I was happy, and so were my parents. I proceeded to reapply back to my former

Being dismissed from college was one experience that I have never regretted and

Aristotle defined ethos as how messages persuade as a result of the communicator s
character. He claimed that this was most important in the list of the three rhetorical
appeals. The reason was because that person has to be a trustworthy speaker to the
audience, but that requires have practictical intelligence, virtuous character, and good
will. Rudyard Kipling has an automatic ethos built to his audience because the
intended audience was his son, and there is an automatic father son bond established.
Kipling can use this bond to his favor while trying to convey his message, because
the trust will heighten the chance of the son taking the advice the father is trying to
give him. If a stranger was trying to give the same advice without any background, it
wouldn t be as powerful nor personal to the son and he wouldn t know where the
scenarios were coming from. By Kipling being the communicator, he is meeting all

and more time under the lights, the absorbance rate continues to decrease toward
zero. Once our 30 minutes were up, the absorbance rate in each tube was significantly
lower than at the start of our experiment. In contrast the two control groups did
significantly lower the absorbance. Each control lacked one of the vital aspects of
photosynthesis, one being light, and the other being chloroplast. Neither of the control
groups (Control 1 or 2) showed any signs of photosynthesis. Control 1 was exposed to
light, but contained no photosynthetic organelles thus the absorbance throughout the
30 minutes varied minimally, mostly staying stagnant. Control two which contained
chloroplast but was not exposed to any light failed to lower the absorbance at all and
in fact increased the absorbance over the 30 minutes. However, the treatment group
contained both and ultimately performed photosynthesis as we expect therefore,
confirming our assumption that chloroplast were the organelles required for
photosynthesis in plants and that light is required to perform said photosynthesis.

depositional environment. It is likely this layer was originally deposited offshore
in a marine environment. This is further supported by the following Bena Gravel
formation, which is emblematic of a transitional beach type environment with

silty and sandy shale could be evidence for a regressive cycle and receding sea

There are actually two versions of Anthony van Dyck s painting of the countess of
Southampton; Anthony van Dyck, Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton, ca.
1640, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (see fig. 1) and Anthony van Dyck,
Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton as Fortune , ca. 1638, Fitzwilliam
Museum, University of Cambridge (see fig.2). There have been discussions on which
between the two is the primary version. Ursula Hoff argued that the painting located
There is an obvious use of geometric shape of a circle on the sphere to form its
whole shape and having organic shapes for the whole figure of the countess and
especially the clouds in the background and foreground. The artist has also
managed to develop the texture in this painting. He mainly used light and rough
brushstrokes instead of thick layers of paint like impasto. Gentle and small
brushstrokes build up the figure of Rachel de Ruvigny, from her hair to her gown.

through dabbing and swirling has made them look soft and fluffy. The sphere is
also painted with reflective spots and a smooth surface to create the texture of a
sleek fragile orb. Moving on to the colour harmony of this painting, Anthony van
Dyck has used complementary colours two of which are blue and orange. The
subject, Rachel de Ruvigny, is mainly wearing a blue/blue green gown as where the
background and other objects such as the sphere and skull are painted in this dark
hue of orange that contrasts with the main subject. Van Dyck has also used different
types of lines in this painting. Firstly, the folds and wrinkles in her clothes are

step process to make your car sparkle after you are done washing it. First you have
to gather your materials, second you wash the car with soap, and third you dry your

The most important supplies are a bucket, a large sponge, hose with running water,
and soap. The brand of soap you use plays a big role in how shiny and clean your car

on each of the other four sections. This will ensure that all the dirt and grime is
removed from the car. Once you have finished washing the body and windows of
your car you can move down to the rims and tires. The tires and rims are washed

One of the bloodiest and most devastating wars in history; World War I, was
supposed to be the war to end all wars. Its conclusion was supposed to usher in the
new world order, a time of peace and international prosperity and was hoped to be

design and function of this new world the allies claiming to be victorious met in

One major thing for me is external factors, the leaders here were responsive to
governments and peoples back whom who were pushing for various things. The
heavy propaganda used to demonize the enemy came back to haunt especially in

personal narrative that is a retelling of the author s childhood and it starts with
Lethem confessing that he saw the original Star Wars movie twenty one times in one
summer when he was thirteen years old. Despite what some readers may think, this
essay is not about any kind of obsession he may have with Star Wars. He tells more
about the aspects of his childhood that related to the detail of his almost religious
coming and going to the movie theater, which serves as the sweet lace to the bitter
truth of his childhood. In this essay, Lethem purposefully uses the device of Star
Wars to link details of that time in his life to frame into what maybe the most
important time in his life.
Lethem is a Brooklyn, New York native and talks about that summer in 1977 when
