ARPANET was the world's first operational packet switching network and predecessor to the global Internet. Hard bounces occur when emails are permanently undeliverable, while soft bounces happen when emails reach the recipient's server but bounce before delivery. Computer spam refers to junk emails or newsgroup posts, some containing viruses. The Internet connects millions of global computers, while an intranet is a private network within an organization only accessible to members. POP retrieves email from servers, phishing involves scam emails pretending to be legitimate, and encryption involves encoding data while decryption decodes encrypted data. Netiquette refers to proper online behavior which affects one's reputation, and routers forward data packets between networks.
