1) The Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) was established in 2002 at the CBD COP-6 to provide targets for plant conservation by the international community. 2) The GSPC has mobilized the plant conservation community, prompted national responses, and stimulated action at both global and national levels through its clear and quantifiable targets. 3) The Global Partnership for Plant Conservation (GPPC) was established in 2004 as part of the GSPC's flexible coordination mechanism, and has over 70 national and international partners working to assist with updating the GSPC for the post-2020 period.
