Experimental Design
 50 d old chicks were cultured and confirmed to be free of
Salmonella
 On d 2, 9, and 16 chicks were experimentally infected with multiple
Ab resistant S. Typhimurium
 On d 20, uninfected chicks were culled and two equal groups were
created based on BW and Salmonella shedding
 On d 21, chicks were assigned to Control or Trt (Same as Cont diet
with addition of 2.5 Lbs/T XPC)
 Salmonella shedding was quantitated on Days 28, 35, and 42.
 Antibiotic resistance of the recovered Salmonella was assessed on
Days 28, 35, 42, and 49.
 Salmonella intestinal colonization was quantitated in euthanized
birds on Day 49.
 Recovered Salmonella were subjected to a virulence assay on Days
28, 35, 42, and 49.
