3. INTRODUCTION
Muadh ibn Jabal describe knowledge: “Knowledge is a comforting
friend in times of loneliness, it is the best companion during travels,
and it is the inner friend which speaks to you in your privacy.
Knowledge is the discerning proof of what is right and what is wrong,
it is the positive force that will help you surmount the trials of comfort,
as well as those of hardships. Knowledge is most powerful sword
against your enemy, and finally, it is your most dignifying raiment in
the company of your close companions (reported by Abu Nu‟aim)
I say: if you want a high post, sharp memory, fame among men,
dignity that won‟t fade off with time, to be respected while you are a
ruler, to be wealthy in the absence of money, to be aided without
seeking out, all you need is KNOWLEDGE! One word that mean
many.
5. ITS SIGNIFICANCE AND MERIT
Knowledge is what the genius & brains trust strive for, those of
wisdom dwell in it, the dignified ones envy themselves because
of knowledge.
The holy prophet had disproved all form of envy except for two
groups of people; a man who has acquired wealth and spend it in
the course of Allah and a man who had knowledge and striving
with it.
The people of knowledge are highly respected in the presence of
Allah. He said: “verily, those who fear Allah among his servants
are those with knowledge”
Allah also compared the people of knowledge with those without
knowledge: “Will you ever compare those with knowledge with
those that know nothing?” in short, to show the value and respect
given to knowledge, the first chapter revealed by Allah (swt) to
our Prophet was about knowledge.
6. WHO NEED
All with a soul and consciousness.
Knowledge varies with the seeker. From animals to
man, all seek knowledge in one way or the other.
The mother animal teaches its young.
7. WHAT TO KNOW
All that are beneficial necessary to the wellbeing of
the livings.
Examples include but not limited to: religious
studies, medicines, engineering, botany, zoology.
8. WHAT BEST TO KNOW
The nobility of a subject depends on the object it
studies
Knowledge of Allah: knowing the source of all
knowledge comes first.
Knowledge of Allah‟s religion: to know the Will of
Allah in order to know the purpose of our existence
is next in importance.
11. ITS REGULATIONS
Knowledge is investigation.
Going to extreme in investigation is not allowed.
If there is no reason to investigate, leave it!
12. CONCLUSION
If something is unanimously agreed upon to be
essentially unavoidable, it is KNOWLEDGE.
May Allah increase us in knowledge, faith and
understanding. Amin
