- We both work in the Interactive Retail Division for iQmetrix, with is a software solutions company for mobile retailers.
- Before we get into how / what we mean by that, let’s look at Shopping in the the general sense – and Nancy’s going to take us through that:
- First we looked at how people currently shop- Go to the store – check out product, touch, feel, itShop online – comparison shop – find the best price, research – user reviews- Mobile – snapping QR codes to find more info about a product, look for a store on where to buy something
- Physical and digital lines are blurring to create one great experience.
- What does it mean to have 1 integrated shopping space?Technology INGRAINED within the store space. Digital being an extension of the physical. (Digital devices actually being an extension of the store)Physical affecting the digital (Actions done in the physical space affecting digital devices – motion recognition – storescape – facial recognition serving up targeted products)User reviews, comparison, research – tasks that you would normally do online or on your mobile – being brought INTO the physical space.Customer Empowerment (This in turn empowers the customer – they no longer need to rely on the salespeople)

- Even though we have a software product that technically lies within the digital space, it’s important that we examine and influence the “physical wrapper” / physical space surrounding our devices to place context as to where and how our customers are interacting with our devices.Understand the workflow of our store and be efficient with the space / environment.Scale our devices accordingly because some of our clients have large, flagship stores whereas our other clients may have very small space to work in.Treating the place / environment as an interface.Relevant purpose given its location / Context of where it will be enjoyed
