Predictive analytics uses data from the past to predict future outcomes. The analysis involves using large amounts of past data, basic statistical methods, and important assumptions. While not magic, predictive analytics can provide informative insights when done correctly. However, there are risks of errors if the analysis lacks good data, excludes key variables, or uses the wrong statistical model. For Indian managers specifically, predictive analytics can help increase sales and marketing effectiveness by providing insights into customer preferences if models are correctly developed based on comprehensive customer data and surveys.
