Jetѐ which means to throw in French and is also a dance move. We decided on this name as she is throwing herself and all her efforts into dancing. We also started the screen play by drafting the first minute of the five minutes. We also spoke about researching posters and reviews to help us with our poster and review. For homework we are all going to research one review and one poster each.Next lesson we are planning to finish drafting the script. 06/10/10EilishSarahGemmaLaurenToday we simply cracked down and finished drafting the screen play. It’s around 4 pages long as there is only really dialogue at the beginning of our short film so the rest is all description of the action. If we can we are going to merge the screen play with the shot list to create the shoot script.11/10/10EilishSarahGemmaLaurenWe started the shot list today but it took longer than expected so we didn’t manage to finish it. We completed the first 3 minutes of our short film so we have a clear plan of how we are going to film them. We also decided that Lauren and Gemma would be in charge of the Review but we would all do our own research. We also decided Sarah and Eilish would be in charge of the Poster. Again we are all going to do our own research. Next lesson we are planning to finish the shot list and hopefully start the shooting script. 13/10/10EilishSarahGemmaLaurenThis lesson we achieved a lot more than expected. We completed the shot list and the shooting script. We now have a clear vision of exactly what our short film is going to look like at the then end of production. We also discussed mise en scene today and particularly costumes.Next lesson we are planning to start the story board and plan our filming dates.15/10/10EilishSarahGemmaLaurenToday we sat down and planned all the dates we are going to film. Monday lunch time, Wednesday after college and Thursday 28th during half term. If we don’t manage to film all the rushes in this time we are going to film the remaining shots during college. We also started the storyboard. Next lesson we are planning to film if it’s possible but if not we are going to crack on with the story board. 18/10/10EilishSarahGemmaLaurenDue to issue’s the camera today we were unable to film, So we spent the lesson typing up the results to our questionnaire and proceeding with the storyboard. This was quite a productive lesson as we all sorted out our folders and discussed exactly what needs doing.Next lesson we are planning to film scene 5 of our short film in the sick room at college. 20/10/10EilishSarahLaurenAs Gemma wasn’t here today we were unable to film scene 5. Today we finished the story board and research some similar products for our short film, such as Billy Elliot and Step Up. We did have an issue with not having enough actresses but we managed ok. We have now got to the half mark with are filming. We also took pictures of our characters and locations for our character profiles and location recce. Next time we are planning to get started on filming the rest of the scenes. 01/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we reviewed our footage we filmed last lesson to see whether everything had been done properly and nothing needed re-doing. We also discussed the music for our short film and how we would go about get permission to use music. We also planned the next day of filming.Next time we are planning to film scene 5 in the morning during our lesson and then scenes 3 and 4 in the afternoon. 03/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we all met at the first location (the sick room) and filmed scene five. Although it was only a short scene we were rushed as the receptionists told us we had to be quick in case someone was ill. We still feel it went well though. Later we started to film in the dance studio but then a dance class came along so we had to stop. We also couldn’t use the school hall for scene six as the hall was busy too. So we didn’t get as much done as we had planned.Our next filming date is Monday lunchtime where we are going to finish filming scene 5 and hopefully continue on to do scene 6 later in the day.08/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenWe didn’t get round to filming today as fundamental things were forgotten such as the tripod and the costume for Faye. During our lesson today we planned when we were actually going to film and then started to capture the footage we had already filmed. We incurred many problems with this and so we spoke to the technician who is going to help us next lesson as he said that many people have been have the same problem.On our next planned session we are going to be filming scene 4. 12/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we finally managed to finish the filming. We had a short time space to finish the filming as we only had the drama studio and the dance studio for an hour. We managed to get all the shots we wanted but if when editing we decided we want or need more shots we haven’t got then we will film them on a separate occasion. Next lesson we are planning to begin editing.15/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we uploaded all of our rushes onto the editing software. This took the majority of the lesson as we have a lot of footage to upload. When this was done we had a play with the software as it was new to us. At first we found it complicated and difficult to use but we got used to it. Then we started to edit our short film. We cut our rushes into individual shots but only got about half way through the footage before the end of the lesson.Next lesson we are going to continue to cut of rushes into individual shots and then start to pick the shots which want to include in our short film.17/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenThis lesson we continued to edit our short film. We finished separating the rushes using the razor tool and then began to put the shots in order. We also assessed what we had left to do. We found we had a few things left to do so we separated the jobs between the group and we are all going to finish them for next lesson. We also had a look at the photographs we took for the poster and chose which ones we could potentially use. Next lesson we are planning to do a rough edit by putting the rest of the clips in order and then deleting the shot we don’t want to use.22/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we finished putting the rest of the shots in order and then we started to delete the unwanted shots. After that we managed to roughly edit scene one by cutting the clips down and creating match on action in many of the shots.Next lesson we are planning to roughly edit scenes two and three. 24/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we managed to roughly edit scenes two, three and part of four. This is much more than we thought we would get done but we stayed after the lesson to get more done. We also started to discuss transition and which transitions would be suitable where. After editing today we found that our first four scenes come up to nearly five minutes and we still have three more scenes to add on at the end. Although these are only short scenes we may have to loose or cut down some of the shots to shorten the film but on if this is completely necessary. Next lesson we are planning to complete the rough edit. This will be a lot of work but after that we will just have to add in the transitions and music. 26/11/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenToday we managed to complete our rough edit and it ended up being six minutes long. So we then went back and made a few corrections and shortened a few clips which brought it down to five and a half minutes. We also started to discuss the evaluation today. We suggested that we each spoke about our main roles. So Eilish will talk mainly about editing, Sarah will talk mainly about filming and pre-production, Gemma will talk mainly about the actually story and finally Lauren will mainly talk about the production process. Next lesson we are planning to add or the transitions to make the short film flow and then add in some music if we have the time. 01/12/10Eilish SarahThis lesson started with just Sarah so she started to make a poster and when Eilish arrived they finished it. We have tried to challenge conventions with the poster to show that it is not your average film. We have done this but putting Faye to the right of the shot and not centre frame, have the poster landscape rather than portrait, put the PG rating in the top right hand corner instead of being at the bottom and by keeping the poster very simple using few colours. We also then went on to carry on editing our short film. We added transitions for the first scene but then we ran out of time.Next time we are planning to show the others the two versions of the poster and see what they think. We are also planning to add all the transitions for the rest of the short film. If possible we are going to try to add the voice over’s to our short film. 03/12/10Eilish SarahLaurenThis lesson we showed Lauren the posters which they liked and we chose our favourite. We also managed to add all of the rest of the transitions but we couldn’t do the rest of the voice over’s because Gemma had the tape and camera. Next lesson we are planning to do the voice over’s. 06/12/10Eilish SarahGemmaLaurenThis lesson we managed to film the rest of the voice over’s for our short film, upload them onto the system and add them in. We also managed to add the music and so we completed our final edit. The poster and review are also finished.Now we are all working on our own individual written evaluations and the PowerPoint evaluation that we will do together.<br />
