January 2011) thisinstitute is operatingasa“Company not Distributing
Profit”undercompanyAct 2063. It alliance withthe industriesof Nepal toprovide apprenticeship
traininginMechanical,Electrical,Weldingandcarpentry.Itprovidesshorttermand long-termtraining
programsstartingfrom 3 monthsto4 yearscourse in the above faculty.Ithas manydisciplinestooffer
to meetthe needsof useragencies.Itsintake capacityis 430 studentsincludingbothshortandlong-
termcourses.It has verygoodrecognitioninthe jobmarket.
The managingboard consistsof sevenmembersoutof whichfourare frompublicsectorand three from
the private sectors.
In our visittothe BTI we came across differentaspectof practical education.We hadan excellent
opportunitytolearnsomethingaboutdifferentkindsof mechanical,electrical equipmentandtools.
We alsocame across differentnewequipmentlike MIGandTIG welders,their scope, mechanismand
working.We alsovisiteddifferentfacultyof BTI withtheirlabinstallmentslikeMechanical,Electrical and
Welding.BTIhassome most advancedequipmentin Nepal.We came to know thatBTI as an institute
has a great practical exposure tothe students.Assaidbythe chief executive officer80% of the BTI
formatof educationinvolvespractical and20% involvestheory.
StudentsatBTI spendmostof theirtime infieldsandindustrieswhichwasveryimpressiveand
appreciable.We spentaveryknowledgeabletime inBTI.

NHE doesdifferentworksin mechanical andelectrical equipment manufacturinginvolvedinhydroand
electricpowergeneration,transmission,distribution,heavysteel structure,projectmanagementand
relatedactivitiesinthe hydropowerindustry.Itisa publiclimited companyestablishedin1985 A.D.
Theircapabilitiesinclude design,manufacturingandinstallationof hydropowerequipment,mainly
coveringvarioustypesof hydraulicgates,stoplogs,trashracks,penstockpipes,mediumsizedturbine
housings/casings,micro/miniturbinesandsubstations. Itaimstosatisfycustomerneedsinthe
manufacture,erection,testingcommissioningandthroughlife supportof equipmentinthe
hydroelectricpowerGeneration,transmissionanddistributionindustry,bybuildinguptheirown
capabilitiesandbymaximizingthe use of local.
In our visittoNHE we mainlydealtwithoursubjectmatterforthissemesterof PowerPlantEquipment
whichincludedturbines,gates,transformers,powerhouseequipmentandgenerators.
Luckily, we hadall the opportunitytosee all of those insingle place ina veryshorttime thanksto our
departmentforsucha lovelyarrangement.
