FCSE [ A Foundation Course in Spoken English ] is intended to help develop oral communication skills of learners who have had little or no exposure to spoken English. Besides her long years of experience in teaching, in developing ELT materials and in supervising research work, Dr Sadanand has published several papers and books. Prominent among her publications is   A Practical Course in English Pronunciation  (2004). Ms Susheela Punitha  is former Professor of English, Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. FCSE facilitates learning through Listening :  The course includes extensive listening component to provide maximum exposure to contextualised use of English . Production : The activities requiring the learners to repeat the sample of simulated dialogues that they listen helps them to internalize the language. Extension :  The listening and repeating tasks are followed by activities that help the learner extend appropriate usage to similar socio-cultural contexts . Orient Longman
Go through each unit and listen to the respective CD before you  meet the class. Play the CD more than once, if necessary. Encourage active participation of all learners in the activities.  Help slow and shy learners gain confidence by ensuring that each group has one or more confident students. Facilitate group work, pair work and  role-plays. Listen to the recorded conversation. Imitate those conversations by repeating them. Learn the words/phrases/ expressions  related to different functions through the activities. Practise through role-plays with your peers.
