Thissong isa loudand energeticsongwhichholdsitsambience throughoutthe piece. Itcomes
underthe rock genre and thisiscomplimentedbythe use of loudpercussionandastrong leading
guitarriff.
There isa mediumpitchedsoundinginstrumentwhichplaysatthe beginningof the intro,shortly
followedbya lowerpitchedguitar,playingthe same thing.Whenthe vocalscome initisnaturally
quite lowpitcheddue tothe singerbeingmale.Inthe firstphrase of the chorus,the vocalsare very
lowpitched.However,the phrase thatfollowssingsthe same melodyanoctave higherandthe rest
of the chorusremainshighpitched.Thisportraysa darkday suddenlybecomingbright.Afterthe
chorus there isan instrumental fromasologuitar.Thisisalsoveryhighpitched.

The tonalityof thissongis major.Thisgoeswiththe lyricsand meaningbehindthe song.The lyrics
talkabout the sunand a blue skyfinallyreturning.The happymajortonalityportraysthisasit gives
it a happyvibe.Whenthe chorusisheard,the firstnote is a minornote,changingthe moodof the
song.The lyricsof the chorus are “Mr blue sky,please tell uswhy?Youhadto hide awayfor so
long”.Thisshowshowpeople rememberwhenitwasdarkand grey.

The mediumdynamicsthroughoutthe songcreatesamellow andserene feel tothe song.We have
recreatedthisandtook itto a furtherextentbynotincludinganydrums.
Rhythmwise,the first3 notesplayedinthe chorus are onthe beatand the transitionbetweenthe
Am andF is quick.Iwill be playingbassforthissongand the rhythm forkeysand bassare pretty
similar.There isonlyone difference whichiswhenIplayawalkingbassriff betweenthe final chord
of the chorusand the one playedafter.Thisishow it soundsonthe track too.
The pitch islowfromeveryinstrumentexcludingthe organwhichplaysthe notesquite high.Bob
Marley'svoice islowthroughoutandso is the bass.Thisalso addsa calmingeffect tothe song.

We shookto the melodyandlistenedtoitingreat detail inordertosingthe correct thing,the way
Bob Marleydidhimself.
Bob Marleyusesmanyinstrumentsinthistrack.Heard inthe song are an organ, bass,rhythmguitar,
drum kit,vocals/harmoniesandbongos.Due toourcover of thissong beingaduet,we've only
included3of the above instruments.Theseare vocals,bassandan organ soundonkeys.
The tonalityof the song ismajor whichgivesa happyfeel toit.Thiscomplimentsthe lyricsand
meaningof the songwhichare "nowomanno cry". Here Bob Marleywants to allow asense of hope
intoa woman'slife.He istellinghertostopworryingaboutall the bad thingsthat have happened
and start to notonlyreminisce onthe goodthings,butalsofocuson the brightfuture she has.
The texture isquite thickthroughoutthe songas all instrumentsare playingatthe same time.We
obviouslycouldn'trecreate thisaswe onlyhave twoinstrumentalists/vocalists.
In BobMarley's song,there isharmonyinthe chorus.The firstline isn'tsunginharmonyhowever
more vocalscome inand harmonize whenthe phrase isrepeated.Inourversionof the song,we sing
a harmonyoverthe entire chorusexceptforthe secondchoruswhichsays"heylittle darling,don't
shedno tears".Thispart isa solo.

alsouse the same harmonyas the songin the bridge.However,we changedthe bridgeitself quitea
lot.We changedthe arrangementof the melodywhichwe thenlayeredasregardsto ourvocal
texture.
Hotel California- The Eagles (Research)
The dynamicsare fairlyquietthroughoutthe songespeciallyatthe beginningof the song.They’re
increasedslightlyatthe choruswhichemphasisesthe excitementof beingathotel California.
The outro of the songis quite highpitched.Thisisplayed byastringinstrument- possiblyabanjo.
The vocals are alsohighpitchedthroughoutthe songas he singsit inthe higheroctave.The
harmoniessungoverthe mainvocalsinthe chorus are higherpitchedthanthe melodyvocalists.
There isalso a guitarsolowhichyoucan tell isplayedatthe part of the guitarwhichcreatedthe
highestpitchingsounds.

The melodyforthe versesisthe same throughouteachone.Whenthe chorus comesin,it
introducesacatchy melodyandhookphrase whichI spenttime focusingonasI knew thatwas my
mainpart in the performance. Isangthischorus authenticallyafterspendingtimemasteringthe
melodyandrhythm.
There isa mainleadinginstrumentusedinthe introductionof thissong.ThisinstrumentIbelieve is
a highpitchedstringinstrument,perhapsabanjo.Inthe introI can alsohear shakers,bass,acoustic
guitarand cymbals.Then whenthe verse begins,vocals,rhythmguitaranddrumsare introduced.
Thisinstrumentationremainsquitesimilarthroughout,howeverduringthe chorus;there isalead
guitarwhichplaysseparate riffstothe rhythm. We usedkeys,drums,guitar,bassand vocals.
At the beginningof the songthe texture isreallythinasthere are only2 or three instruments
playing.Whenthe vocalscome in,more instrumentsare added,effectivelyaddingathickertexture.
The texture getsthickerwhenthe full kitisintroducedinthe chorusof the song. We aimedto
parallel thismotive of the songbyjusthavingkeysandguitarin the introand addingdrumswhen
the vocalscome in.
