The romantic period of music began in the 1820s and with it came a change of
stylistic features. Beethoven largely impacted the new way that the music of the
Romantic era was viewed. He made people perceive music as a true form of art

Abuse is so common in today s day and age; it s used like a language. Some people
are immune to it; that s all that they have been introduced to whether male or
female. It s a language that only people who have not taken a recollection nor

Going into college almost three hours from my home town, I did not know what to
expect. I did not know how classes would go, how well I would do with making
new friends, how living in a small box with another person would be, or what I

points, learned many things about myself, and set many goals for myself.

semester of college is to do all the work and extra work you can. Doing all the work

Explore how Sheila s character develops throughout the play The play An
Inspector Calls was written in 1945, by J.B. Priestley, yet set in 1912. At this time,
society was mainly capitalist with industry and agriculture owned privately.
Wealth is not evenly shared and there is a distinct divide between upper and lower
class people. The play is set around a wealthy, upper middle class family, headed by
Arthur Birling a factory owner. In the beginning of the play, we see the family
celebrating the engagement of Sheila and Gerald, the son of Lord and Lady Croft.
This is well supported by Mr Birling who sees this marriage as a business deal, a
time where his company and the Crofts would be able to merge, benefiting the
Birling s greatly. However, we see a drastic mood change when Inspector Goole
arrives, bringing news of the suicide of Eva Smith. Sheila is the only daughter of
Mr and Mrs Birling, in the stage directions described as a pretty girl in her early
twenties, very pleased with life and rather excited , most probably from her
engagement to Gerald Croft. Sheila hopes and plans to be happily married to
Gerald. However, early in the play, Mrs Birling informs Sheila that once married
she will realise that men spend nearly all their time and energy on their business .
Yet, Sheila disagrees with this and warns Gerald, so you be careful . This shows

The novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho was about a shepherd by the name of
Santiago who, through a dream found where his treasure would lay. The author of
the book Paulo Coelho, was born in Brazil, and has written sixteen books including
The Alchemist, and has sold over one hundred and forty million books worldwide.
What attracted me to the novelwas how there was some supernatural aspects
throughout the book. The supernatural aspects made the book more enjoyable to
read, because it was different than the typical self discovery novel, there was
something unique about it. I enjoyed the book, and wanted to continue, because I
was curious to see what other events would occur throughout his journey, and what
Santiago would find. The novel was very empowering, it was motivating for the
audience to read, because of the risks Santiago takes on his journey. The author did
immensely well on showing both aspects of different peoples lives, one that took a
chance, and the other that conformed to society, and didn t follow their dreams. This
motivated the audience, because they didn t wantto be like the Crystal Merchant, they
wanted to be like Santiago. In the novel there are four important characters that
Santiago met through his voyage to the Pyramids. Most of the characters are flat and
static in the story, because they never grew as characters. The people that Santiago

At this time, society was mainly capitalist with industry and agriculture owned privately. Wealth is not evenly shared and there is a distinct divide between upper and lower class people. The play is set around a wealthy, upper middle class family, headed by Arthur Birling a factory owner. In the beginning of the play, we see the family celebrating the engagement of Sheila and Gerald, the son of Lord and Lady Croft. This is well supported by Mr Birling who sees this marriage as a business deal, a time where his company and the Crofts would be able to merge, benefiting the Birling s greatly. However, we see a drastic mood change when Inspector Goole arrives, bringing news of the suicide of Eva Smith. Sheila is the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Birling, in the stage directions described as a pretty girl in her early twenties, very pleased with life and rather excited , most probably from her engagement to Gerald Croft. Sheila hopes and plans to be happily married to Gerald. However, early in the play, Mrs Birling informs Sheila that once married she will realise that men spend nearly all their time and energy on their business . What attracted me to the novelwas how there was some supernatural aspects throughout the book. The supernatural aspects made the book more enjoyable to read, because it was different than the typical self discovery novel, there was something unique about it. I enjoyed the book, and wanted to continue, because I was curious to see what other events would occur throughout his journey, and what Santiago would find. The novel was very empowering, it was motivating for the audience to read, because of the risks Santiago takes on his journey. The author did immensely well on showing both aspects of different peoples lives, one that took a chance, and the other that conformed to society, and didn t follow their dreams.
