Introduction
The topic of security has been an issue for many countries and citizens alike as countries struggle to root out the vice of insecurity that is posing a great threat especially during this technological era where everything is virtually done online. Today every country around the world is grappling with keeping its citizens and institutions safe from external attacks and threats. Some of these threats could be motivated by various factors ranging from political, economic and social issues which make individuals or groups plan some sort of leveling score mission. If we were to review history in the early days during the 17th and 18th century the issues of insecurity among various nations were in existence but not at the height it is in the wake of the 21st century. Those days’ strategic alliances worked best in culminating threats of external and internal invasion, various leaders would call for peaceful resolution of the indifference that might exist between or among groups of nations. The mode or means of attack was not as sophisticated as it today since the only way terrorists would invade empires those days were through the physical means of actually leading an invasion group or plotting with a team on the ground to execute their plan.
Today this tactic has changed leaving institutions mandated with protecting our boundaries and keeping the people safe with a huge task of coming up with various ways of knowing how, where and when the security threats might actually occur. Some of the world leading security institutions that have earned a name for themselves are the homeland security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI and Scotland Yard. These institutions have in the recent past prevented so many attacks plotted against the United States of America and many countries around the world through tapping the wide insecurity network around the world.

The issue of terrorism and external attacks has led to numerous loss of lives and property and must be cubed and properly managed using the most efficient methods so as to ensure proper security. It is evident that terrorists no longer use outdated strategies while carrying out attacks. With technology evolving with time, they have learned and mastered the use of new technology and have succeeded in coming up with some of the toughest attacks to prevent. Therefore, the DHS is left with a tough task and must improvise some of the best tactics in their strategic plan so as to have a proper chance in managing the situation. In return, they want fixed money from the owners of illegal activities and allow prostitution, liquor selling, and gambling to continue unabated. Syndicate crime refers to the furnishing of unlawful goods and services by organized criminal groups, often known as mafia. Illegal products include liquor and drugs, while illicit services involve trafficking of girls, gambling, and so forth.
Several groups as The Cosa Nostra, The Russian mafia, The Mexican drug cartels, and The Asian Organized Crime Groups have been considered as criminal groups involved in the organized crime at national and transnational levels. International criminal groups operate under various structures with stable hierarchies and network. They try to influence government policies by using corrupt as well as legitimate methods (The United States Department of Justice, 2015).
With changing industrial contours, organized crime has also shifted from traditional ways to tech-savvy crimes (example: cybercrime). It has exploited technological advancements and communication strategies to expand cross-border. This high-tech realm has made many crimes an international threat rather than a local danger. Today, these crimes are conducted by nimble and loosely structured groups that have a global reach. Refined telephone networks have fostered rapid communication, thereby revolutionizing the illicit commerce (Bjelopera & Finklea, 2012).
While technology has facilitated the growth of organized crime, challenges posed by technological advancements in tracking and investigating organized crime need special mention. Investigation of cases has become difficult because of the sophisticated screening options as firewalls. In a drug investigation case that was carried out jointly by the United States and Colombian authorities, it was found that the presence of the firewall made it intricate for authorities to reach them.
A REVIEW OF CYBERSECURITY AS AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR FIGHTING IDENTITY THEFT AC...
The study is focused on identity theft and cybersecurity in United States. Hence, the study is aimed at examining the impact of cybersecurity on identity theft in United States using a time series data which covers the period between 2001 and 2021. Trend analysis of complaints of identity theft and cybersecurity over the years was conducted; also, the nature of relationship between the two variables was established. Chi-Square analysis was used to examine the impact of cybersecurity on identity theft in United States. Line graphs were used to analyze the trend in the variable. Time series data was used in the study and the data was obtained from secondary sources; Statista.com, US Federal Trade Commission, Insurance Information Institute and Identitytheft.org. Result from the study revealed that consumers’ complaints on identity theft were on the increase every year. Total spending of the economy (both private and public
sector) on cybersecurity was on continuous increase over the years. More than 100% of spending in 2010 as incurred in 2018. The Chi-Square analysis revealed that cybersecurity does not have significant impact on identity theft. The study recommended that the government increase the level of public awareness to ensure that members of the public protect their personal and other information to ensure that they are not compromised for fraud or identity theft. Organizations also need to invest more in the security system and develop policies that will support the security system. At the country level, international treaties and collaboration should be encouraged to prosecute the fraudsters hiding behind national borders.

Edward J. Snowden, the thirty-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who handed over a treasure trove of classified documents about U.S. government surveillance to the Washington Post and Britain's Guardian, is a hero to some and a traitor to others. He claims to have acted out of a sense of outrage over the NSA's indiscriminate collection of the phone and internet records of Americans, decrying the danger such intrusive government oversight poses to democracy and privacy. Snowden subsequently fled to Hong Kong, and from there to Moscow. His eventual destination appears to be Ecuador, Cuba, or Venezuela.
Snowden's efforts to elude U.S. authorities cast an ambiguous light on his motives; the countries where he has sought refuge are not known for upholding the sort of democratic values he claims to be defending. While demanding accountability from the U.S. government, he appears to be seeking immunity for his own actions. Snowden's purposes and fate, however, should be of secondary concern. However misguided his actions may have been, they have reopened a much-needed debate about the reach and authority of what is often called the National Security State. While defending the NSA programs, even President Barack Obama seems to welcome that debate. "You can't have 100 percent security and also then have 100 percent privacy and zero inconvenience," Obama noted when asked about Snowden's leaks. "We're going to have to make some choices as a society. ... There are trade-offs involved."
Administration officials and members of Congress say the government's extensive surveillance programs are crucial to preventing terrorist attacks, and that Snowden has done real damage to efforts to keep Americans safe. Because almost all the relevant information remains classified, it is difficult to assess that claim. NSA officials have now promised to make public details of some of the dozens of terrorist plots they say the massive data-collection effort, called Prism, has helped thwart. That sort of disclosure is long overdue. Although Prism was approved by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court and is monitored by the intelligence committees of Congress, many Americans were shocked to learn that the government now stores their phone and internet records for possible use in future investigations. While the government is prohibited from listening to the tracked calls, it uses sophisticated algorithms to trace calling patterns. If a series of related calls seems suspicious, the NSA or FBI then gets a warrant from the FISA court to investigate further. No abuse of those procedures has come to light. Still, the mere existence of such records in the government's hands, information that might easily be exploited for political purposes, should concern every American.

Abstract: In recent years, the disclosure of secrets through cyber infiltration of America’s largest intelligence organization,
the National Security Agency (NSA), has raised the fears of veteran intelligence officials and close allies around the globe that

Terrorism and criminal activity have many similarities in that the action of the criminal and the terrorist group are illegal, immoral, and result in victims but there are also distinct differences. Crime is an activity that goes against the laws of a society while terrorism can be supported by the state or government in which the terrorist operates. Terrorists are well trained groups that operate more like a military than a criminal group and commit violent crimes that are different from the violent crimes often time seen in the criminal element. The terrorist has a propensity for violence while not all crimes involve violent behavior.
Terrorist commit violent acts and even crimes to support a cause while criminal commit crimes for different motives, such as greed, jealousy, and anger. Terrorist groups emerge in a society where the group feels oppressed either politically or religiously (Gadek, 2008). These groups will form when members of the society experience the same anger and frustration at this oppression. Terrorist groups also form when their society is invaded by another country and their culture is threatened. Criminals commit crimes due to anger and frustration at their socioeconomic circumstances but will not commit acts of planned violence in order to make a statement to bring attention to their cause while the criminal takes steps to mask their crime.
Criminals will cover-up there fingerprints, where masks to hide their faces, or commit their crimes under the cover of darkness while the terrorist go to great lengths to bring attention to their actions to ensure their message can be spread. Terrorist groups have a specific agenda and will commit the greatest amount of destruction and violence in order to ensure that the media brings attention to their cause. Criminals operate in a specific geographical are while the terrorist conducts operations all over the globe, especially in westernized countries.
Prevention, Mitigation, and Enforcement Measures
Since the attacks on America on September 11, 2001 the focus of the government has been on developing antiterrorism measures that will prevent and effectively mitigate any further terrorist attacks. The first step of the government was to create the Department of Homeland Security in order to integrate federal agencies to ensure that intelligence warning about a potential attack does not go unnoticed, as in the case of 9/11. Failures in interagency communications led to a failure of the federal government to stop the terrorist attacks that killed over 3,000 Americans.

Currently there is no widely accepted definition on the concept of cyber weapon, but it can be described as a tool which has been modified for the purpose of carrying out malicious threats or attacks in the cyber space.
The use of Cyber space as a weapon is gradually gaining recognition, to the extent that it is currently been considered a Weapon of Mass Destruction.
In the US. For Instance, the Department of Homeland Security is tasked with the responsibility of protecting its citizens against any form of threat including cyber-attacks. The US has traditionally been perceived to be the world's most dominant cyber force in terms of this kind. Both their capabilities (defensive and offensive) have been actively developed over the last two decades, and appear to be superior to others. In order to strengthen U.S. space defense, the United States Cyber Command (US CYBER) was established in 2010 to ensure freedom of action in cyberspace for the US government and its allies, but prevent adversaries from doing the same.
The three service elements that comprise USCYBER are the Army Cybercom, the Air Force Cybercom, and the Fleet Cybercom. In August 2017 the United States Cyber Command was elevated to the status of a Unified Combatant Command. The proliferations in weaponisation of cyber space by terrorist groups to carry out destructive threats have necessitated the need for in depth analysis on the regulation of the use of cyber space.
In conclusion, although clearly resembling weapons, others say cyberspace might have a different potential to do great harm without actually inflicting financial or human loss, often cyber weapons may be used as less dangerous "conventional" weapons and canolays.
However, due to the fast pace of cyber-related technological developments, leadership changes, senior defense officials must be up to speed with how these technologies impact national security and defense mechanisms so they can have updated or revisions to the current laws regulating cyber usage.
Furthermore, it is suggested that in other to combat the use of cyber space as a weapon, one has to disable the source of the threat in order to neutralize the "cyber weapon" used to attack a target, thereby rendering them ineffective.
In my opinion, limited reliance on cyber space is recommended to effectively combat cyber space terrorism.

In the article Globalization’s Security Implications the author Lynn Davis discusses the security implications involved with the world becoming more globalized. Davis finds globalization is a multidimensional phenomenon that has become a rapidly evolving process due to new information technologies. Technologies and improved transportation methods have always been the cause for the world’s globalization. Through ships explorers discovered other civilizations and cultures while telephone and television allowed citizens all over the world to glimpse the live of citizens from other countries. New information technologies have sped up the pace of globalization which has benefited all societies but it has also resulted in serious security implications.
Davis finds possibilities to achieve economic prosperity, spread political freedom, and promote peace but it can also allow terrorists to wreak havoc and destruction on countries they once could not reach and gives organized crime group the opportunity to commit crime all over the globe. Information technology has also created a new criminal threat that everyone on the globe with access to new information technology, such as computers, internet, and smartphones, is vulnerable to becoming a victim. Cyber crime is a whole new crime genre that has emerged with new technology. It is employed by larger threats, such as transnational organized crime groups and terrorist groups, as well as smaller criminal threats all over the globe.
The author discusses expanding global economic interactions that can contribute to some of the problems that lie at the root of international security threats (Davis, 2003). For example through the action of American businesses and government China has now become a powerful economic player in global society. This communist society could use their new found economic strength to attempt to force other countries to embrace a communist political model even greater than this threat involves threats, such as Al Qaeda or other international terrorist groups.
Globalization is both good and bad. Through access to the global market businesses can flourish through getting their product or service to a large market but every citizen on the globe that is involved in the digital world become vulnerable to fraud and theft. Introduction and Purpose Statement
The threats to America that are imposed from transnational crimes are constantly changing.
The threats may originate from other nations throughout the world; but, the impacts throughout
America is surreal. The US Government fight against transnational crimes are nothing less than
intricate. US interests abroad are impacted by these threatening networks. Weapons trafficking,
intellectual property theft, cybercrime, human smuggling, trafficking in persons, and illicit drug
trafficking contribute to other crimes that evolves around these transnational crimes. The bottom
line is that the threats created by these crimes are not isolated to one specific nation or a specific
region in the world. The US Government policies that are designed to combat transnational
crimes must address both present-day threats and potential future threats.
The purpose of this paper is to explore US Government policies targeting illicit drug
trafficking and cyber-laundering while identifying vulnerabilities within the policies (if any) and
their impact on threats from terrorist organizations. Transnational crime, narcotics, and terrorism
financing are not geographical concerns. All three can be linked specifically by having potential
effect across national borders. Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) has established a
significant and increasing threat to national and international security, with dire implications for
public safety, public health, democratic institutions, and economic stability across the globe
(Finckenauer 2006, 124). The US Government have many Presidential Directives (PD) and
policies that target these areas, but are they really having an impact? Without a shadow of a
doubt, drug trafficking has resulted in funding that has supported terrorism and in some cases
such as the Madrid bombing, drugs were being utilized as the currency. The same scenario can
happen in any small or large city in America. US Government policies must be able to
compliment or supplement other Nations policies in the fight against transnational crime.

Terrorism and criminal activity have many similarities in that the action of the criminal and the terrorist group are illegal, immoral, and result in victims but there are also distinct differences. Crime is an activity that goes against the laws of a society while terrorism can be supported by the state or government in which the terrorist operates. Terrorists are well trained groups that operate more like a military than a criminal group and commit violent crimes that are different from the violent crimes often time seen in the criminal element. The terrorist has a propensity for violence while not all crimes involve violent behavior.
Terrorist commit violent acts and even crimes to support a cause while criminal commit crimes for different motives, such as greed, jealousy, and anger. Terrorist groups emerge in a society where the group feels oppressed either politically or religiously (Gadek, 2008). These groups will form when members of the society experience the same anger and frustration at this oppression. Terrorist groups also form when their society is invaded by another country and their culture is threatened. Criminals commit crimes due to anger and frustration at their socioeconomic circumstances but will not commit acts of planned violence in order to make a statement to bring attention to their cause while the criminal takes steps to mask their crime.
Criminals will cover-up there fingerprints, where masks to hide their faces, or commit their crimes under the cover of darkness while the terrorist go to great lengths to bring attention to their actions to ensure their message can be spread. Terrorist groups have a specific agenda and will commit the greatest amount of destruction and violence in order to ensure that the media brings attention to their cause. Prevention, Mitigation, and Enforcement Measures
Since the attacks on America on September 11, 2001 the focus of the government has been on developing antiterrorism measures that will prevent and effectively mitigate any further terrorist attacks. The first step of the government was to create the Department of Homeland Security in order to integrate federal agencies to ensure that intelligence warning about a potential attack does not go unnoticed, as in the case of 9/11. Failures in interagency communications led to a failure of the federal government to stop the terrorist attacks that killed over 3,000 Americans.

Currently there is no widely accepted definition on the concept of cyber weapon, but it can be described as a tool which has been modified for the purpose of carrying out malicious threats or attacks in the cyber space.
The use of Cyber space as a weapon is gradually gaining recognition, to the extent that it is currently been considered a Weapon of Mass Destruction.
In the US. For Instance, the Department of Homeland Security is tasked with the responsibility of protecting its citizens against any form of threat including cyber-attacks. The US has traditionally been perceived to be the world's most dominant cyber force in terms of this kind. Both their capabilities (defensive and offensive) have been actively developed over the last two decades, and appear to be superior to others. In order to strengthen U.S. space defense, the United States Cyber Command (US CYBER) was established in 2010 to ensure freedom of action in cyberspace for the US government and its allies, but prevent adversaries from doing the same.
The three service elements that comprise USCYBER are the Army Cybercom, the Air Force Cybercom, and the Fleet Cybercom. In August 2017 the United States Cyber Command was elevated to the status of a Unified Combatant Command. The proliferations in weaponisation of cyber space by terrorist groups to carry out destructive threats have necessitated the need for in depth analysis on the regulation of the use of cyber space.
In conclusion, although clearly resembling weapons, others say cyberspace might have a different potential to do great harm without actually inflicting financial or human loss, often cyber weapons may be used as less dangerous "conventional" weapons and canolays.
However, due to the fast pace of cyber-related technological developments, leadership changes, senior defense officials must be up to speed with how these technologies impact national security and defense mechanisms so they can have updated or revisions to the current laws regulating cyber usage.
Furthermore, it is suggested that in other to combat the use of cyber space as a weapon, one has to disable the source of the threat in order to neutralize the "cyber weapon" used to attack a target, thereby rendering them ineffective.

Introduction and Purpose Statement
The threats to America that are imposed from transnational crimes are constantly changing.
The threats may originate from other nations throughout the world; but, the impacts throughout
America is surreal. The US Government fight against transnational crimes are nothing less than
intricate. US interests abroad are impacted by these threatening networks. Weapons trafficking,
intellectual property theft, cybercrime, human smuggling, trafficking in persons, and illicit drug
trafficking contribute to other crimes that evolves around these transnational crimes. The bottom
line is that the threats created by these crimes are not isolated to one specific nation or a specific
region in the world. The US Government policies that are designed to combat transnational
crimes must address both present-day threats and potential future threats.
The purpose of this paper is to explore US Government policies targeting illicit drug
trafficking and cyber-laundering while identifying vulnerabilities within the policies (if any) and
their impact on threats from terrorist organizations. Transnational crime, narcotics, and terrorism
financing are not geographical concerns. All three can be linked specifically by having potential
effect across national borders. Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) has established a
significant and increasing threat to national and international security, with dire implications for
public safety, public health, democratic institutions, and economic stability across the globe
(Finckenauer 2006, 124). The US Government have many Presidential Directives (PD) and
policies that target these areas, but are they really having an impact? Without a shadow of a
doubt, drug trafficking has resulted in funding that has supported terrorism and in some cases
such as the Madrid bombing, drugs were being utilized as the currency. The same scenario can
happen in any small or large city in America. US Government policies must be able to
compliment or supplement other Nations policies in the fight against transnational crime.
