                                      A Word from Mr. Dumbell

             DATES
                                      You will now be aware Mrs. Lesley Lawson died last week after a long battle with
      Spring Term 2009
                                      cancer. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the many expressions of
Parents’ Evening: Tuesday 10th        sympathy and support at what is a very difficult time for all those connected with

Thursday 12th February                Many of you will know Lesley was as a much loved, respected and valued teacher at

The Shinewaves Competition
Mrs Bennet would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and let you know how                     Dinner Money
your child can enter this weeks competition.
Each Key Stage has a separate competition so there will be two winners.                             Ready Reckoner
  KS1 - How many words can your child make out of the phrase ‘Happy New Year’.
       KS2 - How many words can your make out of the words ‘Old Lang Syne’.                            1day = £1.55
                           They will also need to find out
   a) What this phrase means. b) Where it comes from. c) Where you might hear it.                    2 days = £3.10
      These are fun activities where you can help your child at home to enter the                    3 days = £4.65
                  competition to have the chance of winning a prize.
 Please ensure that the entry form is clearly marked with your child’s name and class                4 days = £6.20
    and is placed into the competition box which can be found outside the office.

                                                                                  Helpful Hints: Communication

                                                                     It is really important to check your child’s book bag
                                                                    each night after school. Newsletters are sent home on
                                                                        a weekly basis and we do send other letters and
                                                                      communication as well. Staff are concerned at the
                                                                    amount of what appears to be unread information left
                                                                                 in children’s bookbags each day!


                                                                                             Breakfast Club
                                                                    The Breakfast Club starts at 7.50 am. Children must be brought
                                                                     into the club by an adult and a member of staff must be made
                                                                                    are aware of each child’s arrival.
                                                                      Fees should be paid on the first day of the booked sessions.
                                                                    If your child is going to be absent, please ring tel: 211959 to let
                                                                         us know. Fees can only be carried forward to the next

Netball News
                                                          Both netball teams have enjoyed extra coaching sessions at

                                                          actually played for Norwood many years ago!) The teams are

                                                NORWOOD PTA
We are looking to organise an ice skating event which we hope will take place on Friday 13th March. If you would
be willing to help, please see Mr Dumbell as soon as possible. Remember the success of each event is dependent
                           on the amount of volunteers we have to help.
    You are always more than welcome to come along to any of the PTA meetings. The next
    meeting will take place on Wednesday 14th January at 7.30 pm prompt at Southport
           Football Club. We are always looking to share new ideas and see new faces!
