5. About US . . . Merry Brown-Hayes AND Tony Hayes are a partnership couple who blend their business and personal life flawlessly. Merry is an Idaho native, and Tony moved to Idaho in 1967 and spent his high school and college years here. Together, they lived in the Greater Puget Sound Area from 1982 until 1997 when they “moved home” to North Idaho. They’re family includes Patrick and Peter (both of whom are Sandpoint High School and University of Idaho graduates) and their beautiful wives (Sarah and Tina) -- and live west of Dover on 15 acres in a home they as a family built with their own hands. 6. Who Is Merry Brown-Hayes? Merry is also focused on 'giving back' to her community/. She served as Co-Chair of the marketing arm of the Chamber, has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Schweitzer Mountain Community Association, Secretary for Sandpoint Sailing Association and the driving force behind Sandpoint’s ‘Giving Tree’ project for under privileged children in Bonner and Boundary counties. Professionally she has chaired the Ethics Committee for the Selkirk Association of Realtors and has taught National Association of Realtors approved ethics training for that Association, and currently chairs the Association's Community Service Committee. In August, 2009 she was named Selkirk Association of Realtors REALTOR of the Year. As a fifth-generation Idahoan, Merry was born in North Idaho and spent her school and college days here, and her fond memories of skiing at Schweitzer on opening day and playing on Lake Pend Oreille as a child have always drawn her back. In the early 70’s, she moved to Western Washington and excelled at seizing opportunities which opened up a number of career paths. Her focus has always been ‘on people’ and ‘using her creativity’ and as a result she seized a number of career opportunities including being a bank trust officer, a marketing research manager for a major wood products company, co-owned her own construction company building single family homes and finally in the mid-1980’s became a Realtor. Her passion for excellence in serving her clients became obvious in her first year as a Realtor when she closed 27 home purchases in that first year. Throughout her career her innovative marketing and her passion for serving her clients has been the driving force in becoming a top producing Realtor. She and her husband Tony joined forces as a Realtor Team in the early 1990’s and that business relationship has been in place ever since. In 1997 they moved to Sandpoint with their two children and built their own home. In 1999 Merry began a successful real estate training company (Avalon Productions) serving the advanced training needs of experienced agents on the west coast. Their passion for real estate continued and in 2001 they opened their own real estate company as Resort Lifestyles … which became three offices. In fall 2008, their companies merged with Tomlinson Sandpoint Sotheby’s International Realty, where Merry continues to lead The Resort Lifestyles Group in providing extraordinary real estate services for buyers and sellers in the resort market of North Idaho. 7. Commitment to Community: , Tony is currently a member of the Bonner County Planning Commission, Rear Commodore for the Sandpoint Sailing Association, a member of Ponderay Rotary International. Professionally Tony is a Past President of the Selkirk Multiple Listing Service and a past Director for the Idaho Association of Realtors, was a Co-Chair on the Selkirk MLS Paragon system implementation team, and is a member of the Selkirk Association of Realtors Ethics and Arbitration panel. Who Is Tony Hayes? Tony was raised in Harrison Idaho on the shores of Lake Couer d’Alene and is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Architecture. Tony has spent his adult career in real estate including owning his own home building company (Timbercraft Construction), a union carpenter, acting as a project manager for major construction companies in Washington and Oregon, Broker/Owner of a real estate company in Sandpoint with three offices, and as a Realtor for over 15 years.
