1. A new adaptive local dimming method for mercury-free flat fluorescent lamps is proposed using dual auxiliary electrodes.
2. The method allows independent control of luminance in different sections of the lamp through separate auxiliary electrodes.
3. Experimental results show that the luminance can be locally controlled in two sections of the lamp with the proposed dual auxiliary electrode structure and dimming technique. This new method provides a way to realize adaptive local dimming for flat panel lamps.
