The document presents information on renowned architect I.M. Pei and two of his works - the Bank of China building in Hong Kong from 1988 and the Grand Louvre renovation project in Paris. It discusses Pei's background and career, key design aspects of the Bank of China like its postmodern geometric structure, facade, landscaping and green features. For the Grand Louvre, it outlines the two-phase construction process which involved building underground and renovating the historic shell to create new interior space connected by an atrium.

The document summarizes Le Corbusier's design for the Pilgrimage Chapel at Ronchamp in eastern France in the 1950s. The chapel was intended to replace an earlier one destroyed by fire. Corbusier wanted to create an "ineffable space" that overwhelmed visitors with its lack of clear dimensionality and scale. The exterior has sculptural, curvilinear forms constructed of reinforced concrete. The interior is small and dark, contrasting with the bright white exterior. Natural light enters through thin slits in the raised concrete roof and irregular windows in the thick walls, creating a phenomenological experience for visitors.

The presentation provided details on Le Corbusier's early life, career, key buildings before Chandigarh and his master plan for Chandigarh, highlighting his modular design approach and use of open spaces.
The document provides information about high-tech architecture, including:
- It emerged in the 1970s incorporating industrial/technological elements into designs.
- Early examples used exposed structural steel and experimented with hollow structural sections.
- Key practitioners include Norman Foster, Renzo Piano, and Santiago Calatrava known for organic, skeletal designs.
- Buildings prominently displayed technical/functional components and used prefabricated elements, glass walls, and steel frames influenced by Mies van der Rohe.
- Examples highlighted include Swiss Re Tower in London, Stansted Airport in the UK, and HSBC headquarters known for its absence of internal supports and use of natural light.
The document discusses four hybrid architecture projects by Steven Holl:
1. Sail Hybrid in Knokke-Heist, Belgium which combines a restored casino, hotel/apartment tower, and congress hall.
2. Linked Hybrid in Beijing, China consisting of 8 apartment towers linked on the 20th floor to create urban spaces.
3. Meander in Helsinki, Finland a meandering 180m glass building containing 49 apartments.
4. Herzog & de Meuron's plans for a new 36,000 seat stadium and 750 apartments in Portsmouth, UK.
Richard Rogers is a renowned British architect known for his modernist and functionalist designs. Some of his most famous works include the Pompidou Centre in Paris and the Lloyd's Building in London. The Lloyd's Building featured an innovative high-tech design where services like pipes and ducts were located on the exterior, maximizing interior space. It helped establish Rogers as a pioneer of the High-Tech architecture style. His designs often focus on transparent, lightweight structures and social integration.
Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, known as Le Corbusier, was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and one of the pioneers of what is now called modern architecture. Some of his most notable works included the Villa Savoye in France, the buildings he designed in Chandigarh, India which served as the new capital, and the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo, Japan. Le Corbusier was influential in establishing the principles of modern architecture, such as using pilotis, free plans, long windows, and roof gardens.
1. Jean Nouvel designed the Institut du Monde Arabe in the 1980s in collaboration with the Arab League and French government.
2. A key innovative feature is the advanced responsive metallic brise soleil sunshading system on the south facade, drawing inspiration from traditional Arabic mashrabiyya lattice screens.
3. The hundreds of light-sensitive diaphragms regulate light and produce shifting geometric patterns, dramatically modifying the interior spaces and exterior appearance while mitigating solar gain.
Charles Correa designed the Kanchanjunga Apartments in Mumbai in 1980-1985 to provide climatic solutions for different sites and programs. The 32 luxury apartments are located in an upscale suburban area and oriented east-west to catch sea breezes. The garden terraces are a modern interpretation of traditional Indian bungalow verandas, wrapping around the living areas to provide protection from sun and monsoon rains. The building responds directly to Mumbai's humid climate and escalating urbanization through large openings, terrace gardens on every floor, and drawing from local vernacular architecture.

The document summarizes the evolution of architecture in Kuwait City over the past 40 years into 5 stages: 1) Early post-oil stage saw low-rise buildings with elements of modern imported styles. 2) Post-oil middle stage saw rapid development and Egyptian/Lebanese influences. 3) Advanced post-oil stage saw increased height and usage of Islamic elements. 4) Contemporary pre-1990 stage saw assessment of problems and revival of traditional styles. 5) Post-war stage involved massive reconstruction integrating regional traditions with modern materials.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi museum complex is located on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel and features 55 volumes distributed in a pattern resembling an Arab medina. A giant dome composed of 7,850 overlapping metal stars covers the complex and provides natural lighting. The dome was inspired by Arab architectural traditions and filters sunlight to create a "rain of light" effect. The complex's materials and forms draw inspiration from local palm trees and falaj irrigation systems.

The Taipei Performing Arts Center in Taiwan elevates a substantial part of its program to create an open public square underneath. By lifting the main plateau, panoramic views of the city are created. The building contains more void space in the form of this three-dimensional urban square than mass. The square fundamentally becomes part of the building and is activated by various balconies and terraces with different programs. The four "legs" of the building that support the horizontal slab are each programmed differently and contain performance spaces at varying altitudes, connected by a system of loops, stairs, and elevators.
With 20+ years of experience in the Architectural field I experienced design from concepts to completion in several areas of the world.
A constant commitment, driven by a passionate approach to design, brought me to discover amazing architectural challenges.
Standing buildings, I have been pleased to design, are the witnesses of my professional career.
Leading a design process from concept to completion needs the strong motivation that I always tried to transfer to the working teams. Inspiration, open discussion, common goals are always key factor to manage a project.
No really matter where I have been, I experienced Architecture as a wonderful combination of cultural journeys and “problem solving” attitude. Keep them tight accordingly to client requirements would always give the right path to follow.
Design is still a learning process impelling a focused reading of the human behaviours and “lifestyle”.
Moshe Safdie designed the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Missouri. His design took advantage of the site's dramatic views by placing the two performance halls facing south with glass enclosures, opening the foyers to views of the city skyline. The enveloping structure features undulating vertical segments that form a segmented, gently curving crown. The curved roof descends towards the south, intersecting with an outwardly inclined glass wall containing the southern-facing foyer.

Villa house design/ 2008
Subject: Villa House Design
Description: Private Villa
Date: 2008
Professor: Zeynab Ustun
This is the project commissioned from a private
client for a summerhouse by the see, located
in North Cyprus - Girne, in the Rivirya Hotel Vil-
lage.
This was an attempt to fulfil the cultural and
expressional dimensions in architecture; that
was also an introduction to principle of plan-
ning, taking care of the traditions and the local
environment, as for example the humidity, hot
weather and typical local stones of the area.
The idea behind the project is therefore to
emphasize the wildness of the area by placing a
clean shaped volume that naturally finds its way
into the landscape according to view, orientation
and privacy.
The house lays on the ground like rock does in
the desert: it is evident and part of the surround-
ing in the same time, an architecture between
human-made and nature.
The 150sq of the over ground space has been
fitted as a unique volume, where the sleeping
room, kitchen, bathroom, living room and en-
trance are at the same time isolated and com-
municating with the whole residence.
To be noted the living room, circle shaped with
the glass balcony in order to see the movements
of the sea below.

26. 26
Hotel Apartment / 2009
In this project several various functions in-
cluding restaurants, outdoor facilities and
swimming pools,fitness centres and spa,have
been designed.
Contemporary hotel design involves effec-
tively integrating these various aspects of ho-
tel operations within a location, to minimize
interference with one another.

Description: Bank design
Date: 2010
Located in North Cyprus central Ataturk Cir-
cus.
Post office restoration to the bank, keep-
ing old historical walls, as typical Cyprus
traditional house, with a little money col-
lection museum .
Concept is dollar shape as top.
All phases of this project are performed by
Sara Ghezelayagh.
Concept of this project to keep the old his-
torical design to move into modern.
The new bank is constituted by two main
elements: main building situated into the
site shelter by light glass, other building is a
small money museum right in the centre.
The main idea of this design is to create mod-
ern ambience while considering the context,
the environment site, and to merge the past,
the present and now to the future.

As an alternative concept, the main idea of the
design is to create modern ambience while
considering the context, the environment site
and to merge the past, the present and now to
the future.
The art museum has been also designed as
a centre to host several notable exhibitions,
while gathering as well as a place for valuable
money collections.

Residential Complex/ 2010
Subject: Architecture design V
Description: Residential complex
Professor: Hossina Nafa
All phases of this project are performed by
Sara Ghezelayagh and Ali Khalili.
Designing a residential complex is the at-
tempt of this course, considering the environ-
ment, culture and economy.
30. 30
Nowadays in big cities is easy to see controver-
sy as urbanism vs. nature; our concept is some-
how criticism of this issue.
On the other hand, the site had the potential to
vast the concept, half full of tall trees and half
without any, neighbouring high-rise buildings.
This is the rebel of introversion and extrover-
sion.

rated units in North Cyprus Girne Centre with
separated parking.
All phases of this project are performed by Sara
Ghezelayagh.
Ali Jebeli and Jahid Yetkili work on construction
site at ANI Mimarlik Construction Company.
My task:
When I joined this project it was from the start-
ing, the design for the exterior shape was more
or less decided, but on the other hand I had the
opportunity to work on the interiors and materi-
als as well as taking care of some details draw-
ings.
35. 35
The idea for the facade was to use the solid ma-
terial that increases its qualities over time and
that gives the feeling of monolithic.
During this phase I had a chance to help the
customers in choosing materials and fixtures
and bathroom.
The floor and part of the walls are covered in
tiles different grey stones. The concept for the
interior was to integrate in one side of each
room all the main furniture.

SADR Commercial Complex/ 2012
Description:
It was a selective competition between dif-
ferent studios in Iran; the project was de-
fined as commercial-residential complex
with 6th commercial layers, 4 parking layers,
and 9 residential layer.
42. 42

formed freely to move and shaped around the
main hall and atrium.
This portion is located near to the main square
to face the holy Shrine as much as it can.

the mass and forming some terraces and ur-
ban places to absorb people in the project.

Underground Shop Design / 2013
Description:
Conceptional work.
Looking at the concept, the sense of movement
and the dynamic modulation are the main charac-
teristics that attract the attention the explanation
of main idea stand in something more rational;
indeed the challenge is to design vibrating like
an anatomic component of a skeleton, created by
a repetition of simple elements.
The aim is to start from the simplest geometrical
shape, in a way to enable to the whole process of
formation in a easiest and effective manner.
