2018 Education Ambassador Program: Fujitsu Design Presentation

Editor's Notes

  • #2 Good afternoon. Thank you for inviting us and giving your valuable time listen to me. My name is Mitsuhiko Kawami. I work for Fujitsu design. I am very happy to be here in Hamburg. It is my first time here, but I have been to Munchen many times to develop design. In Munhen, I love to drink vice beer of Franciskaner, but I am very excited to try Northern German Beer. So. Lets start !
  • #3 First of all, I would like to introduce Fujitsu. .
  • #4 Fujitsu design is located in Kanagawa, around twenty minutes south of Tokyo We also have a Munich studio. Mainly, they develop IA servers and storage system products. Recently we established a new design studio in London. The designers there are creating global product design. In addition, we opened a new co-creation space called “Hab-yu” as an open design platform last year H is “Human”, A is “Area”, B is “Business”. Yu means “connecting.” The purpose is for making use of the design know-how we have fostered in various kinds of design developments and ICT service design We research and develop the UX by making visions to realize it. Various kinds of people visit this place to join in Workshops, lectures and discussions. for example, future banking, SNS, Education and so on. Designers also join these workshops as either members or facilitators. For us, it is a very exciting opportunity to get inspiration from them.
  • #5 To realize a Human Centric Intelligent Society by shaping the relationship between people and ICT into a harmonized experience, together with our customers and society. To unify the mind of our designer… We redefined the design philosophy based on this vision and expectation. There are 3 actions… We listen to our customers, and together we shape a shared vision. We respect diversity and understand each individual’s expectations to create optimal solutions. We challenge the boundaries of ICT, and create valuable experiences beyond customers’ expectations.
  • #6 We have 4 fields of design. Those are Product ,Solution, UX and Branding.
  • #7 The last one is branding design. We have 4 aspects that expand on brand. Firstly, Fujitsu defines our behavior as the Fujitsu way. Communication is the second tool we use to project our corporate attitude Environment design of exhibitions and showrooms is the third. But it is Products, more than anything that helps Customers identify and relate to Fujitsu
  • #8 First is product design. We design not only the style and color but also create usage scenario and UX design through journey maps We also do validation of usability and accessibility. We propose total design to create new value for the customers. Recently, we began designing new wearable devices to sense human condition. This field is especially related to body and clothes, so it is important to investigate the sense of fit and usability and ease of understanding.

  • #11 Fujitsu Design offers all customers stability and reliability through platforms that serve as infrastructure. Connecting products and services such as servers, storage and other devices billing and authentication systems, and core software used by diverse types of businesses.
  • #12 In experience design. we visualize the problems of customers and try to resolve the problem from a design point of view. In addition to hardware and software, we improve the service, usage, and relationship with equipment and the total space. Co-creation with customers is the most important process. This is the most advanced area of design where design contributes to customers addressing their challenges by the use of ICT.

  • #21 We learned a lot from the field work, Many things we need to solve and make better, We could improve the user experience through design.
  • #22 At that time, the 2016 model development was almost finished, But we made the model better using the findings in our research Here are some examples:
  • #23 During our research, We found that many students think of creative hacks to use their machine more conveniently, Some students use accessories to tilt the angle, some students put on stickers for customizing. Almost all schools now have a 3D printer, and even if not, students can easiliy order 3D prints on online.
