This document provides background information for a debate between the first presidents of Colombia on various political issues. It lists the names of presidents from three different periods of Colombian history - New Granada, United States of Colombia, and Republic of Colombia. Students are asked to take on the role of one of these presidents and debate questions around what system of government benefited Colombia, whether slavery should still exist, the role of the church in politics, and which other president they agree with ideologically.
