1 WEEK 2 - ASSIGNMENT 1 4 Week 2 - Assignment 1: Associate Research Concept and Research Question Question one Question stem: How do differences in age group contribute to chronic disease? Participants The main participants in this research study are people of different age groups ranging from youths and older adults of both genders who are at high risk of chronic disease victims. Participants to use in this research study will be grouped to help in collecting reliable information for better decision making. Research context Statistically, chronic diseases are common among old age people. The high rate of such infections among older adults is due to a low metabolic rate because to reduce physical activities among older adults. As well, chronic disease is also common among young adult who lives poor lifestyle choices like poor diet, overconsumption of alcohol and frequent smoking (Woolf, Aron, National Academies & Institute of Medicine, 2013) Purpose and impact of the research The purpose of this research is to study how differences in age group affect the rate of infection of chronic diseases among people living in the United States. In doing so, data will be collected from different age groups ranging from young adults to old adults. The main impact of this study is to identify the most affected age group with chronic diseases to find possible causes of action that should be then to reduce the chances of infections. For example, a high rate of infection among young people due to the high rate of smoking can be reduced by advising them to stop engaging such activities (Busse & Blümel, 2011). Aspects of the main focus The critical element to address in this study is to find possible ways of reducing infection of chronic diseases among the different age groups in the United States. To achieve the goal of the research study, a random sampling method will be done to collect data about how age group differences infection of chronic diseases. In doing so, relevant information will be collected from participants for analysis to answer the research question. Another essential step that should be done in this study is to identify the right participants that will help in collecting relevant information (Busse & Blümel, 2011). The main research focus The main focus of this research study is to address or answer the research question. It will pay more attention to how differences in age group contribute to many infections of chronic diseases. Based on past research studies, it evident that differences in age groups affect the risk of being chronic diseases. Nursing Practice Problem
P-(Problem) – elderly patients aged above 50 years admitted in hospital and having shown blood pressure disease signs. Patients not included in the research were pregnant women.
I-(Intervention) – the patients who are subject in this research will be subjected to therapeutic routine concerning hypertension. The blood pressure of all the patients was tested after administering hypertension medicine to the subjects. The resultant changes were recorded every day to determine the reaction and thus the group will make a conclusion.
C-(Comparison) – institutionalized quality methods will be regulated for hypertension and subjected to the group. The comparison between the groups will be done towards the end of the month in the group.
O-(Outcome) - there will be good relation between the hypertension medication and blood pressure.
T-(Time) – for the next one month the blood pressure will be monitored closely.
The nursing practice portion should be in paragraph form.
PICOT Statement
Elderly patients under hypertension medication together with pharmacological interventions can be maintained in hospitals to improve their blood pressure and with understanding the background and culture of the patients will be of great help in dealing with hypertension. This study examined the stability of eating disorder (ED) clas-
sifications among a population-based sample of male and
female adolescents (n = 2,516) who participated in Project
EAT-II, a five-year longitudinal study. Cross-tabulations using
weighted data identified diagnostic stability across six classifica-
tions (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder,
Binge Eating and/or Compensatory Behaviors not meeting ED
diagnosis, Body Image Disturbance without disordered eating,
and Asymptomatic). One-third (32.6%) of adolescents who were
asymptomatic at baseline and over half of those who were symp-
tomatic at baseline reported symptoms five years later. All males
and 82% of females with a threshold diagnosis at baseline
remained symptomatic five years later, but rarely within the same

classification. In conclusion, the presence of ED symptoms in ado-
lescence strongly predicts ED symptoms five years later. ED diag-
noses and classifications were unstable over time, underscoring
the critical need for prevention efforts and periodic assessment and
encouraging early detection and intervention among adolescents.
In clinical populations of adults with eating disorders, it has been well
documented that eating disorder diagnoses are unstable over time (Eddy
et al., 2008; Fichter & Quadflieg, 2007; Keel, Mitchell, Miller, Davis, & Crow,

Clinical Problem
A report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2015 revealed that (9.4%) 30.3 million Americans are diabetic and 84.1 million have prediabetes. This is a total population of over 100 million is at risk of developing type 2 diabetes which is a growing health problem being the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. An estimated 1.5 million new cases were among 18-year old bracket and the rates of diagnosed diabetes increased proportionally to age. Below 44 years accounted for 4%, below 64 years at 17 % and 25% for those above 65 years across both genders. One-third of adults in America has prediabetes but sadly, they are unaware despite reports released by The National Diabetes Statistics Report every year. These reports elaborate on prevalence and incidence, prediabetes, long-term complications, risk factors, mortality, and cost. Diabetes poses the risk of serious complications like death, blindness, stroke, kidney disorders, cardiac diseases and health problems that lead to amputation of legs. However, the risks can be mitigated through physical body activities, proper dieting and prescribed use of insulin and other related measures to control the blood sugar levels. Diabetes Prevention Program was funded by NIH to research a yearly evidence-based program to improve healthy weight loss through diet and physical activities. There also efforts to determine the effectiveness of public service campaigns in improving the real-life experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes.
PICOT Question.
The population affected by diabetes cuts across all ages, gender, race, and ethnicity. The prevalence is significantly high from 18 years and it increases with age to about 25% above 65 years. In terms of gender, men are at higher risk accounting for 37% while women are at 30% across races and educational levels. On races, the rates were higher among Indians/Alaska natives at 15%, non-Hispanic blacks at 12.7% and Hispanics at 12%. Among Asians, the rates were lower at 8% and 7.4% for non-Hispanic whites.
Intervention indicator for diabetes shows that individuals who do not observe a healthy diet are more exposed to the disease. Some risk behaviors include lack of exercise and excessive intake of junk foods that lead to obesity and increased blood sugar levels. Diabetes prevalence varied according to education levels were those with less than high school education at 12.6% and 7.2% for those higher than high school education.
Comparison and use of a control group from the popularity of Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine showed distinct knowledge of diabetes, blood sugar control, and self-care. The experimental group received education through interactive multimedia for three months while the control group received.

Over view of the study
Obesity is currently affecting more than 37.9 percent of all the adults in the United States.
Annually, the government spends about 147 million dollars to address issues related to obesity only.
With this issue being extremely important, the study aims to obtain more information about the issue in the country.
The study then aims to use the findings that will be obtained to make recommendations of appropriate intervention strategies.
Statistical evidence clarify that obesity is a significant problem in the United States. Through this condition, more than 37.9 percent of the United States feel adverse negative effects, and are considered less healthy compared to other people.
This study has its main purpose being to make sure that effective strategies have been developed through which the issue will become less significant in terms of effect and money.

PICOT is a research explanation model which stands for people/population, intervention, comparison, outcome and time.
The population that is aimed to benefit from this study is both the young, the youths and the old who can obtain the condition of obesity (Mehta, Elo, Aromaa, & Koskinen, 2017).

Measures. Several measures of drinking and exercise were analyzed. Specifications included
numerous health, health behavior, socioeconomic, and demographic control variables.
Results. For women, current drinkers exercise 7.2 more minutes per week than abstainers.
Ten extra drinks per month are associated with 2.2 extra minutes per week of physical activity.
When compared with current abstainers, light, moderate, and heavy drinkers exercise 5.7,
10.1, and 19.9 more minutes per week. Drinking is associated with a 10.1 percentage point
increase in the probability of exercising vigorously. Ten extra drinks per month are associated
with a 2.0 percentage point increase in the probability of engaging in vigorous physical activity.
Light, moderate, and heavy drinking are associated with 9.0, 14.3, and 13.7 percentage point
increases in the probability of exercising vigorously. The estimation results for men are similar to
those for women.
Conclusions. Our results strongly suggest that alcohol consumption and physical activity are
positively correlated. The association persists at heavy drinking levels. (Am J Health Promot

Type 1 juvenile diabetes, also known as insulin-dependent, is a chronic autoimmune disease that afflicts children and teens and is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases among these age groups (Barnetz, Z., & Feigin, R. (2012). That afflicts approximately 30 million people in the United States, about 1.25 million have type 1 diabetes. Recent studies have shown fifty percent of people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes are over the age of 20. Every year, approximately 40,000 people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and this number is on the rise. Insulin and glucose are processed after a person eats a meal; food is broken down into glucose and nutrients, which absorbed into the bloodstream. This process will cause sugar levels in the blood to rise and will trigger the pancreas to process the hormone insulin and send it into the bloodstream (Nakayasu, E. S., et al., 2020).
In-person(s) with diabetes, the body either cannot make or cannot respond to insulin appropriately. It means the sugar stays in the bloodstream rather than getting into cells, where the sugar is used for energy. Because they were not converted into energy, the people with type 1 diabetes take artificial insulin throughout the day to offset high blood sugars. They take this medicine multiple doses of insulin daily, through injections or an insulin pump worn on the body. On the one hand, these measures are undoubtedly helpful for maintaining a steady blood sugar level (Basso RVJ, & Pelech WJ., 2008). Many variables go into diabetes management, such as diet, exercise, hormones, stress levels, and many more. Unfortunately, as it is today, there is no cure for diabetes, maybe in the future. Each child who is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Will have the condition for the rest of his/her life until there is a cure. The risk of developing diabetes is higher than virtually every other childhood, chronic illness. Studies estimated one out of every three babies born each day will probably have diabetes in their lifetime (Nakayasu, E. S., et al., 2020).
Social and behavioral factors
The social and behavioral factors that cause an increase in childhood diabetes, also called juvenile diabetes, are complicated — discussing the cause of childhood diabetes with pediatricians in Sinai Hospital Baltimore, Maryland, my place of volunteer work. The doctor's told me, the origin of the factors is complicated. The doctor's said there are two sides to look at childhood diabetes. First, I was told that children who are born with the condition; the cause might be a result of the parent's social behavior during pregnancy — for example, unhealthy eating, alcohol, smoking, etc. Second, the children that got condition after birth may have got it from the unhealthy nutrition from the parents, the groups they keep, or the community.

Researchers analyzed survey data from over 800 high school students regarding their physical activity levels and health behaviors over the past 30 days. They found that adolescents who engaged in high levels of vigorous physical activity were less likely to use marijuana or engage in heavy marijuana use, consumed more healthy carbohydrates and fats, used stress management techniques more frequently, and reported better quality of sleep compared to those with low vigorous physical activity. Few differences were seen based on frequency of moderate physical activity. The findings suggest frequent vigorous physical activity in adolescents may reduce risky behaviors and promote healthy behaviors. More research is needed to better understand these relationships.

This study used data from the CAMH Monitor survey conducted between 2001-2009 to examine the prevalence and predictors of anxiety and mood disorders (AMD) across three age groups (18-30 years old, 31-54 years old, and 55+ years old) in Ontario, Canada. The study found that the prevalence of AMD was highest in the youngest age group (10.8%) and lowest in the oldest age group (6.5%). Logistic regression analysis showed that for the youngest group, being female, never married, lower income, and poor physical/mental health increased odds of AMD. There has been increased concern among policy makers, scientists and communities that health is greatly affected by a number of factors that occur in a person’s lifetime and in multi levels. Prevention is sententious to curb occurrence of any disease within the population, and it has to come first even if access to quality healthcare services is provided. To adequately promote health and prevent diseases, certain policies and factors need to be addressed mostly factors that are related to health behaviors.
Social psychology is all about understanding individuals’ behavior specifically in a social setting. Basically, social psychology focuses on factors that influence people to behave in certain ways in presence of others. The two greatest contributors in the field of social psychology were Allport (1920) and Bandura (1963). To begin with, according to Allport; he argued that the interaction of individuals with others or the presence of social groups can encourage the development of certain behaviors (Kassin, 2014). This is what Allport referred to as social facilitation, in his research he identified that an audience will facilitate the performance of an actor in a well learnt and understood task; however the performance of the same actor will decrease in performance on difficult tasks which are newly learnt, and this is contributed by social inhibition. The second contributor in the field of social psychology is Bandura (1963), in his work he developed a notion that behavior in the social world could be possibly modeled, and this is what he referred to as social learning theory. He gave his explanation with three groups of children who were watching a video where in the video an adult showed aggressiveness towards a “bobo doll” and the adults who displayed such behavior were awarded by another adult or were just punished. Therefore Bandura found that children who saw the adult being rewarded were found to be more likely to imitate that adult’s behavior.
Certain theories plays important roles in health assessment, and a theory is defined as a collection of concepts in specific area of concern or interest in the world that need explanations, intervening and prediction. Theories need to be backed up with evidence that tend to explain why things will happen in relation to current situations, and followed with some actions to turn situations in certain desirable ways. An emphasis on perceived risk alone may be inadequate to predict or change behavior because a risk is only part of the behavioral decision-making equation. What is missing knows the extent to which adolescents perceive benefits of risky behaviors. The decision literature has argued that individuals should consider both the risks and benefits when making decisions. In addition, alcohol expectancy researchers have found that perceived benefits, in addition to perceived risks, are significant predictors of drinking behavior. More recently, Goldberg and colleagues (2002) concluded that, regardless of age, participants with more drinking experience perceived benefits to be more likely to occur, and risks less likely (Grube & Voas, 2014).
Indeed, adolescents' reasons for drinking alcohol often include an acknowledgment or identification of alcohol-related benefits, such as alcohol being used in social interactions to help them to reduce inhibitions, feel more relaxed reduce tension, foster courage, and reduce worry. Attachment theories are based on the view that human beings have an intrinsic and universal desire to be accepted by others. Parent attachment is broadly conceptualized as the overall level of parental responsiveness toward the offspring.
The youth’s internalization of the security of attachment is expected to be imprinted heuristically through interaction with the caregiver, in time becoming relatively resistant to change, showing enduring effects across the lifespan (Miller, et al., 2010). Abstract
Few studies have examined the relationship between physical activities and health outcomes among adolescents. The majority of the adult population knows much about health-risk behaviours of adolescents, and knows less about their health-promoting behaviours. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between physical activity levels and self-efficacy among adolescents.
Introduction
According to Start Active, regular physical activity associates with benefits for physical and mental health (as cited in Roberts et al, 2015). Studies have indicated that health life traits and styles have an impact on lifelong health and life quality. Childhood poor diet and physical inactivity have been risk factors for a multitude of chronic health condition in adulthood (Matthews et al, 2015). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for children, only 42% of children and 8% of adolescents achieve current recommended physical activity.
Most students studying in Hoca Ahment Yesevi University were hound to have health issues emanating from lack of physical exercise and personal fitness programs (Ozkan, 2015). Up to 70 per cent of university students are reported as not participating in regular free-time physical activity or exercise (Haase et al, 2004, as cited in Roberts et al, 2014). Simon et al (2015) mentioned that majority of the adult population fails to achieve recommended daily exercise, 30-minutes moderate intensity exercise. When physical activity is conducted regularly as the researchers found out, it is likely to improve the physical fitness of the students and generally of people and therefore contributing heavily to better healthy life styles. Achieving daily exercise was shown to promote better sleep quality and higher psychological functioning in adolescents (Kalak et al, 2012, as cited in Rew et al, 2015).
Styles and activities that promote the health of humans increase their chances of wellbeing and therefore promote healthy living. In achieving well-being in health, there must be a mentioned engagement in activities which are likely to enhance the same such as proper exercises and fitness methods. Health promotion takes quite a multidimensional structure, that is, intellectual, mental, physical and social and therefore a number of behaviours which are meant at promoting behaviours are identified by health professionals and other researchers. These behaviours include life appreciation, stress management, health responsibility, social support, exercise and better nutrition. Therefore a general conclusion is arrived at that physical activity and exercise have an impact on the quality of human life and can actually aid its improveme.

Some companies use incentive pay extensively. Lincoln Electric Company, a manufacturer of
welding machines and motors, is renowned for its use of incentive pay plans. At Lincoln
Electric, production employees receive recurring base pay as well as incentive pay. The
company determines incentive pay awards according to five performance criteria: quality,
output, dependability, cooperation, and ideas. The company has awarded incentive payments
every year since 1934, through prosperous and poor economic times. In 2014, the average
profit sharing payment per employee was $33,984.

Abstract
Purpose. Investigate the relationship between alcohol consumption and physical activity
because understanding whether there are common determinants of health behaviors is critical in
designing programs to change risky activities.
Design. Cross-sectional analysis.
Setting. United States.
Subjects. A sample of adults representative of the U.S. population (N 5 230,856) from the
2005 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.
Measures. Several measures of drinking and exercise were analyzed. Specifications included
numerous health, health behavior, socioeconomic, and demographic control variables.
Results. For women, current drinkers exercise 7.2 more minutes per week than abstainers.
Ten extra drinks per month are associated with 2.2 extra minutes per week of physical activity.
When compared with current abstainers, light, moderate, and heavy drinkers exercise 5.7,
10.1, and 19.9 more minutes per week. Drinking is associated with a 10.1 percentage point
increase in the probability of exercising vigorously. Ten extra drinks per month are associated
with a 2.0 percentage point increase in the probability of engaging in vigorous physical activity.
Light, moderate, and heavy drinking are associated with 9.0, 14.3, and 13.7 percentage point
increases in the probability of exercising vigorously. The estimation results for men are similar to
those for women.
Conclusions. Our results strongly suggest that alcohol consumption and physical activity are
positively correlated. The association persists at heavy drinking levels. (Am J Health Promot

Type 1 juvenile diabetes, also known as insulin-dependent, is a chronic autoimmune disease that afflicts children and teens and is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases among these age groups (Barnetz, Z., & Feigin, R. (2012). That afflicts approximately 30 million people in the United States, about 1.25 million have type 1 diabetes. Recent studies have shown fifty percent of people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes are over the age of 20. Every year, approximately 40,000 people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and this number is on the rise. Insulin and glucose are processed after a person eats a meal; food is broken down into glucose and nutrients, which absorbed into the bloodstream. This process will cause sugar levels in the blood to rise and will trigger the pancreas to process the hormone insulin and send it into the bloodstream (Nakayasu, E. S., et al., 2020).
In-person(s) with diabetes, the body either cannot make or cannot respond to insulin appropriately. It means the sugar stays in the bloodstream rather than getting into cells, where the sugar is used for energy. Because they were not converted into energy, the people with type 1 diabetes take artificial insulin throughout the day to offset high blood sugars. They take this medicine multiple doses of insulin daily, through injections or an insulin pump worn on the body. On the one hand, these measures are undoubtedly helpful for maintaining a steady blood sugar level (Basso RVJ, & Pelech WJ., 2008). Many variables go into diabetes management, such as diet, exercise, hormones, stress levels, and many more. Unfortunately, as it is today, there is no cure for diabetes, maybe in the future. Each child who is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Will have the condition for the rest of his/her life until there is a cure. The risk of developing diabetes is higher than virtually every other childhood, chronic illness. Studies estimated one out of every three babies born each day will probably have diabetes in their lifetime (Nakayasu, E. S., et al., 2020).

The social and behavioral factors that cause an increase in childhood diabetes, also called juvenile diabetes, are complicated — discussing the cause of childhood diabetes with pediatricians in Sinai Hospital Baltimore, Maryland, my place of volunteer work. The doctor's told me, the origin of the factors is complicated. The doctor's said there are two sides to look at childhood diabetes. First, I was told that children who are born with the condition; the cause might be a result of the parent's social behavior during pregnancy — for example, unhealthy eating, alcohol, smoking, etc. Second, the children that got condition after birth may have got it from the unhealthy nutrition from the parents, the groups they keep, or the community.

Researchers analyzed survey data from over 800 high school students regarding their physical activity levels and health behaviors over the past 30 days. They found that adolescents who engaged in high levels of vigorous physical activity were less likely to use marijuana or engage in heavy marijuana use, consumed more healthy carbohydrates and fats, used stress management techniques more frequently, and reported better quality of sleep compared to those with low vigorous physical activity. Few differences were seen based on frequency of moderate physical activity. The findings suggest frequent vigorous physical activity in adolescents may reduce risky behaviors and promote healthy behaviors. More research is needed to better understand these relationships.

This study used data from the CAMH Monitor survey conducted between 2001-2009 to examine the prevalence and predictors of anxiety and mood disorders (AMD) across three age groups (18-30 years old, 31-54 years old, and 55+ years old) in Ontario, Canada. The study found that the prevalence of AMD was highest in the youngest age group (10.8%) and lowest in the oldest age group (6.5%). Logistic regression analysis showed that for the youngest group, being female, never married, lower income, and poor physical/mental health increased odds of AMD. For the middle-aged and older groups, the same factors as well as cannabis and alcohol problems increased odds of AMD. There has been increased concern among policy makers, scientists and communities that health is greatly affected by a number of factors that occur in a person’s lifetime and in multi levels. Prevention is sententious to curb occurrence of any disease within the population, and it has to come first even if access to quality healthcare services is provided. To adequately promote health and prevent diseases, certain policies and factors need to be addressed mostly factors that are related to health behaviors.
Social psychology is all about understanding individuals’ behavior specifically in a social setting. Basically, social psychology focuses on factors that influence people to behave in certain ways in presence of others. The two greatest contributors in the field of social psychology were Allport (1920) and Bandura (1963). To begin with, according to Allport; he argued that the interaction of individuals with others or the presence of social groups can encourage the development of certain behaviors (Kassin, 2014). This is what Allport referred to as social facilitation, in his research he identified that an audience will facilitate the performance of an actor in a well learnt and understood task; however the performance of the same actor will decrease in performance on difficult tasks which are newly learnt, and this is contributed by social inhibition. The second contributor in the field of social psychology is Bandura (1963), in his work he developed a notion that behavior in the social world could be possibly modeled, and this is what he referred to as social learning theory. He gave his explanation with three groups of children who were watching a video where in the video an adult showed aggressiveness towards a “bobo doll” and the adults who displayed such behavior were awarded by another adult or were just punished. Therefore Bandura found that children who saw the adult being rewarded were found to be more likely to imitate that adult’s behavior.
Certain theories plays important roles in health assessment, and a theory is defined as a collection of concepts in specific area of concern or interest in the world that need explanations, intervening and prediction. Theories need to be backed up with evidence that tend to explain why things will happen in relation to current situations, and followed with some actions to turn situations in certain desirable ways. In addition, alcohol expectancy researchers have found that perceived benefits, in addition to perceived risks, are significant predictors of drinking behavior. More recently, Goldberg and colleagues (2002) concluded that, regardless of age, participants with more drinking experience perceived benefits to be more likely to occur, and risks less likely (Grube & Voas, 2014).
Indeed, adolescents' reasons for drinking alcohol often include an acknowledgment or identification of alcohol-related benefits, such as alcohol being used in social interactions to help them to reduce inhibitions, feel more relaxed reduce tension, foster courage, and reduce worry. Attachment theories are based on the view that human beings have an intrinsic and universal desire to be accepted by others. Parent attachment is broadly conceptualized as the overall level of parental responsiveness toward the offspring.
The youth’s internalization of the security of attachment is expected to be imprinted heuristically through interaction with the caregiver, in time becoming relatively resistant to change, showing enduring effects across the lifespan (Miller, et al., 2010). The Relationship between Physical Activity and Self-Efficacy in Schools
Abstract
Few studies have examined the relationship between physical activities and health outcomes among adolescents. The majority of the adult population knows much about health-risk behaviours of adolescents, and knows less about their health-promoting behaviours. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between physical activity levels and self-efficacy among adolescents.
Introduction
According to Start Active, regular physical activity associates with benefits for physical and mental health (as cited in Roberts et al, 2015). Studies have indicated that health life traits and styles have an impact on lifelong health and life quality. Childhood poor diet and physical inactivity have been risk factors for a multitude of chronic health condition in adulthood (Matthews et al, 2015). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for children, only 42% of children and 8% of adolescents achieve current recommended physical activity.
Most students studying in Hoca Ahment Yesevi University were hound to have health issues emanating from lack of physical exercise and personal fitness programs (Ozkan, 2015). Up to 70 per cent of university students are reported as not participating in regular free-time physical activity or exercise (Haase et al, 2004, as cited in Roberts et al, 2014). Simon et al (2015) mentioned that majority of the adult population fails to achieve recommended daily exercise, 30-minutes moderate intensity exercise. When physical activity is conducted regularly as the researchers found out, it is likely to improve the physical fitness of the students and generally of people and therefore contributing heavily to better healthy life styles. Achieving daily exercise was shown to promote better sleep quality and higher psychological functioning in adolescents (Kalak et al, 2012, as cited in Rew et al, 2015).
Styles and activities that promote the health of humans increase their chances of wellbeing and therefore promote healthy living. In achieving well-being in health, there must be a mentioned engagement in activities which are likely to enhance the same such as proper exercises and fitness methods. Health promotion takes quite a multidimensional structure, that is, intellectual, mental, physical and social and therefore a number of behaviours which are meant at promoting behaviours are identified by health professionals and other researchers. These behaviours include life appreciation, stress management, health responsibility, social support, exercise and better nutrition. Therefore a general conclusion is arrived at that physical activity and exercise have an impact on the quality of human life and can actually aid its improveme.

After working at Ford for 25 years, Alan Mulally retired as CEO on July 1, 2014—8 years after
leading Ford’s transformation. Chair Bill Ford said, “Alan deservedly will be long remembered for

Ford not only survived the global economic crisis, it emerged as one of the world’s strongest auto

it closed at $17.21 on the day he retired. In 2011 he was awarded stock bonuses worth
$56.5 million (Henry, 2011).

Incentive or variable pay is defined as compensation, other than base wages or salaries that
fluctuate according to employees’ attainment of some standard, such as a preestablished
formula, individual or group goals, or company earnings.
Effective incentive pay systems are based on three assumptions:
Individual employees and work teams differ in how much they contribute to the
company, both in what they do as well as in how well they do it.
The company’s overall performance depends to a large degree on the performance of
individuals and groups within the company.
To attract, retain, and motivate high performers and to be fair to all employees, a
company needs to reward employees on the basis of their relative performance.
Much like seniority and merit pay approaches, incentive pay augments employees’ base pay,
but incentive pay appears as a one-time payment. Employees usually receive a combination
of recurring base pay and incentive pay, with base pay representing the greater portion of
core compensation. More employees are presently eligible for incentive pay than ever before,
as companies seek to control costs and motivate personnel continually to strive for exemplary
performance. Companies increasingly recognize the importance of applying incentive pay
programs to various kinds of employees as well, including production workers, technical
employees, and service workers.
Some companies use incentive pay extensively. Lincoln Electric Company, a manufacturer of
welding machines and motors, is renowned for its use of incentive pay plans. At Lincoln
Electric, production employees receive recurring base pay as well as incentive pay. The
company determines incentive pay awards according to five performance criteria: quality,
output, dependability, cooperation, and ideas. The company has awarded incentive payments
every year since 1934, through prosperous and poor economic times. In 2014, the average
profit sharing payment per employee was $33,984.
Coupled with average base
pay, total core compensation for Lincoln employees was $82,903. Over the past 10 years,
Lincoln’s profit-sharing payments averaged approximately 40 percent of annual salary.

Introduction
As described in Chapter 2, strategic HRM is a mindset that leads to strategic actions and reac-
tions, either in the form of overall or specifi c HR strategies or strategic behaviour on the part
of HR professionals. This chapter focuses on HR strategies and answers the following ques-
tions: What are HR strategies? What are the main types of overall HR strategies? What are the
main areas in which specifi c HR strategies are developed? What are the criteria for an effective
HR strategy? How should HR strategies be developed? How should HR strategies be
implemented?
What are HR strategies?
HR strategies set out what the organization intends to do about its human resource manage-
ment policies and practices and how they should be integrated with the business strategy and
each other. They are described by Dyer and Reeves (1995) as ‘internally consistent bundles of
human resource practices’. Richardson and Thompson (1999) suggest that:
A strategy, whether it is an HR strategy or any other kind of management strategy must
have two key elements: there must be strategic objectives (ie things the strategy is sup-
posed to achieve), and there must be a plan of action (ie the means by which it is pro-
posed that the objectives will be met).
The purpose of HR strategies is to articulate what an organization intends to do about its
human resource management policies and practices now and in the longer term, bearing in
mind the dictum of Fombrun et al (1984) that business and managers should perform well in
the present to succeed in the future. HR strategies aim to meet both business and human needs
in the organization.
HR strategies may set out intentions and provide a sense of purpose and direction, but they are
not just long-term plans. As Gratton (2000) commented: ‘There is no great strategy, only great
execution.’
Because all organizations are different, all HR strategies are different. There is no such thing as
a standard strategy and research into HR strategy conducted by Armstrong and Long (1994)
and Armstrong and Baron (2002) revealed many variations. Some strategies are simply very

Alan Mulally was selected to lead Ford in 2006 after he was bypassed as CEO at Boeing, where he had worked and was expected to become CEO. Insiders and top-level managers at Ford, some of whom had expected to become CEO, were initially suspicious and then outraged when Mulally was hired. They questioned what someone from the airplane industry would know about the car business (Kiley, 2009).
Chair William (Bill) Clay Ford, Jr.—who selected Mulally as CEO—told Ford’s officers that the company needed a fresh perspective and a shake-up, especially since it had lost $14.8 billion in 2008—the most in its 105-year history—and had burned through $21.2 billion, or 61%, of its cash (Kiley, 2009). Because Ford knew that the company’s upper echelon culture was closed, bureaucratic, and rejected outsiders and new ways of thinking, he was not surprised by his officers’ reactions. However, Ford’s managers had no idea that the company was fighting for its life. To succeed, Mulally would need Chair Ford’s full endorsement and support, and he got it.
The company’s biggest cultural challenge was to break down the silos that various executives had built. As we will discuss more in Chapter 4, silos are specific processes or departments in an organization that work independently of each other without strong communication between or among them. A lack of communication can often stifle productivity and innovation, and this was exactly what was happening at Ford.
Mulally devised a turnaround strategy and developed it into the Way Forward Plan. The plan centralized and modernized plants to handle several models at once, to be sold in several markets. The plan was designed to break up the fiefdoms of isolated cultures, in which leaders independently developed and decided where to sell cars. Mulally’s plan also kept managers in positions for longer periods of time to deepen their expertise and improve consistency of operations. The manager who ran the Mazda Motor affiliate commented, “I’m going into my fourth year in the same job. I’ve never had such consistency of purpose before” (as cited in Kiley, 2009, “Meetings About Meetings,” para. 2).

Recently, Autism has become a serious health concern to parents. According to Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2018), about one in fifty nine United States children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder with one in six children developing developmental disability ranging from mild disabilities such as speech and language impairments to serious developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and autism (CDC,2018). World Health Organization (2019) estimates that 1 in 160 children globally has autism making it one of the most prevalent diseases. Despite the disease prevalence, most population has little knowledge about the disease. Many health practitioners have proposed early care as a means to control the disease effects.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this study is to determine whether early intervention services can help improve the development of children suffering from autism. This study also aims to explore the general public awareness and perception about autism disorder.
Research Questions
(1) How should service delivery for autistic patients be improved to promote their health? (2) What impact does early intervention services have on development of children suffering from autism? (3) How can public knowledge on autism improve support and care for autistic patients? (4) What effect will early intervention have on patient’s social skills?

Archaeology is a historical field which has advanced over the years based on more discoveries still being experienced by the archaeologists who seek them. According to Kelly and Thomas (2010; p.5), the concession that life existed in more ancient times than stipulated by biblical scholars and human culture allowed the archaeologists to dig deeper into genealogical data. Iron Age architecture and social/society identity relate to one another. For instance, the population, based on their identity and perception will construct buildings that directly reflect their beliefs. This essay will discuss these archaeological concepts of Iron Age architecture and society/social identity. Iron Age architecture has over the years been dominated by differing archaeological concepts and debates. It was defined by settlements and settlement structures such as duns, brochs, wheelhouses, hillforts, stone-built round houses and timber. The social and societal identity which is identified through material remains indicates aspects of differentiation, regional patterns and segregation. Introduction
As senior manager at a large marketing company, Tai has successfully overseen the
development of several small groups into high-functioning teams. She was recently asked
to form a new group that will create a marketing campaign for a struggling product
line. Although past experience tells Tai that this will likely call for a team, she begins the
team-building process by first confirming that a team best suits the project’s complexity.
Once she does so, Tai determines that the structural parameters surrounding the team’s
project, and the essential nature of what it is expected to do, call for a design team in
which members with problem-solving experience and skills are particularly desirable. Tai
meets with potential team leaders, both in-house and out-house, to discuss the resources
they will need. They conclude that understanding and addressing the issues surrounding
the product’s current market struggles will require the team to coordinate and exchange
information with a knowledgeable individual or group within the client organization.

Maynard‐Smith and Haig (1974) recognized the influence of selection
on linked neutral sites, proposing that strong positive selection could
reduce genetic diversity at nearby sites. This process is now referred
to as a ‘selective sweep’. Much later, Charlesworth, Morgan, and
Charlesworth (1993) proposed that deleterious mutations could also
affect genetic diversity at nearby sites, because some haplotypes
would be removed from the population as selection acts against
linked deleterious alleles. They named this process background se‐
lection (BGS). Both selective sweeps and background selection af‐
fect genetic diversity; they both reduce the effective population size
and distort the site frequency spectrum (SFS) of linked loci. Empirical
evidence of a positive correlation between genetic diversity and
recombination rate has been reported in several species (Cutter &
Payseur, 2013), including Drosophila melanogaster (Begun & Aquadro,
1992; Elyashiv et al., 2016), humans (Spencer et al., 2006), collared
flycatchers, hooded crows and Darwin's finches (Dutoit et al., 2017;
see also Vijay et al., 2017).
BGS is also expected to affect FST (Charlesworth, Nordborg, &
Charlesworth, 1997; Cruickshank & Hahn, 2014; Cutter & Payseur,
2013; Hoban et al., 2016). The negative relationship between effec‐
tive population size Ne and FST is captured in Wright's classical in‐
finite island result; FST =

become instrumental in the general expansion of work hours,
facilitating workers’ needs for additional worktime beyond the
standard workweek and/or the ability of employers to increase or
intensify work demands among their salaried employees

Telecommuting, defined here as work tasks regularly performed at home, has achieved enough
traction in the American workplace to
merit intensive scrutiny, with 24 percent
of employed Americans reporting in recent
surveys that they work at least some hours
at home each week.1 The definitions of
telecommuting are quite diverse. In this ar-
ticle, we define telecommuters as employ-
ees who work regularly, but not exclusively,
at home. In our definition, at-home work
activities do not need to be technologically
mediated nor do telecommuters need a
formal arrangement with their employer to
work at home.
Telecommuting is popular with policy
makers and activists, with proponents
pointing out the multiple ways in which
telecommuting can cut commuting time
and costs,2 reduce energy consumption
and traffic congestion, and contribute to
worklife balance for those with caregiving
responsibilities.3 Changes in the structure
of jobs that enable mothers to more effec-
tively compete in the workplace, such as
telecommuting, may be needed to finally
eliminate the gender gap in earnings and
direct more earned income to children,
both important public policy goals.4
Evidence also reveals that an increasing num-
ber of jobs in the American economy could be
performed at home if employers were willing
to allow employees to do so.5 Often, employees
can perform jobs at home without supervision
in the “high-tech” sector, in the financial sector,
and many in the communication sector that are
technology dependent. The obstacles or barriers
to telecommuting seem to be more organiza-
tional, stemming from the managers’ reluctance
to give up direct supervisory control of workers
and from their fears of shirking among workers
who telecommute.6
Where the impact of telecommuting has
been empirically evaluated, it seems to boost
productivity, decrease absenteeism, and increase

The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is

Participants to use in this research study will be grouped to help in collecting reliable information for better decision making. Research context Statistically, chronic diseases are common among old age people. The high rate of such infections among older adults is due to a low metabolic rate because to reduce physical activities among older adults. As well, chronic disease is also common among young adult who lives poor lifestyle choices like poor diet, overconsumption of alcohol and frequent smoking (Woolf, Aron, National Academies & Institute of Medicine, 2013) Purpose and impact of the research The purpose of this research is to study how differences in age group affect the rate of infection of chronic diseases among people living in the United States. In doing so, data will be collected from different age groups ranging from young adults to old adults. The main impact of this study is to identify the most affected age group with chronic diseases to find possible causes of action that should be then to reduce the chances of infections. For example, a high rate of infection among young people due

Aspects of the main focus The critical element to address in this study is to find possible ways of reducing infection of chronic diseases among the different age groups in the United States. To achieve the goal of the research study, a random sampling method will be done to collect data about how age group differences infection of chronic diseases. In doing so, relevant information will be collected from participants for analysis to answer the research question. Another essential step that should be done in this study is to identify the right participants that will help in collecting relevant information (Busse & Blümel, 2011). The main research focus The main focus of this research study is to address or answer the research question. It will pay more attention to how differences in age group contribute to many infections of chronic diseases. Based on past research studies, it evident that differences in age groups affect the risk of being chronic diseases. However, to confirm whether research results that have been discussed by others, it is essential to conduct this to find a possible solution that can help solve the research question (Busse & Blümel, 2011). Participants The key participants in this research study are adults of different age groups of people of 21 years old and above. The sampling process of participants should primarily base on unique observable factors as such risks issues. Purpose and impact of the study The fundamental goal of this research study is to establish the relationship between ages and infection of chronic diseases among residents of the United States. According to earlier studies, there is a direct relationship between age and the contamination of chronic illness among different groups of people. The effect of this study is that its attempt to establish and identify the link between ages and chronic diseases infection among different ages in the United States (Adefegha, 2018).
