Neo-Confucianism During The Song Dynasty
Neo Confucianism refers to the diverse stands of Confucian thoughts and political civilization. During
the Song Dynasty, Neo Confucianism was one critical fragment in the political and social stability.
Neo Confucian was a part of the state s educational framework and the shared knowledge by a group
of Song moral elite. To some extent, the moral elite manipulate the political decisions. An example of a
scholarly official was Su Shi (Su Dongpo) who was a great writer of poetry and Neo Confucianist.
Because of his opposing views on several of the contentious political events, he became an enemy of
the state. He was frequently evicted from the capital. Su Shi witnessed the painful life of servants who
were under heavy pressure from taxes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was focused on the primary interpretation of Confucianism. I think Confucianist political ideals,
principles of governance, and bureaucratic personality theory are meaningful to improve the current
political system and the natural environment. So I came up with a question about how humanity Ren
as one of the most important Confucianism idea affects the political culture in the Spring and Autumn
Period. Then I started collect some quotes, events, contents of Confucian literatures from original
Confucians to make my previous project has more conservation and factual point of views. However,
In the Spring and Autumn Period, the rulers of countries rarely adopted Confucianism thoughts to
govern the country. They think that Confucianism can not achieve their lofty political ambitions. In
other words, I had collected materials on the lack of real cases of successful government with
Confucianism basis. Besides, the tools I have been using does not have much informations about
Confucianism in Spring and Autumn Period. Because I was using google search On the basis of
remaining Confucianism as my topic, I narrowed time into 900 to 1300 AD. Which was the time
period of Song Dynasty. The reason why I chose Song dynasty is because the social elites start came
up with some new ideas about Confucianism after combined with different ideas from Daoism and
Buddhism. Besides that the new Confucianism had a lot very good examples of how

John Stuart Mill Tyranny Of Majority
1. Introduction There are different and various groups who have their own interest and agenda. One of
the values that a democratic system tries to achieve is equal representation to all of the groups that it
embraces. However, people often fear whether a particular group will project more influence than
others. Due to the nature of democratic system where the decision is made according to the majority
rule, many critics argue the possibility of tyranny by majority where the group with the most number
of members rules in favor of its preference over the interests of other groups who are considered to be
minority with less members. Furthermore, people fear whether such majority favored interest will be
forced up on minority groups who do not agree with such view of the majority. Such takeover of
majority in politics is what we call tyranny of majority However, others believe that minority group
can also become a tyrant in a society, triumphing over the majority of a society. Contrary to the
widespread fear of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This again poses another need to set the boundary for enforcing majority opinion over other
individuals whose independence should also get respectable recognition. While this is a topic that is
neglected by many democratic systems, Mill laid out the central argument to his essay that interfering
individual liberty by others or society as a whole can only be allowed under self protection when the
individual in concern poses a threat to others. Other than such circumstance, he strongly believed in
the minimum level of enforcement of majority opinion on the minority, saying that Over himself, over
his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign. Which highlights the importance of one s
sovereignty over his or her body and

Gorbachev And The Soviet Union
This is a photo of Gorbachev giving a speech. Mikhail Gorbachev became Secretary General of the
Soviet Union in 1985, until he resigned in 1991. Gorbachev was much younger than the previous
leaders of the Soviet Union and had many ideas for reforms. After entering office, Gorbachev began to
implement a wide range of reforms. He sought to correct many problems in the Soviet Union,
including economic problems, the issues and history of harsh punishments against dissidents, and
unrest among the different groups that made up the Soviet Union. Gorbachev began to encourage a
culture of openness and honesty between the government and the Soviet people. This policy was
known as glasnost . Gorbachev also instituted a reform of restructuring the ... Show more content on

As the United States and the Soviet Union began to normalise their relationship, many people in the
Soviet republics began to feel that they no longer needed to be part of the Soviet Union for protection
against a military threat. President Richard Nixon and Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev began this
process of détente in an attempt to pull back from the threat of nuclear war and to begin increased
trade between the United States and the Soviet Union. Détente made people feel safer as it decreased
the threat of nuclear war and included formal agreements on arms control and the security of Europe.
However, détente contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union as some of the Soviet republics decided
that they no longer needed to be part of the Soviet Union for protection against a military threat.
Therefore, they gradually realised that if they did not need that protection, then they did not need the
Soviet Union at all. Consequently, détente planted the seeds for some of the Soviet republics to dream
of independence.

Ruger Scout Rifle Course Analysis
The assigned reading material for this week of the course is titled Ruger Scout Rifle , and is authored
by Chick Blood. It first appeared in print in the December 2015 issue of American Gunsmith
magazine. The article begins with a tip of the hat nod to John Dean Jeff Cooper (a Marine well
regarded for firearms methods, and proficiency). He is the forefather of the scout rifle from the sights,
stock, magazine, and a threaded barrel. The Ruger Scout rifle was developed from their Model 77
platform. This weapon is known for it s firing pin assembly being restricted. Once removed, it must
stay that way until reassembly. On these rifles, they are known to have an angled forward mounting
screw (along with a mounting lug). The reason for the

Alive Book Report Essay
Alive Book Report The book ALIVE, by Piers Paul Read identified many possible themes, although I
do think there are two that stand out. These two themes are survival and cooperation.
Survival plays a major throughout the entire story. The most gruesome part in the story occurred when
the remaining 28 passengers of the Fairchild were forced to cut up and eat there deceased friends and
family members so that they would be able to survive. This drastic action was long disputed. This
group of people went on for two weeks eating nothing but small portions of chocolate before they
thought about their alternative food source. Secondly, throughout the ten weeks the survivors were in
the Andes Mountains, which in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since there was no proper protection against such extreme temperatures, many of the passengers who
were already injured from the plane crash developed frostbitten limbs which eventually turned
gangrenous. The passengers of the Fairchild were stuck in a very horrible situation. I can interpret and
critique the end of this book, but first comes some background information. At first the last expedition
was supposed to consist of three people which were Roberto Canessa, Nando Parrado, and Antonio
Vizintin. All three boys were stocked with a 10 days ration of flesh. Unfortunately, on the third day of
the expedition Canessa and Parrado realized that the crusade for civilization was going to longer than
expected. So due to there position they were forced to send Vizintin back to the plane and take his
ration of food. The two boys walked the Andes for seven more days until they finally found a pasture
of cows. With a little more walking they found a Chilean peasant who contacted the proper authorities.
One day later the remaining 14 passengers still in the Fairchild were rescued. The Fairchild had
crashed on October 13, 1972 and the remaining passengers were rescued on December 20th of that
same year. The end of this book was described in such an excellent manner that it seems as if you
were right there with the survivors doing, seeing, and unfortunately eating what

The Modern Police Force Of The United States
Research: Police Officers
The modern police force not only provided an organized, centralized body of men legally authorized
to use force to maintain order, it also provided the illusion that this order was being maintained under
the rule of law, not at the whim of those with economic power, argues Dr. Gary Potter, author of The
History of Policing in the United States, Part 2 published in 2013.
Police Officers wanted to maintain peace, low crimes, and violence throughout their communities.
Most importantly, they wanted to uphold safer living environments. Potter (2013) defines social
control as crime control and was accomplished by raising the specter of the dangerous classes. It was
said, the idea that policing should be directed toward bad individuals, rather than social and economic
conditions that are criminogenic in their social outcomes. Although policing had always been a
reactive enterprise, occurring only in response to a specific criminal act. Its centralized and
bureaucratic police departments also focused on the alleged crime producing qualities of the
dangerous classes which began to emphasize preventative crime control.
Although, crime fighting has taken its toll, consequently, the role of the police has become more
important than ever before, and there would be chaos in the society without police, according to
Maulin Joshi (N.D.), author of What are the Functions of the Police? In the same sense, police are

Stan Musial (born 1920), one of baseball s greatest hitters, enjoyed an extraordinary career with the St.

Led by Musial s hot bat, the loose, inexperienced Cardinals surprised everyone by winning 106

Musial was disliked by Brooklyn Dodgers fans, who bestowed his nickname. Groaning when he came

Musial had an unorthodox batting stance. He crouched down to make the strike zone smaller, held his

A Research Study On Data Collection Method
Data Collection Method:
Because quantitative research is decided as the research strategy, data collection seems to be key
factor. Survey is the traditional way to collect the data (Vogt, 2010). In order to collect the quantitative
data, questionnaire is considered as one of the most effective ways to make the survey that is defined
as a set of questions, the main function of which is to collect the relevant data or information from
individuals (Mukherjee, 1995). Self completion questionnaire is a type of the questionnaire, which
offers a steady way for the respondents to answer the questions, as a result of which, the collected data
will usually be correct and it will provide the enough data support to test the hypothesis of the
research (Hill, Brierley MacDougall, 2003). Thus, the self completion type is determined as the major
type of the questionnaire, which will be utilized in this research project. Because Chinese consumers
behavior is required to be analyzed, the questionnaire will be put on the Internet platform and mainly
relies on Chinese Weibo and Wecat both of which are the famous online communication platforms in
China and can be seen as western Facebook . At the same time, it will be an easier and faster way to
get Chinese respondents answers from these two platforms that is one reason why questionnaire is
used and these platforms are depended. Another reason is that questionnaire can widen the numbers of
the respondents through utilizing of the

Alien Minors Act
The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act was introduced in 2001, with yet to be
completely passed into law, and was created in order to allow current, former, and future
undocumented high school graduates and GED recipients to pursue a three step pathway to gain U.S.
citizenship through work, college, or the armed services. The first step of this plan regards the
recipient s conditional permanent residence, meaning they have residential status for up to eight years.
Secondly, the recipient must soon be granted lawful permanent residence, or a green card. And lastly,
they can apply for citizenship after 5 years with their green card. To qualify for this, the child must

Regardless of their residential status, Dreamers are capable of being honor students, athletes,

are just as intelligent, and if we provide to them the same resource as those who are legal are given,
they could truly become a role model to many alike. On top of everything, it is already challenging for
a Dreamer to get a job thanks to their status as a citizen, without a higher education they may have an
insufficient chance of working a career or in a position of select field. Under the DREAM Act, these
children could work a job with a salary enough to take care of them and their families if need be.

The descendents of Noah had one unified language, with few words so as to be easily understood by
all. As one they went east, and finding a land which they called Shinar, they settled in the land and

The garden he creates, Eden, is made specifically for Adam with the tree of life as well as the Tree of
the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God tells Adam that he may eat of any tree in the garden apart from
the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This gives Adam a choice to continue being in union
with God, or to oust himself from God s presence by disobeying God and eating the fruit. God then
makes Eve to be a companion of man, named by Adam, therefore imposing his dominion over her.
When Eve gives Adam the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, he is accepting the
removal of the garden, not deliberately but because of his inability to resist the temptation. The return
to chaos follows the expulsion from the garden; for you out of it [dust] you were taken; and to dust
you shall return. Immediately following the expulsion, Cain kills his brother Abel, and division of the

Environmental Responsibility Of A Nuclear Plant
This paper compares the three most common types of environmental responsibility that most
businesses will follow due to law, business ethics, or their own need. The articles differ due to the type
of business, and also which responsibility they either chose or are forced to follow. The first article
addresses how the laws can force the fishing industry to follow the limits it imposes in the marine
reserves found across the world. The second article addresses how ensuring future production can
force a company to address the responsibility of finding a different type of product to use in order for

unusual due to their over hunting and fishing. The reserve also contains some coral reef, which is why
it is very important and needs to be protected. The reserve is now a no take zone, which means there is
absolutely no fishing at all. I found this article interesting because the idea of protecting the coral reefs

Thus, the analysis should be performed on the basis of religious, political, economic and social
conditions of Pre Islamic Arabia rather than geographical description of the region. Nevertheless, the
desert location of the land played not the last role in the formation of its radically different social
dynamics as compared to Egypt, Iran and other territories. First of all, Pre Islamic society had no
political organization, including the absence of government. The matter is that Arabs accepted moral
authority of their tribe s chief, while any governmental leaders were not acknowledged. The absence
of government meant that Arabs had no order and law, whereas the behavior of individuals was
regulated by victim s decision to bring the offender to justice, which led to lawlessness and cruelty
(Berkey 40; Razwy n.pag.). The researcher Rodinson in his work states that the free Arabs were bound
by no written code of law, and no state existed to enforce its statutes with the backing of a police force
(Rodinson 190.). The factors that interrupted the Arabs from constant violence included the fear of
vendetta and reprisals. Rodinson adds: The only protection for a man s life was the certainty
established by custom, that it would be dearly bought. Blood for blood and a life for a life. The

Nick Sousanis Second Chapter Unflattening
The well known cliché goes a picture says a thousand words and this is an idea that Nick Sousanis
explores in his book Unflattening . The saying implies that images are able to speak volumes, more
than words could ever express. Images convey different messages to people and in doing so evoke
thoughts and emotions that words often cannot. Individuals interpret images based on their own ideas
and experiences, therefore an image can be seen in many different perspectives creating diverse
meanings from one single image. Since there are so many different perspectives it is easy to see how
Sousanis images can convey several different concepts.

It is easy to see how the image can convey many different concepts based on perception of
individuals. When looking at the image it is typical for the eye to be drawn to the bottom right corner
because of the dark sketch lines. While reading through the limited amount of text provided it guides
the reader into the concept is wants to convey. However, by the use of images one can get many
different thoughts and ideas without the restriction of words. The language used on this page discusses
the QUEST FOR REASON , THE FEAR OF THE UNKOWN , and DEPTHS OF LIGHT , and these
ideas can all be seen solely through the image. The light is in the center of the page and from my
perspective this can be seen as the earth being the center of universe. The lightness and darkness in the
opposite corners of the pages can be seen as heaven and hell. The light line hatching in the top corner
can be perceived as heaven because heaven is often seen as being above and correlated with lightness
and white. Looking at the opposite corner of the image, there is dark shading that can be seen as a
representation of hell. Hell has always been associated with darkness and as being below. This is just
one interpretation of this image, while I see the message of heaven and hell being conveyed from this
picture other people may see another concept. In

The Iniquities of the Father:
A Look at the Faulknerian Family.
Faulkner has been hailed as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century, especially for his
depictions of life in the Deep South. Many of his stories take place in fictional Yoknapatawpha
County, Mississippi. In the Sound and the Fury and As I Lay Dying, he focuses on two very different
families in this county, and explores how the iniquity of the fathers is revisited upon the children
(Holy Bible: KJV Deut. 5.9). In both novels, through the use of stream of consciousness and various
other modernist writing techniques, Faulkner looks at two deeply troubled families with weak parents

His grand father, J.W.T. Falkner, inherited a railroad company, but instead of passing it on to his son
whose first and lasting love was the railroad, he sold it for $75,000 (Minter 6 7). Young Faulkner and
his family moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where his father, Murry, a cold man whose capacity for
affection was limited, grew more and more bitter, drank whisky, and remained distant and cautious

Homeland Security Vs Homeland Security
Much has been discussed about homeland security and homeland defense regarding their differences
and similarities, but regardless of how the two are related, the fact remains that they both serve the
purpose of protecting and defending America, making our citizens safe, and to protect the integrity of
our infrastructure, rendering our nation a safe place to live and build family traditions. The ultimate
purpose of both Homeland Defense and Homeland Security is to protect, defend, and assist with the
safety and security of the citizens of the United States. One purpose specifically caters to the
protection of our citizens in land and the other focuses on the protection of citizens from overseas.
Homeland Defense operates within the United States and outside the United States to provide critical
protection to the country against terrorism. Homeland defense is the task the military is handed
outside of the United States. For the purpose of defending and protecting our nation, the reason why
military personnel are sent all over the world to fight radical extremists who pose a threat to our

Homeland defense represents the protection of our territory, population, and critical infrastructure by
deterring and defending against foreign and domestic threats, supporting civil authorities for crisis and
consequence management, and helping to ensure the continuance of critical national assets
(Department of the Army 1999, 1). (Noftsinger, 2007)
The Department of Defense main objective is to provide the military forces necessary to protect the
security of our country. To protect our natural resources, installations, and facilities by discouraging
and preventing acts of terror against the American public. To support the overall mission by fighting
radical extremist who plan and carry out attacks on American soil claiming the lives of innocent

Hospice Nurse Role
Hospice is a concept of care that is based on the belief that meaningful living is achievable during a
terminal illness that is free of interventions that prolong physiologic dying. The role of a hospice nurse
is to take on a holistic approach to patient care that involves a careful evaluation of not only physical
problems but also the psychosocial and spiritual dimensions of the patient and the patient s family
(Hinkle Cheever, 2014). The hospice nurse is culturally aware and sensitive in their approach to
communication that respects beliefs, attitudes, and values of the patient and family about end of life
care. The hospice nurse also provides support to families even after the death of the patient (Nies
McEwen, 2015).
The hospice nurse also educates family members about the physical symptoms of terminal illness such
as dyspnea, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Keith practiced hospice nursing for over 10 years. Mrs. Keith became a hospice nurse because
her mother was dying and choosing to put her on hospice was the best decision she has ever made.
Although retired, Mrs. Keith still volunteers time to time to sit with patients. Mrs. Keith stated,
You walk with families, with all the issues families may have; you walk with them, through their fears
and anger, through love, laughter, and tears. You see great healing and forgiveness at times. A healing
that traditional medicine may not understand. But it is the healing a medicine cannot touch. It is the
healing of love and compassion and presence. It is our presence, love, and compassion, as patients and
families journey, step by step, closer and closer to saying goodbye to each other. (personal
communication, April 26, 2018)
I was blown away by her compassion for hospice nursing. I believe it takes a special person to be a
hospice nurse. Although nurses outside of hospice deal with patients dying or having a life limiting
illness; it is not every encounter with a

Scarecrow In The Wizard Of Oz
In the movie The Wizard of Oz, the scarecrow already had a brain, but he didn t know it yet. First off,
the scarecrow could talk, and to be able to talk, you have to have a brain. For example, the first time
the scarecrow appeared in the story he talked. He was still hanging in the corn field on his stick, and
he told Dorothy which way to go. She did not know who was talking because she could see no one.
This alone is a big reason. It is physically impossible for someone to talk without a brain because the
brain is what sends out the signals to tell your body to talk. Next, the scarecrow could skip and walk,
which is also impossible without a brain. In one particular scene from the movie, Dorothy, the Tin
Man, the Scarecrow, and the cowardly

Essay On Abnormality, Classification Systems And...
Definition of abnormality, classification systems and demographics of psychological disorders
The poster is going to outline the definition of abnormality and describe two diagnostic classification
systems whilst referencing the diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia and an overlook of its subtype
catatonic schizophrenia.
An analysis of the validity, reliability, practicalities and ethical issues will be covered when referring
to the diagnostic classification systems and lastly the demographics and statistics surrounding
schizophrenia with reference to age, gender and ethnicity will be thoroughly examined
Statistical Infrequency
By using the statistical infrequency definition, a person s way of thinking or behaviour is classified as
abnormal if it is statistically unusual amongst a selected society. With this definition it is very
important to decide how statistically rare a behaviour or trait is before it is classified as abnormal. For
example a person who has a higher IQ level than the society s average is then classified as abnormal
but contrary to this a person would be highly regarded for their intelligence, this is due to the method
failing to identify the appeal of that certain trait (Cardwell, Clark and Meldrum, 2008).
As mentioned the definition ignores desirability of some behaviours and traits, it also does not take in
to account of cultural differences and it is not clear by how much a behaviour should deviate from
what s normal for it to be considered abnormal

Comparing My Challenges To Female Friendship Narrative And...
In the narrative, I describe factors that posed challenge to my friendship with Sarah and identify
cultural differences as the most challenging element of our friendship. The family structure within
Sarah s culture (Indian) is very different then mine, which made it difficult for me to understand and
appreciate the customs. What especially concerned me was the control Sarah s parents exhibited over
her education. Eventually, I expressed to Sarah how I felt and she enlightened me about her family and
culture in a very positive perspective. This experience was initially upsetting, however through several
passionate conversations we are now closer together as friends. There are several connections between
my Challenges to Female Friendship Narrative and the material we studied throughout the course,

Hooks (2000) discusses a college experience where she notices a difference in the way males and
females conduct each other in her classes. She observed that women did not talk as much as the men
nor were they called upon as often as men were (especially in mixed gender classes). This negatively
influenced Hooks (2000) because her prior expectations expected that in schools, males and females
were treated equally. This experience weakened the confidence she had in her academic capabilities
but eventually she was able to accept and cope with the customs of her new school. Comparably, in
my narrative I discuss the false expectations that I had towards parenting and the difficulty I
experienced accepting the customs of my friend s parents. For example, in Sarah s cultural
background, the parents decide their children s academic careers. Like Hooks (2000), I felt very
saddened because my expectations about parenting

Modern Day Iran Juxtaposes
It was a bright and sunny day in the streets of Tehran, where my father would walk along side by side
with the love of his life. He was dressed like any gentleman in the blistering summer s heat would, but
the real sight to him was his girlfriend. She was wearing a bright colored dress and her hair was
swaying with the cool wind. They felt vigorous and young to be able to show their affection so freely.
Despite that, times have changed in Iran and to practice that type of freedom would result in brutal
consequences from the government. At first glance, one would say modern day Iran juxtaposes the
United States. However, that was not always the case. According to my informant, my father, Iran was

From Light Comes Darkness, And From Darkness Essay
Quote 1
From Light comes Darkness, and from Darkness.. Light.
Warcraft
A. In this quote, it tells us that positive and negative go hand in hand. It tells us that whether there is
too much of something and less of the other or less of something and too much of the other, both will
correlate with each other. As life is a spiral of ups and downs, whether it may be good or bad, happy or
sad, opposites will balance each other, for it is the essence of life.
B. Whenever good things surround me, bad things always come around. The most memorable one was
the time when my brother and I graduated college together (my first course before I ladderized it).
Everyone was happy and everything was going well for the family, then a month after the graduation,
the tides quickly turned around and my mother s sickness got worse, she got admitted to the ICU in a
hospital for a month and a half, everything quickly turned around so fast, financial shortcomings came
and everyone was in a state of panic, shock and fear. Then came the month of June, my mother got
well for a few weeks, sense of relief was felt by everyone. I finally got to continue my education
together with my friends, I thought that everything was turning back to normal then while I was at
school fixing my class schedule, my father called me and.. You already know what happened. It left
the whole family feel miserable, mostly my father and our eldest brother who was working abroad. I

Steps to Preparation for Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
Pre Steps for preparing for FMEA.
Step 1: Select a process to evaluate with FMEA.
This is where a process to be evaluated with FMEA is carefully selected. When selecting a process,
special attention should be paid to the complexity of the process selected. A process that is not so large
and complex is preferred to a large and complex process. For example, select prevention of pressure
sore instead of pressure sore as a process to evaluate with FMEA. This is because evaluating pressure
will involve causes, prevention, treatment and risks factors.
Step 2: Recruit a multidisciplinary team.
The team should include everyone that is involved in the process. All team members do not
necessarily have to follow the process through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Failure mode is anything that could possibly go wrong, whether minor, major, and rare problems.
After identifying failure modes, the team will also identify possible causes for each failure mode
listed.
Step 5: For each failure mode, have the team assign a numeric value for likelihood of each occurrence,
likelihood of detection, and severity.
In this step, the team assigns numeric value known as the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The purpose
of assigning RPN is to help the team identify areas that are most likely to have problem so that special
attention could be given to such areas and improvement made proactively.
After successfully going through the 5th step, the team will carry out the 3 steps of FMEA which are
the likelihood of occurrence, likelihood of detection, severity, and assign score as appropriate. 3.
Occurrence: This is when the team consensually answered the question of, how likely is it that this
failure will occur? The ability to answer this question will help the team to determine what score to
assign to the step in question. The score will determine the level of priority to be given to that
particular step. Score is assigned between one and 10. One means very unlikely to occur while 10
mean very likely to occur
Detection: The team seeks to answer the question of If this failure mode occurs, how likely is it that it
will be detected is? The team has to determine if

According to Moorhouse v Dooland, all the earnings from personal exertion may be considered as
ordinary income. If there is enough connection between the individual service and the receipt then it
will be regarded as ordinary income. If the payment is not assessable as ordinary income but it can be
assessable under section 15 2 of Income Tax Assessment Act 1997, as statutory income. The important
factor here is to identify whether the person has given up some valuable rights.
Application:
a) $100000 annual salary:
It is clear from the facts that $100000 is her salary, so it is assessable as ordinary income. It is a
service from personal exertion. This amount is annual so it is regular and periodic. There is a sufficient
nexus or flow between the receipt and her personal service. Hence, it is evident that $100000 is
ordinary income because it satisfies the characteristics of section 6 5 of Income Tax Assessment Act
1997. It can be further explained in relation to Arthur Murray (NSW) Pty Ltd v FCT (1965) , which
shows that the income is only assessable when it is derived and earned.
b) $400000 lump sum payment:
In the case of $400,000 lump sum amount, if there is satisfactory connection between the receipt and
her personal service then this amount will be considered as ordinary income. However, under section
15 2 of Income Tax Assessment Act 1997, it may be considered as statutory income if there is any

Death Of A Salesman Lying
In the Death of a Salesman, all of the main characters lie for all distinctive kinds of reasons. With this
in mind, Willy Loman appears to be the first character that lies at the beginning of the scene and
persists to lie throughout the play. In reality, Willy frequently lies in exaggeration to cause himself to
appear and sound more likable and successful than he legitimately is. For an example, Willy
continually mentions that most people adore and needs him. In order to truly believe why Willy was
lying, realize that he sincerely believes, and makes up stories, that consists of people needing to be
dependent on him and treats him as a celebrity. In reality, this does not occur to Willy for the purpose
that no one genuinely knows about him

Sandra Cisneros
Sandra Cisneros, an author who is deeply inspired by her Mexican American heritage. This inspiration
is clearly shown throughout every one of her writing pieces such as Salvador Late or Early and Eleven
. Both short stories focus on adolescents with a mature mindset and adult precision, and each story
does a marvelous job portraying Cisneros constant writing style. Salvador Late or Early is focusing on
a young boy, Salvador, with heavy burdens to carry on his shoulders, which is unfortunate because he
is such a young boy with an old soul. The responsibilities he has are unimaginable due to the fact they
don t pertain to his age. The short story Eleven is about an eleven year old girl named Rachel, a
forthright character who explains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story. For example,
Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a metaphor suggesting
metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck inside its cocoon, he will soon become a
beautiful, graceful butterfly. This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning
because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and
if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in the end, they will
always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another example of figurative
language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of
crayons, has let go the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that
tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... This symbolizes a rainbow after a storm, and
the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that although Salvador is caught in the middle of a brutal
storm, the sun will soon come out and he will find a rainbow. One example of figurative language in
Eleven is when Rachel uses similes such as Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or
like the rings inside a tree trunk or like my little

  • 2. Neo-Confucianism During The Song Dynasty Neo Confucianism refers to the diverse stands of Confucian thoughts and political civilization. During the Song Dynasty, Neo Confucianism was one critical fragment in the political and social stability. Neo Confucian was a part of the state s educational framework and the shared knowledge by a group of Song moral elite. To some extent, the moral elite manipulate the political decisions. An example of a scholarly official was Su Shi (Su Dongpo) who was a great writer of poetry and Neo Confucianist. Because of his opposing views on several of the contentious political events, he became an enemy of the state. He was frequently evicted from the capital. Su Shi witnessed the painful life of servants who were under heavy pressure from taxes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was focused on the primary interpretation of Confucianism. I think Confucianist political ideals, principles of governance, and bureaucratic personality theory are meaningful to improve the current political system and the natural environment. So I came up with a question about how humanity Ren as one of the most important Confucianism idea affects the political culture in the Spring and Autumn Period. Then I started collect some quotes, events, contents of Confucian literatures from original Confucians to make my previous project has more conservation and factual point of views. However, In the Spring and Autumn Period, the rulers of countries rarely adopted Confucianism thoughts to govern the country. They think that Confucianism can not achieve their lofty political ambitions. In other words, I had collected materials on the lack of real cases of successful government with Confucianism basis. Besides, the tools I have been using does not have much informations about Confucianism in Spring and Autumn Period. Because I was using google search On the basis of remaining Confucianism as my topic, I narrowed time into 900 to 1300 AD. Which was the time period of Song Dynasty. The reason why I chose Song dynasty is because the social elites start came up with some new ideas about Confucianism after combined with different ideas from Daoism and Buddhism. Besides that the new Confucianism had a lot very good examples of how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John Stuart Mill Tyranny Of Majority 1. Introduction There are different and various groups who have their own interest and agenda. One of the values that a democratic system tries to achieve is equal representation to all of the groups that it embraces. However, people often fear whether a particular group will project more influence than others. Due to the nature of democratic system where the decision is made according to the majority rule, many critics argue the possibility of tyranny by majority where the group with the most number of members rules in favor of its preference over the interests of other groups who are considered to be minority with less members. Furthermore, people fear whether such majority favored interest will be forced up on minority groups who do not agree with such view of the majority. Such takeover of majority in politics is what we call tyranny of majority However, others believe that minority group can also become a tyrant in a society, triumphing over the majority of a society. Contrary to the widespread fear of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This again poses another need to set the boundary for enforcing majority opinion over other individuals whose independence should also get respectable recognition. While this is a topic that is neglected by many democratic systems, Mill laid out the central argument to his essay that interfering individual liberty by others or society as a whole can only be allowed under self protection when the individual in concern poses a threat to others. Other than such circumstance, he strongly believed in the minimum level of enforcement of majority opinion on the minority, saying that Over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign. Which highlights the importance of one s sovereignty over his or her body and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gorbachev And The Soviet Union This is a photo of Gorbachev giving a speech. Mikhail Gorbachev became Secretary General of the Soviet Union in 1985, until he resigned in 1991. Gorbachev was much younger than the previous leaders of the Soviet Union and had many ideas for reforms. After entering office, Gorbachev began to implement a wide range of reforms. He sought to correct many problems in the Soviet Union, including economic problems, the issues and history of harsh punishments against dissidents, and unrest among the different groups that made up the Soviet Union. Gorbachev began to encourage a culture of openness and honesty between the government and the Soviet people. This policy was known as glasnost . Gorbachev also instituted a reform of restructuring the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the United States and the Soviet Union began to normalise their relationship, many people in the Soviet republics began to feel that they no longer needed to be part of the Soviet Union for protection against a military threat. President Richard Nixon and Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev began this process of détente in an attempt to pull back from the threat of nuclear war and to begin increased trade between the United States and the Soviet Union. Détente made people feel safer as it decreased the threat of nuclear war and included formal agreements on arms control and the security of Europe. However, détente contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union as some of the Soviet republics decided that they no longer needed to be part of the Soviet Union for protection against a military threat. Therefore, they gradually realised that if they did not need that protection, then they did not need the Soviet Union at all. Consequently, détente planted the seeds for some of the Soviet republics to dream of independence. This photograph is the mark of the Polish Trade Union, Solidarity. The symbol of the Solidarity movement became renown throughout the world. In 1980, the Solidarity movement began in Poland and set the stage for a weakening of Soviet Communist power. • 5. Ruger Scout Rifle Course Analysis The assigned reading material for this week of the course is titled Ruger Scout Rifle , and is authored by Chick Blood. It first appeared in print in the December 2015 issue of American Gunsmith magazine. The article begins with a tip of the hat nod to John Dean Jeff Cooper (a Marine well regarded for firearms methods, and proficiency). He is the forefather of the scout rifle from the sights, stock, magazine, and a threaded barrel. The Ruger Scout rifle was developed from their Model 77 platform. This weapon is known for it s firing pin assembly being restricted. Once removed, it must stay that way until reassembly. On these rifles, they are known to have an angled forward mounting screw (along with a mounting lug). The reason for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Alive Book Report Essay Alive Book Report The book ALIVE, by Piers Paul Read identified many possible themes, although I do think there are two that stand out. These two themes are survival and cooperation. Survival plays a major throughout the entire story. The most gruesome part in the story occurred when the remaining 28 passengers of the Fairchild were forced to cut up and eat there deceased friends and family members so that they would be able to survive. This drastic action was long disputed. This group of people went on for two weeks eating nothing but small portions of chocolate before they thought about their alternative food source. Secondly, throughout the ten weeks the survivors were in the Andes Mountains, which in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since there was no proper protection against such extreme temperatures, many of the passengers who were already injured from the plane crash developed frostbitten limbs which eventually turned gangrenous. The passengers of the Fairchild were stuck in a very horrible situation. I can interpret and critique the end of this book, but first comes some background information. At first the last expedition was supposed to consist of three people which were Roberto Canessa, Nando Parrado, and Antonio Vizintin. All three boys were stocked with a 10 days ration of flesh. Unfortunately, on the third day of the expedition Canessa and Parrado realized that the crusade for civilization was going to longer than expected. So due to there position they were forced to send Vizintin back to the plane and take his ration of food. The two boys walked the Andes for seven more days until they finally found a pasture of cows. With a little more walking they found a Chilean peasant who contacted the proper authorities. One day later the remaining 14 passengers still in the Fairchild were rescued. The Fairchild had crashed on October 13, 1972 and the remaining passengers were rescued on December 20th of that same year. The end of this book was described in such an excellent manner that it seems as if you were right there with the survivors doing, seeing, and unfortunately eating what ... • 7. The Modern Police Force Of The United States Research: Police Officers The modern police force not only provided an organized, centralized body of men legally authorized to use force to maintain order, it also provided the illusion that this order was being maintained under the rule of law, not at the whim of those with economic power, argues Dr. Gary Potter, author of The History of Policing in the United States, Part 2 published in 2013. Police Officers wanted to maintain peace, low crimes, and violence throughout their communities. Most importantly, they wanted to uphold safer living environments. Potter (2013) defines social control as crime control and was accomplished by raising the specter of the dangerous classes. It was said, the idea that policing should be directed toward bad individuals, rather than social and economic conditions that are criminogenic in their social outcomes. Although policing had always been a reactive enterprise, occurring only in response to a specific criminal act. Its centralized and bureaucratic police departments also focused on the alleged crime producing qualities of the dangerous classes which began to emphasize preventative crime control. Although, crime fighting has taken its toll, consequently, the role of the police has become more important than ever before, and there would be chaos in the society without police, according to Maulin Joshi (N.D.), author of What are the Functions of the Police? In the same sense, police are primarily responsible for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Stan Musial Essay Name: Stan Musial Bith Date: December 21, 1920 Death Date: Place of Birth: Donora, Pennsylvania, United States of America Nationality: American Gender: Male Occupations: baseball player Stan Musial Stan Musial (born 1920), one of baseball s greatest hitters, enjoyed an extraordinary career with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1941 through 1963. Called Stan the Man because of his intimidating presence at the plate, Musial won seven batting championships and three Most Valuable Player awards. Accommodating to fans and the media both during and after his playing career, Musial was considered one of the game s most gentlemanly and down to earth ambassadors. I never had the courage to try my harmonica outside my hotel room, but I could make my share of noise with that slide whistle and coat hanger. I always thought it helped to laugh it up before a game, not to become too tense. Led by Musial s hot bat, the loose, inexperienced Cardinals surprised everyone by winning 106 games, including 43 of their last 52, to claim the National League pennant. Then St. Louis beat the favored Yankees in the World Series, and Musial was on a world championship team in his first full season. Musial was disliked by Brooklyn Dodgers fans, who bestowed his nickname. Groaning when he came up to bat in key situations, they would yell: Oh no. Here comes that Man again. First of all, Pre Islamic society had no political organization, including the absence of government. The matter is that Arabs accepted moral authority of their tribe s chief, while any governmental leaders were not acknowledged. The absence of government meant that Arabs had no order and law, whereas the behavior of individuals was regulated by victim s decision to bring the offender to justice, which led to lawlessness and cruelty (Berkey 40; Razwy n.pag.). A process that is not so large and complex is preferred to a large and complex process. For example, select prevention of pressure sore instead of pressure sore as a process to evaluate with FMEA. This is because evaluating pressure will involve causes, prevention, treatment and risks factors. Step 2: Recruit a multidisciplinary team. Failure mode is anything that could possibly go wrong, whether minor, major, and rare problems. After identifying failure modes, the team will also identify possible causes for each failure mode listed. Step 5: For each failure mode, have the team assign a numeric value for likelihood of each occurrence, likelihood of detection, and severity. In this step, the team assigns numeric value known as the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The purpose of assigning RPN is to help the team identify areas that are most likely to have problem so that special attention could be given to such areas and improvement made proactively. After successfully going through the 5th step, the team will carry out the 3 steps of FMEA which are the likelihood of occurrence, likelihood of detection, severity, and assign score as appropriate. 3. Score is assigned between one and 10. One means very unlikely to occur while 10 mean very likely to occur Detection: The team seeks to answer the question of If this failure mode occurs, how likely is it that it will be detected is? According to Moorhouse v Dooland, all the earnings from personal exertion may be considered as ordinary income. If there is enough connection between the individual service and the receipt then it will be regarded as ordinary income. If the payment is not assessable as ordinary income but it can be assessable under section 15 2 of Income Tax Assessment Act 1997, as statutory income. The important factor here is to identify whether the person has given up some valuable rights. Application: a) $100000 annual salary: It is clear from the facts that $100000 is her salary, so it is assessable as ordinary income. It is a service from personal exertion. • 35. Sandra Cisneros Sandra Cisneros, an author who is deeply inspired by her Mexican American heritage. This inspiration is clearly shown throughout every one of her writing pieces such as Salvador Late or Early and Eleven . Both short stories focus on adolescents with a mature mindset and adult precision, and each story does a marvelous job portraying Cisneros constant writing style. Salvador Late or Early is focusing on a young boy, Salvador, with heavy burdens to carry on his shoulders, which is unfortunate because he is such a young boy with an old soul. The responsibilities he has are unimaginable due to the fact they don t pertain to his age. The short story Eleven is about an eleven year old girl named Rachel, a forthright character who explains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story. For example, Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a metaphor suggesting metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck inside its cocoon, he will soon become a beautiful, graceful butterfly. This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in the end, they will always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another example of figurative language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of crayons, has let go the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... This symbolizes a rainbow after a storm, and the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that although Salvador is caught in the middle of a brutal storm, the sun will soon come out and he will find a rainbow. One example of figurative language in Eleven is when Rachel uses similes such as Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or like the rings inside a tree trunk or like my little ...
