This document discusses orbital hypertelorism, which refers to orbits that are widely spaced. It can occur in craniofacial dysplasias, clefts, and craniosynostosis syndromes. The main surgical techniques for correction are box osteotomy and facial bipartition, which move the orbits medially using intra-cranial and extra-cranial approaches. Box osteotomy moves just the orbits while facial bipartition also rotates the hemifaces. Care must be taken to secure the medial canthi and use grafts to prevent complications and achieve stability. The goal of surgery is improved cosmesis, and risks are minimized with proper technique.
