What does it mean to      you?



       Multiculturalism
Definition of Multiculturalism…
• The status of several different
  ethnic, racial, religious or cultural
  groups co-existing in harmony in the
  same society.
STEREOTYPE –
• A simple, often offensive,
     way of describing an
     individual or group.
PREJUDICE –
• The thought; Pre=before.
  Judice=form an opinion/place a value.
• Making up your mind about someone
  before you have met them. Based on
  what they look like, do etc. Also
  based on information other people
  have given you directly and indirectly
  i.e. through the media.
DISCRIMINATION –
• The act. Treating someone differently
  because they belong to a certain
  group.
• Discrimination often is subtitled
  through ‘isms’ e.g. sexism, racism,
  ageism.
• It can be positive i.e. selecting
  members of groups to support or
  assist them, in job applications for
  example.

  • 37. Definition of Multiculturalism… • The status of several different ethnic, racial, religious or cultural groups co-existing in harmony in the same society.

  • 39. STEREOTYPE – • A simple, often offensive, way of describing an individual or group.
  • 40.
  • 41. PREJUDICE – • The thought; Pre=before. Judice=form an opinion/place a value. • Making up your mind about someone before you have met them. Based on what they look like, do etc. Also based on information other people have given you directly and indirectly i.e. through the media.
  • 42. DISCRIMINATION – • The act. Treating someone differently because they belong to a certain group. • Discrimination often is subtitled through ‘isms’ e.g. sexism, racism, ageism. • It can be positive i.e. selecting members of groups to support or assist them, in job applications for example.
