5S represents a Lean Manufacturing technique for organizing and managing workspaces. It consists of five Japanese terms - Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke - which translate to Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Sanitize, and Self-Discipline. The goal of 5S is to eliminate waste by properly sorting items, arranging necessary items for easy use, cleaning the workspace, maintaining cleanliness standards, and developing self-discipline habits.
