@Non Pharmacological Therapy for HypertensionRyan Tsao
This document discusses various approaches for treating hypertension in 2014, including both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. It summarizes that:
1) Non-pharmacological treatments discussed include lifestyle modifications like reducing sodium intake, weight loss, and exercise; device-guided breathing exercises; isometric handgrip exercises; and baroreflex activation therapy.
2) Vaccines targeting the renin-angiotensin system show potential for lowering blood pressure but past trials have been halted or shown limited effectiveness due to safety concerns.
3) Baroreflex activation therapy, delivered via the Rheos system, has been shown in clinical trials to significantly lower systolic blood pressure in patients with resistant hypertension.
This document provides an overview of nutrition topics discussed from 2007 to 2015, including links to related articles. It introduces advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and provides six tips to reduce AGEs in cooking, such as limiting cooking time and temperature. The tips suggest using oils high in monounsaturated fatty acids or polyunsaturated fatty acids like olive oil to prevent the formation and accumulation of AGEs in the body.
This talk address the BP guidelines from world societies and also from Taiwan Society of Cardiology (TSOC). See the outline below:
