KNUST COVID-19 AWARENESS
COVID-19: Caused by a virus known as Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Spreads very easily from person
to person.
Signs and symptoms: Fever or chills, cough, difficulty in breathing, cold,
headache, diarrhoea, loss of taste/smell, and several non-specific
symptoms.
Transmission: Respiratory droplets, airborne, contaminated surfaces.
Prevention: Adhere to the KNUST COVID-19 safety protocols
• Respiratory hygiene: Wear a nose mask, cough etiquettes
• Hand hygiene: Frequent hand washing, hand sanitizing
• Maintain ‘safe’ physical distancing
• Avoid crowds and confined/poorly ventilated spaces
Virus is changing itself with even more serious ramifications, so it
is important we all adhere to the safety protocols
Course Objectives:
• Reviewed and deepened student’s skills in
Technical Drawing
• Revised student’s knowledge in perspective
drawing and geometric construction
• Acquired skills in dimensioning drawings of
various engineering units
• Understood the drawing and interpretation of
flowsheets for processing plants
• Understood the types and functionalities of valves
in process industries
• Introduce student to Simulation Software for
Process Engineering
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, the student is
expected to have the skills in:
1. Drawing the Mechanical Engineering
perspectives of Engineering units
2. Designing and drawing Engineering units using
softwares such as AUTOCAD and DraftSight
3. Flowsheeting using manual methods and
softwares such as ChemCAD, Aspen-HYSYS,
COCO, etc.
4. Pipeline Labelling
5. Utilisation of Valves in Process Engineering

  • 2. www.knust.edu.gh www.knust.edu.gh KNUST COVID-19 AWARENESS COVID-19: Caused by a virus known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Spreads very easily from person to person. Signs and symptoms: Fever or chills, cough, difficulty in breathing, cold, headache, diarrhoea, loss of taste/smell, and several non-specific symptoms. Transmission: Respiratory droplets, airborne, contaminated surfaces. Prevention: Adhere to the KNUST COVID-19 safety protocols • Respiratory hygiene: Wear a nose mask, cough etiquettes • Hand hygiene: Frequent hand washing, hand sanitizing • Maintain ‘safe’ physical distancing • Avoid crowds and confined/poorly ventilated spaces Virus is changing itself with even more serious ramifications, so it is important we all adhere to the safety protocols

Course Objectives: • Reviewed and deepened student’s skills in Technical Drawing • Revised student’s knowledge in perspective drawing and geometric construction • Acquired skills in dimensioning drawings of various engineering units • Understood the drawing and interpretation of flowsheets for processing plants • Understood the types and functionalities of valves in process industries • Introduce student to Simulation Software for Process Engineering
  • 4. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the student is expected to have the skills in: 1. Drawing the Mechanical Engineering perspectives of Engineering units 2. Designing and drawing Engineering units using softwares such as AUTOCAD and DraftSight 3. Flowsheeting using manual methods and softwares such as ChemCAD, Aspen-HYSYS, COCO, etc. 4. Pipeline Labelling 5. Utilisation of Valves in Process Engineering
