2. As you can see from these results, 50% of the people who took part in my survey
said that they rather enjoy a soap opera that has conflict and 0% of participants do
not like a soap opera with a theme of social conflict. This may be because I did not
make the question clear enough by offering examples such as drugs or teenage
pregnancy. Or it could be because of the fact that people do not find social issues
in a soap opera intriguing to watch.
3. As you can see clearly here, this question is about the clarification of gender. However,
what makes this more special is that I have successfully asked 5 girls and 5 boys to take
part in my survey so the answers are less bias.
4. The majority of participants who completed the survey were 15-17 year olds.
this means that soap opera’s are watched by this type of audience and so
when creating my actual soap opera trailer I should try and make the
trailer attending to the needs of this target audience for more potential positive feedback.
5. I asked this question because that way I can get an understand of how to shape
and form my trailer. For example, the most selected answer was ‘Eastenders’ which
scored 80% in this survey. That means I could try and add characters and similar
multi-stand narratives to the ones that are on ‘Eastenders’. If I do this successfully
then I can ensure that I have a lot of positive feedback for my own trailer.
6. This result came out better than I expected because 40% of the participants
who answered my survey picked ‘rarely’, which is its highest result for that particular question.
this is a bonus because since people are not entertained by soap opera’s aired on television,
then I can spot some gaps to see why people rarely watch soap opera’s. If I find these
gaps then it can help the team and I to not make the same mistakes with our trailer.
7. I asked this question so I get a deeper understanding of what people
look for in a soap opera. As you can see people chose ‘how well the character
is presented’ as the most important feature of a soap opera trailer. This means
that instead focusing on ‘the location’, as an example, I can focus more on
how to make the character appear professional and eye- catching in the
roles presented.
8. From slide 3, the most popular age group to enjoy a soap opera trailer was 15-17 years
old. As you can see, there is a clear link between this result and the results from question 3
because they both received an 80% score. This furthermore supports the idea that I should
aim my soap opera trailer at 15-17 year olds.
9. As you can see, I do have a lot of supportive and positive responses. This question
is important because it is part of my duty as the producer, to ensure that the audience
feel ‘adventurous’ or even ‘excited’. I need to make my trailer appear viewable to
watch. I asked this question so I know exactly what my trailer should provide other
people after watching it.
10. As you can see, the most popular type of character my audience expects in a soap
opera trailer is a very over confident character, and perhaps this type of character invites
more disasters in a specific narrative as oppose to a character who is just ‘witty’ or ‘likable’.
Therefore, this can help me to focus more deeply on how my characters should be presented
to intrigue the audience into enjoying the trailer. I am more likely to make my characters appear
confident because 60% of participants find this important when watching a soap opera.
