"Tone of voice" is a super important instrument to build personality into digital products. It's not about copywriting, it's an expression of the brand identity.
21 RULES to Rock Your Next Pitch or SXSW SessionStan Phelps
Here's the problem: According to most studies, the number one fear for people is public speaking. Number two is death. In the words of Jerry Seinfeld, "This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy."
Here's the truth: No one is born a natural at public speaking. It scares the living daylights out of everyone. Mark Twain perhaps put it best, "There are two types of speakers in this world: those that are nervous and those that are liars.”
Here's the solution: It takes discipline and practice to channel your nerves. This deck will provide guidelines to help you on that journey. 21 rules of thumb by the numbers. Simple and understandable rules of the road that you can immediately use to become a better presenter. Whether you are making a business pitch or getting ready to rock your next SXSW session, these rules will help sharpen your saw. Because nothing in life is more important than the ability to communicate.
Ready to rock?

Sass Code Reviews - How one code review changed my life #SassConf2015Stacy Kvernmo
After writing CSS for over 10 years you'd think you would know everything there is to know, right? I couldn't be more wrong and I found out the hard way. While my first formal code review session was painfully embarrassing it was also the most important lesson I have learned throughout my career. Code reviews force you to communicate on a different level which ultimately leads to more thoughtful coding practices. When writing Sass and other pre-processed languages it is even more important that you review your code continually, which even the more seasoned front end developers may neglect at times.
Bottom line: Code reviews will make you better.

I made this presentation at the ECIPE Workshop: "Will 3D Printing change everything?" held on October 6th, 2015. It looks at sectoral disruption driven by adoption of 3D printing, while it also presents short-term regulatory aspects that will affect the diffusion of this technology. The presentation also provides a more general reflection on the wider economic and societal perspective surrounding the widespread adoption of 3D printing.
Cross device applications have become more common among major companies in the last few years. It's a real challenge to preserve Agility and to keep your lead time short enough over 10 or 20 applications which also have to grow together… Were shall we start, how can we organize the team to make it work flawlessly? Rock bands from the late 60's and early 70's are a reference for a lot of people across several domains: Artists, Inventors, Scientists, and many more. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors,… So many great examples of people creating amazing work together and also a wonderful source of inspiration. Let's take a deeper look at Led Zeppelin. A mythic rock band with charismatic members and a lot of interesting patterns with many similarities to Scrum. They that helped us to make our teams rock and build powerful, complex yet really Agile products.

Going from "camp..." to "Oh, Wow, THAT CAMP!"
Some summer camps are still practitioners of the old campfire tradition: telling great stories.
I find that that skill set is diminishing. When I go to visit camps in the summer I rarely see that awesome moment of kids leaning forward in anticipation while a leader holds them in wrap attention with tales of adventure or of heroes overcoming great odds.
We're missing something very important.
That storytelling skill will be the one thing that we can do to fight the malaise of our industry: camp is dying.
In this keynote address, I will be talking about ways to tell the amazing stories of the transformation power of camp and showing some cool examples from the world of summer camp (and beyond!)
Together we can save camp!

Deep learning is a new and exciting subfield of machine learning which attempts to sidestep the whole feature design process. In this session, I'll explain how it derives from AI, why it quietly became a part of user experience and how it will change the actual design workflow. The talk highlights a few examples and doesn't forget to illustrate why user experience design for artificial intelligence matters the other way around.
In this session, I explain why user experience design for artificial intelligence matters. How you make machine learning transparent to users is one of the great design challenges of our time—but a necessary one.
In this talk, presented at the UX Forum in Munich, I had a look at the Artificial Intelligence landscape, and the differences between Machine Learning and Deep Learning. The session walks through a big range of use cases in fields such as object and face recognition and showcases how the design industry is charging up with new powers.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.
