2. 1. TAPE MEASURE – used for taking body measurement.
2. RULER – it is more important for measuring and making straight lines in a fabric.
3. SEAM GUAGE – it is a small ruler about 6 inches long with a sliding marker. It is used for
measuring and marking distances such as hems, tucks and seams.
4. YARDSTICK – it has both inches and centimeters and comes in handy to measure the
line of the fabric when laying out the pattern.
5. HEM MARKER – it is an accurate guide for measuring and marking hemlines.
6. L-SQUARE – used in drawing perpendicular lines and in making corner square.
7. HIP CURVE – is used for shaping the hips and the skirt hemline.

13. NEEDLES – are used to take threads in out of the fabric, when making stitches.
14. PINS – are used to hold pieces of fabric together when sewing or cutting the fabric.
15. THREADS – are made of mercerized or polyester cotton. They are used for making stitches.
16. THIMBLE – is a cap-like object made of metal or plastic that is worn over the finger, usually the digit
finger, to protect it from being pricked by the needle or pin when sewing by hand.
17. PIN CUSHION – is a small cushion into which pins are stuck until needed.
18. EMERY BAG – is a small bag usually attached to the pin cushion for convenience. It is used to sharpen
and clean blunt needles and pins.

4. STITCHES – a loop made by drawing a thread.
THREADING – to pass a thread through the eye of a needle.
SEAMS – the line formed by the sewing together of two pieces of cloth.
