Guillermo Tolentino was a Filipino sculptor and professor at the University of the Philippines. He was born in 1890 in Malolos, Bulacan and studied sculpture at the University of the Philippines. Some of his most notable works include The UP Oblation and the Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan. He received numerous awards for his work, including being named a National Artist of the Philippines for Sculpture in 1973. Billy Abueva was one of Tolentino's students and mentees.
