Exercise2 for Stanford University MOOC on Design ThinkingРенальд Лачашвили
The principal of a top Moscow school is seeking to reconcile the differing interests of stakeholders in education and career preparation. While schools aim to develop students' skills and interests, parents often dictate career choices, and students graduate without being able to choose their own path. Additionally, graduates struggle with the transition to work due to a lack of practical experience and socialization training. The principal believes students need more independence and opportunities to explore careers hands-on in order to find their best fit.
The document discusses learning styles and principles of effective teaching. It describes three common learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. It also lists 12 principles of learning, such as active involvement, social participation, relating new information to prior knowledge, and developmental differences. The document provides examples of classroom strategies for each principle. It emphasizes that teachers should understand their own learning styles and create a positive environment to address students' varied needs.

3. Students will complete an assessment sheet describing their mask and what they learned about the Mohawk tribe and False Face legend to demonstrate their understanding.
1. 1. Students should take job simulators as courses to foster confidence in students.
2. Students should take entrepreneur simulators.
3. Students should take mandatory dance classes to promote self-confidence.
4. Students should take mandatory theatre classes to promote self-confidence.
5. Students should take mandatory painting classes to promote self-knowledge.
6. Students should take psychology classes to encourage self-knowledge.
7. Students should take accounting classes to eradicate financial fear.
8. Students should be able to start a company with school resources which might be destined to failure just for the
sake of learning.
9. Students should be able to start an ambitious engineering project with school resources which might be destined
to failure just for the sake of learning.
10. Students should practice extreme sports just for the sake of losing fear.
11. Students should travel to warzones just for the sake of knowing how to work under pressure.
12. Students should be put in charge of tough decisions that affect a whole class or generation at school at least once
so they can reach deep into them for courage.
13. Students’ parents should promote their kids’ learning of a craft skill so they can always work as a craftsman.
14. Students shouldn’t have a car until they graduate, so they become independent.
15. Students’ parents should foster a economical secure environment at home without spoiling them.
16. Reading should be encouraged in students, so they can become self taught.
17. Schools should have a truly humanistic approach in the formation of each one of their students.
18. There should be courses or periods at school in which students are treated as in a job, and even earning some
money back from their tuition wouln’t be bad idea.
19. Students should work and study at least for one semester.
20. There should be classes in which students could learn everyday skills, just as changing a bulb or using a drill.
21. There should be courses in which the students could be able to buy things via internet for the sake of losing fear
to online stuff.
22. Students must learn new languages.
2. 23. Students should be assigned a tutor or coach for a certain period of time after graduation.
24. Graduated students should have free access to extra courses after graduation.
25. Students must be asked to go on field work, so they can gather real information and not only internet based
search results.
26. Students must receive classes on how to speak in public as well as reading and how to give speeches so their
presentations skills are improved.
27. Students have to go through a couple courses on personal hygiene and personal image, so they can consciously
know they are looking good or having a great presence, hence, feeling more confortable.
28. Students must receive financial education prior to start earning money, since they might feel they earn too much
or they earn too little; anyhow they can even ignore the best thing to do and this can cause them fear to decide.
29. Students should take exams that allow them to know which subject or art are they oriented to, so they can know
themselves better and start taking the pertinent choices.
30. Students should know what are they capable of, so intense workshops should be mandatory: woodwork,
metalwork, visual arts, scenic arts, plastic arts.
31. Since not everything is techncial, students should also get a strong formation in philosophy and social sciences so
they know themselves better as a person, country, mankind.
32. Students should receive some courses on interviews, making them as well as receiving them, so they stay natural
when in a job interview.
33. Self taught students should be formed by using all the technology, but keeping the scientific method to ensure
they know where the information came from.
34. Studetns should be able to travel in time so they can screw everything up and then fix it and then learn from it.
35. All students shoudl write a complete novel, so they can spend time in one task instead of multitasking as they
usually do.
36. All students should live at least a year in the country farming or working to subsist.
37. All students should travel all around the world to know different ways to do things and different languages.
38. All students should have a sports class so they can know their body and own it, by owning it they will become
more confident with it.
39. All students should eat ethnic food such as insects, so they can confront their own fears.
3. 40. All students should have controlled accidents so they become more conscious of things surrounding them.
41. All students should have different emotional experiences, such as being yelled at, being bullied at, so they can be
prepared when that happens in the real work environment.
42. All students should have different physical experiences, such as fist fighting, falling from the roof, so they can be
prepared when something like that happens in the real work environment.
43. All students should know a little bit of everything, just as the ancient Greek wisemen did, so they can talk a bit of
everything with anyone.
44. All students should go and meet the people that work in different crafts, so they don’t feel alienated and they
can eventually look for their help in their future projects.
45. Students should live away from their parents in a supervised, committed environment, so they learn to share and
know new people.
46. All students should undergo psychiatric testing, so they can find if they should be treated in a special way or an
explanation to anything peculiar, so they know it, own it and start from there.
47. All students should try working in which they are not good at, just for the sake of learning.
48. All students should creatively raise funds for their projects.
49. All students should pay for one semester of their education at least.
50. All students should pay back for the college loan by themselves.
4. 1. Students should be able to start a company with school resources which might
be destined to failure just for the sake of learning.
– This would foster a secure environment for the students, if it is succesful then it is already a success and the guys did learn
what they were supposed to, but if it is not, then the students wouldn’t be worried about falling in jail or anything.
2. There should be courses or periods at school in which students are treated as
in a job, and even earning some money back from their tuition wouln’t be bad
idea.
– This would actuallly put them into the dynamics and stresses of daily work routing, 8 hour shifts, lunchtime and a payroll
would add up to a great simluator. Including the dates due.
3. Studetns should be able to travel in time so they can screw everything up and
then fix it and then learn from it.
– This would be the ultimate learning tool!
