This document discusses the concept of freedom in Christ from multiple perspectives. It begins by exploring the freedom given to man in Genesis and how man chose to disobey God. It then discusses how righteousness and obedience to God's will leads to life, while disobedience leads to death. Several passages are presented showing how Christ offers deliverance from sin and death and brings true freedom. The document emphasizes that God does not use compulsion in His kingdom, but allows man free will to choose obedience, and that obedience to God may bring persecution from others but true freedom is found only in Christ.
The passage is a letter from John reassuring believers that though antichrists have come, signaling the last days, believers have been anointed by God and have knowledge through the Holy Spirit. John encourages believers by reminding them that though some have left the faith, showing they were not truly of them, believers have overcome the evil one and their sins are forgiven through Christ. He exhorts believers to abide in Christ by keeping his commandments and walking as he walked, and to not love the world or things of the world, which are passing away, but to do the will of God to abide forever.
The Lord Jesus makes us new creation. This is something no man or religion can do for us. He changes us at the very core of our being, gives us a new identity and power to live victorious lives.

This document is a sermon given at the Jackson Street Church of Christ. The sermon discusses counting in God's way by focusing on four key points:
1. Counting others as better than yourself by esteeming the interests of others above your own.
2. Counting what was once gain in life, such as status or possessions, as loss for the sake of Christ.
3. Counting your thoughts as supremely important since they control your life and actions.
4. Counting heaven as your true home and citizenship rather than earthly things so that you press toward the heavenly goal.
The document discusses the importance of searching the scriptures to find truth, searching yourself through self-examination, searching for an honest man of integrity, searching to understand God and his divine nature through his creation, and searching for Jesus Christ as the Messiah through carefully examining prophecies and following those who bear witness to him. The key message is that the search should continue through diligently studying the scriptures, continual self-reflection, seeking people of virtue, contemplating God in nature, and following those who point to Christ.
This document discusses the concept of slavery from a Christian perspective. It examines multiple passages from the Bible that describe believers as slaves or servants to various masters, including righteousness, sin, false gods, money, and the law. The document then focuses on Ephesians 6:5-9, which instructs Christian slaves to obey their earthly masters and Christian masters to stop threatening slaves. It emphasizes that both slaves and masters serve the same heavenly master and will be judged equally by God. Overall, the document explores what it means for Christians to be slaves or servants both spiritually and in earthly social relationships.
This sermon will look at Jesus' letter to the church at Philadelphia in Revelation 3. This is one of the two churches that received no word of rebuke from Jesus, only commendation. It was a persevering church. Jesus lavishes great promises on this church, including a new name and that they would be spiritual pillars of the church.
The document discusses Matthew 6:33 and seeks to explain its meaning. It states that Matthew 6:33 instructs believers to primarily seek God's kingdom and righteousness, and that if they do so, all basic necessities will be provided. It explores what it means to seek God's kingdom, defining it as consisting only of God's righteousness, which is revealed through faith in Jesus Christ. It emphasizes that the kingdom of God is spiritual in nature and cannot be observed physically. The overall message is that Christians should make seeking God and His righteousness their top priority and trust that God will then take care of their other needs.

A sinful woman anoints Jesus' feet with oil and tears at a Pharisee's house. When the Pharisee sees this, he thinks that if Jesus were truly a prophet he would know this woman is a sinner. Jesus tells a parable about a creditor forgiving two debtors unequal amounts to illustrate that the woman's great sins have been forgiven because she loves much, while the Pharisee who was forgiven little loves little. Jesus tells the woman that her faith has saved her, and she may go in peace.

This document discusses how Christians can restore the joy of their salvation. It begins by examining passages from Psalms and Philippians about rejoicing. It then asks whether readers have truly experienced salvation or if their joy was based on other things that could be lost. The document suggests examining one's life for unresolved sin or anger at God as potential reasons for lost joy. It encourages rejoicing in God's character, works, and salvation both privately and corporately in all circumstances, according to the example of Habakkuk. The overarching message is that Christians should rejoice in the Lord always.
This sermon explores Jesus' letter to the Church of Sardis in Revelation 3:1-6. Sardis was a city that was riding on the momentum of past greatness. However, it had passed from glory to insignificance. The church of Sardis mirrored its city, believing itself to be vibrant, but having truly passed from life to death. It provides us with an example very close to the 21st century American church... a "perfect model of inoffensive Christianity". Inoffensive in that they had cow-towed to the pagan culture all around them.

It emphasizes surrendering to God through obedience, forgiveness, submission, humility, and accountability. Key points include never facing giants alone with just human strength, but relying on God who is greater; freedom coming through confession and repentance of sins; and freedom from sin's power through submitting to God and His truth.

The document discusses the concept of being "born again" or born of the Spirit as described by Jesus. It says unless one is born of water and the Spirit, they cannot enter God's kingdom. Being born again means being born from above by God and having a spiritual rebirth. This allows a person to understand God's purposes and plan. Several passages are cited that discuss how those born of God believe Jesus is the Christ/Son of God, love God and keep his commandments, and overcome the world through faith. Being born again creates a new creation in Christ and changes a person's lifestyle, empowering them to live by the Spirit rather than their sinful flesh.
The document discusses the Christian doctrine of predestination and whether humans have control over their future destiny. It presents views that God has predetermined a person's final destiny, though not their actions, and that God declares the end from the beginning. Several Bible passages are referenced that discuss having faith in God, seeking God, God rewarding those who diligently seek him, and God predestining and foreordaining certain things.
This document is a passage from the Bible in Philippians 4:4-20 discussing contentment and God being the ultimate supplier of all needs. It discusses Paul being content in all circumstances because of God's strength and the Philippians sharing with Paul in his time of need. It declares that God will meet all needs from his riches in glory and is deserving of all praise.

I beseech you – beg, urge, encourage, appeal
By the mercies of God – compassion
Present your bodies a living sacrifice – as opposed to a sacrifice of death
Holy, Acceptable to God – pure, without spot or blemish
Your reasonable service – since Christ died for us we should live our lives for him. 2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
Maintaining a pure heart requires forgiveness of sins through obedience to God, and an ongoing process of transformation by renewing one's mind to God's teachings. It involves turning away from sinful influences, submitting to God's work within us, and sacrificing oneself while focusing on virtues. God purifies the heart as we allow Him to mold us into the likeness of Christ through His grace.

It lists several sins mentioned in scripture passages: absenteeism, indifference, worldliness, unfaithfulness, selfishness, neglect, compromise, contention, ignorance, and apathy. By separating themselves from sinful influences and overcoming these sins, churches can grow in unity and holiness.

The goal is to leave basic teachings and "go on to perfection."
Ten traits of the new man from Ephesian chapter 4. Tell the truth, don't be sinfully angry, don't give the devil ground in your life, be a hard worker not a taker, be a giver, speak words of edification and grace, don't grieve the Holy Spirit, keep away from bitterness and it's poisonous cousins, be kind and tender, be a good forgiver.
The document discusses the difference between one's old identity and new identity in Christ. It says that as Gentiles, people were darkened, alienated from God, and living futile lives. But through faith in Christ, one is made new - they put off their old self and put on the new self created in God's righteousness. The truth is found in Jesus, who died for sins and rose again. In Christ, one has a new identity as a born again person who is called to walk in their new self.
The document contains several passages from the Bible that use the phrase "Do you not know?" Each passage is highlighting something that Christians should understand, such as being baptized into Christ's death, being slaves either to sin or righteousness, and that friendship with the world is against God. The overall message is that Christians are expected to know and understand these fundamental truths revealed in scripture.

The Holy Spirit gives peace and unity among believers. This passage discusses the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, contrasted with the story of the Tower of Babel where different languages divided people. It also references Jesus' promise to send the Holy Spirit to be with believers. The Spirit allows the believers to speak in different languages and proclaim God's works, undoing the division caused by different tongues at Babel. The Holy Spirit brings unity and understanding between people from all nations.
The document provides an overview of how Christians are called to "walk worthy" according to passages in Ephesians and other books of the Bible. It discusses that believers are to walk in unity, love, light, and by being filled with the Spirit. Specific instructions are given, such as putting off the old self and putting on the new, imitating God, and walking in wisdom. The goal is for believers to mature in Christ through developing humility, gentleness, patience, and by submitting to one another out of reverence for God.
Sanctification is the process by which God separates believers from sin and dedicates them to his service. It is effected by God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Believers are sanctified through the atoning work of Christ, the word of God, and by being in Christ. Sanctification leads believers to mortify sin and pursue holiness. Ministers should pray and exhort believers to progress in sanctification, as it is necessary for inheriting God's kingdom. In the Old Testament, various people and objects were sanctified or set apart for holy use as a type of sanctification.
The document discusses the importance of being "plugged in" to the Holy Spirit. It provides several reasons why Christians need to plug into the Holy Spirit: 1) The Holy Spirit was promised by God and Jesus to help and empower believers. 2) Plugging into the Holy Spirit provides power, as the disciples received power when the Holy Spirit came upon them. 3) Without being plugged into the Holy Spirit, a Christian is like an appliance without power. The Holy Spirit helps believers witness for Christ and produces awe and signs.
Purity of mind, heart, body and life is challenging, but attainable in today's culture. Join us over the next 90 days as we explore this topic, and how Christians can become purer in every aspect of their lives.

The second baptism that God has for His children is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is the 5th foundation stone in this teaching series. How does God display His power in your life? Which gift of the Holy Spirit have you received?
The document discusses anger and how Christians should handle it. Several Bible passages are cited that teach believers to control their anger and not sin, to be slow to anger, and to put away wrath, anger, malice and slander. Christians are instructed to not let the sun go down on their anger, to speak the truth to each other, and to be kind, tenderhearted and forgiving as God in Christ forgave them.
This document contains the text of a sermon delivered at the Jackson Street Church of Christ. The sermon focuses on Ephesians 4:1-6 and discusses the purpose of the church according to this passage. It explains that the church aims to bring believers to unity in faith and knowledge of God, and to spiritual maturity as described in verses 11-16. The sermon urges listeners to fulfill their purpose by ministering to others, building each other up, and living obediently as changed people through Christ.
Genesis 47:13-15 Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. 14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. 15 So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed." There are a number of reasons that money fails.
John 3:16 is the most quoted and most remembered scripture from the bible.
Did you know that there are a number of other 3:16 verses that relate to and are very important to our spiritual lives and our living for Jesus?
Tonight we are going to look at some of those 3:16 scriptures.
Philippians 1:9-11 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Fear is common to all. We all fear something. Some fear is God given. Children come into this world with a fear of heights and of loud noises. Some fears are there to protect us from physical harm: snakes, darkness, suffocation, being burned, death, etc. In christians, most fear is a tool of satan
Brotherly love has amazed many people throughout the centuries. Love of the brethren is commanded by God. Jonah is a book about god's desire to save the lost and man's role in that. there are some great lessons taught in the book of Jonah. We will look at questions Jonah was asked in the book and ask those questions of ourselves.
we all need motivation at times. what motivates you? Paul said 5 things to the brethren at Rome to motivate them to continue their service no matter how great the suffering became. the good always outweighs the bad. the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. God's providence works for us. Judgment is on our behalf. the love of God is on our behalf.
Repentance is a change in your allegiance, your expectations, your values, your priorities, your mission and your morals. can you say there has been a change in your life since you met the Lord?
Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus would be called or known as wonderful. Wonderful in His birth. Wonderful in His miracles. Wonderful in His teachings. Wonderful in His resistance to sin. Wonderful in His accomplishing His work. Wonderful in His fulfilling prophecies. Wonderful in His sacrifice. Wonderful in His resurrection. Wonderful is His Name.

I John 2:28-3:3 Tests for Christians. Do you abide in Christ? Do you practice righteousness? Who knows you? Are you a child of God? Are you pure, just as He is pure? What is your identity?
I John 4:1-6 tests for christians 3 - the test of false teaching. Bluffing your way. Do you confess the Son? Do you listen to the Son? Do you obey the Son? Do you pass the test?
Ephesians 3:14-21 How big is your God? The ability of my God is boundless. The ability of my God goes beyond my prayers. The ability of my God is beyond my ability to imagine. The ability of my God is manifested in the lives of His people. The ability of my God is seen through His glorious church. The ability of my God is eternal.
The resurrection of jesus is a prevarication (spoken against), a plethora (great number) of witnesses, a proven fact, a purpose to save us. a plea to live worthy, a pattern for us to follow, a power from God, a promise for us, to believe in, a pledge by our savior.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2. Eph 4:17-24 This I say, therefore, and testify in the
Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of
the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, {18}
having their understanding darkened, being
alienated from the life of God, because of the
ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness
of their heart; {19} who, being past feeling, have
given themselves over to lewdness, to work all
uncleanness with greediness. {20} But you have not
so learned Christ, {21} if indeed you have heard Him
and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in
Jesus: {22} that you put off, concerning your former
conduct, the old man which grows corrupt
according to the deceitful lusts, {23} and be renewed
in the spirit of your mind, {24} and that you put on
the new man which was created according to God, in
true righteousness and holiness.
3. A NEW BEGINNING
A.New things
1. A New Year - I hope you are looking
forward to the new year
2. A New Slate - I hope you’ve learned
from the mistakes of the past and make
positive changes.
3. A New Home - I hope you are looking
forward to Heaven!
B.If we want this new home, we have to have
a new spirit, a new mind & a new heart.
4. I. A NEW SPIRIT
A. Gal 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth
the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out,
"Abba, Father!"
B. Gal 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, {23} gentleness, self-control. Against
such there is no law. {24} And those who are Christ’s
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
{25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
C. Rom 8:9-10 But you are not in the flesh but in the
Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if
anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
{10} And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because
of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
D. Will you allow your self to be controlled by God’s Spirit
in 2016?
5. II. A NEW MIND
A. Eph 4:17-24) This I say, therefore, and testify in
the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the
rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their
mind,
B. Eph 4:22-23 that you put off, concerning your
former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt
according to the deceitful lusts, {23} and be
renewed in the spirit of your mind,
C. Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which
was also in Christ Jesus, (6) who, being in the form
of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with
God, (7) but made Himself of no reputation, taking
the form of a bondservant, and coming in the
likeness of men. (8) And being found in
appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and
became obedient to the point of death, even the
death of the cross.
6. II. A NEW MIND
D. Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by
the mercies of God, that you present your bodies
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which
is your reasonable service. {2} And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that you may prove
what is that good and acceptable and perfect will
of God.
E. Col 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ,
seek those things which are above, where Christ
is, sitting at the right hand of God. {2} Set your
mind on things above, not on things on the
earth.
F. Will you set your mind on things above in 2016?
7. III. A NEW HEART!
A. Eph 4:18 having their understanding darkened,
being alienated from the life of God, because of
the ignorance that is in them, because of the
blindness of their heart;
B. Eze 36:25-27 Then I will sprinkle clean water on
you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you
from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit
within you; I will take the heart of stone out of
your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will
put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in
My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and
do them.
8. III. A NEW HEART!
C. Eze 36:25-27 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you,
and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your
filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a
new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take
the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a
heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and
cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My
judgments and do them.
D. 1Pe 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in
obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of
the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure
heart,
E. Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall
see God.
F. Will you seek to have a pure heart in 2016?
9. IF WE HAVE
A NEW SPIRIT,
A NEW MIND,
AND A NEW HEART,
THEN WE ARE A
NEW CREATION
10. A NEW CREATION
A.BORN AGAIN - John 3:3-5 Jesus answered and said to
him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born
again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." {4} Nicodemus
said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can
he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be
born?" {5} Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter
the kingdom of God.
B.A NEW CREATION
1. NOT OUTWARD BUT INWARD - Gal 6:15 For in Christ
Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails
anything, but a new creation.
2. OLD IS GONE, BECOME NEW 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if
anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things
have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
3. CREATED TO DO GOOD - Eph 2:10 For we are His
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in
them.
