Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.

- 1. Design Smell Metrics Dependency Structure Matrix Hotspots Code Clones Console for Integration Summary Export Results Designite is a software design quality assessment tool. It detects design smells, computes metrics, and offers various features to let you identify design debt and help you improve the design agility of your C# code. http://www.designite-tools.com Designite supports identification of 18 design smells that makes it the most comprehensive design smells detection tool. Designite classifies the identified smells based on the fundamental principle they violate and points out the cause of the smell to provide a hint towards its refactoring. Designite computes object-oriented design metrics that are helpful to gauge the structural health of the software project. Designite supports metrics at various abstraction levels - Key metrics at solution-level, Key metrics at project-level, Class-level metrics, and Method-level metrics. Designite offers an interactive and simple yet effective implementation of DSM to show the dependencies (with corresponding strength) among software system entities (such as Type, Namespace, or Project) in the form of a square matrix. The hotspot analysis assigns a "Hotspot score" to each class based on the detected design smells in the class and highlights the classes that you may choose for refactoring first. Designite detects code duplication in your code and not only reports design smells based on the identified clones but also allows the users to view the individual clones to analyze them. Designite provides a console application with various options to allow integration with external tools. For instance, one can integrate Designite with SonarQube to see the design smells detected by Designite in SonarQube. Designite allows you to export the analysed information (detected design smells, computed OO metrics, and code clones) to MS-Excel sheets. This extremely useful feature allows you to share the result of the tool with other stakeholders in your team and analyse the result further. Designite analyzes design of your software and presents the summary of the analysis in a graphical form. The summary shows two bar charts that shows metric violations and detected design smells. The summary also includes total size of the software solution in LOC, total number of metric violations and design smells, and design smell density per KLOC.
