Speech was originally used to exchange information, then people began telling stories through drawings and cave paintings. The development of written language provided another medium for expressing thoughts. Now, people commonly use various media like speech, sounds, music, text, graphics, animation and video. Multimedia involves combining two or more of these elements of text, graphics, audio and video. It has expanded the potential uses of media and made the internet a more engaging place. Multimedia is now widely used for advertising, entertainment, education and sharing public information.

2. Before written language come into widespread use, speech was the primary
medium of exchanging information. Eventually, people began telling stories
through drawing and cave paintings. The creation of written language gave
people yet another medium for expressing their thoughts. Today people
commonly use speech, sounds, music text, graphics, animation, and video to
convey information. These are all different types of media (the term media is
the plural form of medium), and each has traditionally been used to present
certain types of information.
