Apart from this, he was a goldsmith, blacksmith and a publisher. He was the sole reason for the printing revolution to start in Europe. The machine he introduced, mechanical movable type printer was considered the most important invention of the second millennium. In 1439, Gutenberg was the first and the only European who used a mechanical printer. The key feature in the printer was that it had hand-molded wooden characters and an oil based ink and wooden machine made from screw presses.
