This document summarizes the development of pharmacy education and training of pharmacists in Zambia. It discusses how local training of pharmacists began in 2001 with the introduction of a 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree program. Over 700 pharmacists have now graduated from these national training programs. The BPharm curriculum aims to produce pharmacists competent in pharmaceutical care and covers topics like pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and clinical pharmacy. It includes both traditional classroom learning and experiential learning placements. The curriculum and training programs have helped address Zambia's need for pharmacists and advanced the development of pharmacy in the country.
