollars and is continuing to grow more and more each day. In fact it may make you miserable. For example, winning a million dollars could cause you to start losing friends and family. When someone goes from poverty to royalty they're more likely to become consented. No one likes someone consented, therefore a person can start to loose their real friends. Now just because you're losing your good friends doesn't mean you will end up with no one. People will only like you for your money, they will want to be around you just because youŕe rich. But think about it. Your old friends would be there for you through good and evil, but these new people they will stay with you and right when you are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. College Athletes Should Be Paid In America, college athletes should be paid because the NCAA is making money off them from the sports that they are playing. They don 't have time to look for jobs or work for one because all of there time is going into sports. If you pay them, they will stop taking money for autographs and all the other illegal ways that they can get money. College athletes spend at least forty hours a week in each sport that they play which makes them basically employees. Some players have even reported that there are nights where they go to bed hungry. Paying athletes will stop them from taking illegal money because they no longer have a reason for taking money from the school and when most finish college they still owe the university money. The NCAA made nine hundred and twelve million dollars last year I do not understand how they can make that much money and they 're not the ones playing in the games. they do give money back to the universities, but where is the rest of the money going. In an article that I found by Mark Schlabach an ESPN analyst he says. The NCAA sends about twenty two million to its members for enhancement of academic–support programs for Division I athletes.Mark Schlabach also says The NCAA expected to distribute one hundred and eight million to its Division I members that participated in the men 's basketball tournament and The NCAA distributed more than eight million through conference grants, Mark says The NCAA distributes more than one hundred and ... • 5. Should Buying Lottery Tickets? "More lottery tickets were spent than video games, movie tickets, books and sporting events combined" ("Inside America"). About 1 in 2 million of those lottery tickets are winners. People should stop buying lottery tickets every day because it's a waste of money, playing the lottery isn't good for you because it's addictive. Winning the lottery can be scary and have financial issues. People should stop buying lottery tickets every day because it's a waste of money. Just think, what if your child was sick and in the hospital and you need to pay the hospital bills? You can't pay them because you just spent all your money on lottery tickets. Another reason why buying lottery tickets are a waste of money is because maybe someone lost their job and are worried about getting their rent paid on time because they spent their last paycheck on lottery tickets. That person also doesn't have money to buy a car or doesn't have the money to get gas to. That's why people shouldn't buy lottery tickets because those are some reasons of what can happen to a person when they spend their money carelessly. People should stop buying lottery tickets because it can become an addiction. The effects of a gambling addiction are crazy and it can get very bad mentally and financially. • 10. People Should Not Play The Lottery The jackpot is the most profitable game in gambling since gambling began. Over hundreds of people give every day in different locations hoping to win the many millions they hear about on television. But out of those hundreds from all around only a select few win, and this is why many people continue to be broke. The lottery comes in many forms of gambling such as slot machines, scratch tickets, and power balls, but the most common one in today's society that seems to be the most talked about is the power ball. Even though this form of gambling is played almost everywhere so few little places offer it but they have the scratch offs in their place that are the best for gambling in the southern state convenience stores. • 12. Benefits Of Beyonce Essay Profits Profits are very important in the music industry. Like in every industry or company, profits are what keeps them going and what keeps artists, like Beyonce, making amazing music. When it comes to singles and albums of any kind, albums usually do much better. AN example of this would be the single "Formation" and the album it came from Lemonade. Beyonce's single, "Formation," hit the world like a tropical storm. Originally released Feb. 6, and performed at the fiftieth Super Bowl Halftime, "Formation" lead her parade of debuts with points stemming from 174,000 in digital sales and 6.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending April 28. The song was so popular that after the super bowl halftime show, the mention of the American restaurant chain Red Lobster in the song, "When he f*** me good I take his a** to Red Lobster," (Beyonce, 2016) increased sales at the restaurants by thirty–three percent. In addition to being extremely influential, "Formation" won twenty–four awards, and was nominated for twelve more, ranging from best music video to song of the year and made over three million dollars in sales. (McIntyre I., 2016, paragraph 3) But even though this is a lot of money, it was nothing compared to the album, which had not even debuted yet at the time. Whenever ... This is usually the case when it comes to profits regarding singles and albums. The small three million dollars "Formation" made compared to the ten million Lemonade made the first week proved that. Sometimes college college athletes put in 40 to 60 hours a week for practice, travel, and games. However, none of that matter much, because they had won their case, and it was time to celebrate. "I would like to offer my congratulations and thank you for your hard work." He eyed the wet conference table and the cake, his lips twitching in what Arthur realized was disappointment with such a "lowbrow" celebration, as Uther would likely state. "Please carry on." His gaze flicked to Arthur. "Can I have a word?" "Sure." Arthur gestured to his colleagues. "Go on and enjoy the cake." Uther motioned for Arthur to join him in the adjoining waiting room, but he did not close the door. "Look at your email," Uther instructed. Nope, no words of congratulations for Arthur for heading up the team that won a massive settlement. "I sent you the document detailing how the settlement will be paid out." Arthur slid his phone out of his pocket, and as he did, he saw Morgana walking into the conference room, dressed sharply for her work as a detective, her hair pulled back into a no–nonsense ponytail. She must have wrapped up work early to visit. She grinned and gave him a double thumbs–up through the window separating the two rooms. "One second," he mouthed. When Uther looked at Morgana, she spun away, ignoring him, and instead engaged Elena in conversation. Scowling, Uther said, "Back to the document." • 31. What Is My Crime? I At Wal Mart Essay am ashamed. I never realized that I was such a bad person. I have sinned against my community and my fellow townspeople on a regular basis. What is my crime? I shop at Wal–Mart. According to one train of thought, I 'm helping destroy Main Street U.S.A. by shopping at a predatory national chain. But am I really? As of 1994, Wal–Mart had 2,504 stores across the U.S. and was expected to open 125 more that year (Ortega 205). Wal–Mart stores do over $67 billion dollars in annual sales (Norman 207). A Wal– Mart store in Iowa, after being open for two years and building its base, can generate $10 million a year in sales. A Wal–Mart store planned for Greenfield, Mass. would have employed 274 people (Anderson 218) or 240 people (Johnston 222), depending on which source you read. Discount stores like Wal–Mart allow small to medium towns with little population growth to hold customers to the local shopping area by cutting down on trips by locals to bigger urban areas with lower prices (Stone 210). With all of these benefits, why would anyone be upset about a Wal–Mart store opening in their town? The concerns against Wal–Mart all seem to focus around one main concern: Wal–Mart and similar stores have changed American retailing, and the protestors don 't like the change. Albert Norman, the best known anti–Wal–Mart advocate, claims that Wal–mart represents "... an unwanted shove into urbanization, with all the negatives that threaten small town folks" (209). This urbanization appears to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Does Mankind Do It For Greed And Self-Interest? Civilization, as a whole, has progressed at an astounding rate since the first known colony was formed in Mesopotamia more than six thousand years ago. Technology and medicine being two of the main accomplishments of man kind. With all these advances and achievements, the question often arises, does human kind do it for survival or "incentives", or does humankind do it for greed and "self–interest". What is greed? Greed, in my opinion, is an act strictly to serve his or her wants. For example, if someone won a million dollars, a greedy person would think only of what he/she would buy themselves with that money, new clothes or a new car. They are not thinking about bettering their daily lives or helping those in need for a greater cause. This greed or self–serving attitude has also driven civilization to some advances and achievements. The million dollars does go to a car and new clothes but those purchases drive a work force and create jobs. Peoples need for money drive certain individuals to go to college for a better education because without it they would not have the same opportunities to make more than minimum wage in order to have a better life. Incentive, or working towards a goal for a reward, is to better someone's life or the lives of people around them. Take that person who won the million dollars for example, greed would blind them into personal gain, the person with incentive could have a goal of using that money to pay off bills, or buy clothes for kids, ... Some people may say the North won because they had better strategies, while others will say it was because of how big the Union was. But let it be heard from this point forward that the North won the civil war because the North had better resources, way more troops, won the Battle of Gettysburg, had better strategic and noble generals, and was always on the offensive during the war. Firstly, the North had won the civil war because the North had the advantage of better resources. The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, because the South was on the defensive, and was forced to retreat back into the South. This caused the North to close the gap between them and the South. Gettysburg was also very important because of the amount of soldiers the confederates lost. NPS.gov wrote about the Battle of Gettysburg, and stated, "the battle turned against Lee on July 3rd, and with few options remaining, he ordered his army to return to Virginia. The Union victory at the Battle of Gettysburg, sometimes referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion" resulted not only in Lee's retreat to Virginia, but an end to the hopes of the Confederate States of America for independence"(NPS.gov). This agreeing with me and saying that this battle changed the status of the war, and in favor of the North. This battle made the South retreat back into their territory and eliminated their hopes of ever declaring independence from the North.
