This document discusses a regional NAP Expo in Malawi on objectives for National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). The objectives of NAPs are to reduce vulnerability to climate change impacts by building resilience and integrating climate adaptation into development policies and plans across sectors. The global goal on adaptation is to enhance resilience and reduce vulnerability to climate change in the context of limiting global warming to under 2°C. Guiding principles for NAPs include having a country-driven and iterative process that builds on existing efforts, is participatory and transparent, considers vulnerable groups, and is guided by best science and traditional knowledge. The document provides examples of stakeholder mapping and engaging relevant actors in the NAP process.
