On this special day, in the morning you go out
to buy all the preparations for the night,

4. Christmas in Colombia
On December 7 at night we celebrate the arrival of
the Immaculate Virgin Mary. People light candles in
the form of a road so that she can pass. Children
write a letter and put it under the Christmas tree.
Then, they make a manger and for
four days they pray to him.
On December 24 we cook a turkey stuffed with
sweet fruits and then give the gifts. Some children
disguise themselves as typical animals of a manger.

5. Santa Claus
He’s the person who carries the presents to your house. He will
come on the 24 of December to give you the presents, but the
condition is that you have to be sleeping because he is shy.

Fireworks in Peru are very typical at
Christmas. There are different types.
The ones that are usually used are the
most colourful. They burst fairly strong.
The most popular is called “Mom Rat”,
as it’s very strong and expensive.

On The 31st of December, at 23.55, we give 12 grapes
to everyone, and eat them at 00.00 of 1st of January. 1
stroke is 1 grape that you must eat to have good luck
that year.
