¿Alguna vez te has detenido a pensar como piensas?

Exodus 15-16, God's Lovingkindness, Redeemed, gentiles knew and trembled, without excuse, purchased, marsh with dry land, Egypt's medicine, grumbling at God’s leaders, glory of the LORD, quails, manna, Sabbath
How blessed are those in Christ who have their sins covered by His blood! Even David in Psalm 32 declares the blessing of covered sins. Just as the death angel passed over the Hebrews in Egypt because they were "covered by the blood on the mantle", we escape the wrath of God because the blood covers us!
In times of peril, what do you do? Today's lesson shows Jehoshaphat's reaction to an impending threat to the children of Israel. Their response was to stand before the Lord.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
2. Exodus 20:1-3 NIV And God spoke all these words: "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. "You shall have no other gods before me.
3. The Preamble Exodus 20:2 NIV I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
5. God Deserves First Place Because Exodus 3:14 NIV God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
10. Gods that Vie for our Affections 1 John 2:16 NIV For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world.
11. Gods that Vie for our Affections 1 John 2:16 NIV For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. Exodus 34:14 NIV Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
15. Psalms 106:6-22 NIV We have sinned, even as our fathers did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly. When our fathers were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known.
16. Psalms 106:6-22 NIV He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert. He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them. The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived. Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.
17. Psalms 106:6-22 NIV But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his counsel. In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wasteland they put God to the test. So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease upon them. In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD.
18. Psalms 106:6-22 NIV The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram. Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked. At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped an idol cast from metal. They exchanged their Glory for an image of a bull, which eats grass.
19. Psalms 106:6-22 NIV They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
21. You may know the commands, but do you know the Commander?
Editor's Notes
The 10 Commandments were not given flippantlyExodus 19 shows a pattern designed to produce awe and respectIt is a sin to receive them lightlyFor the rest of this series we should show reverent, respectful attention. This is God’s law.
(3) "No tendrás otros dioses delante de Mí.God declares that he will accept no place but first place.Without the absolute sovereignty of God, there is no basis for the commands to follow. If he has no right to command, then we have no duty to obey. The first command is not only first in order; it is primary to all the others. We've got to learn to put first things first. Like a child learns first to crawl, and then to stand, walk and run.
In the preamble, God gives three reasons he deserves first place.
There are several biblical words for God.Most revolve around the Heb. el - the general word for any deity - like "god".Here, the word is the personal name of God - Heb. YHWH - always represented in English Bibles by "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" or "LORD" (not "Lord").
Exodus 3:14 NBLH Y dijo Dios a Moisés: "YO SOY EL QUE SOY," y añadió: "Así dirás a los Israelitas: 'YO SOY me ha enviado a ustedes.'"YHWH - the name by which God identified himself to Moses When Moses asked, "What's your name?" God answered, "I am because I am; I will be because I will be"YHWH emphasizes the eternal changelessness of God's characterThe eternal validity of God's moral law is rooted in his changelessness. What he expects in terms of morality, values and ethics has never changed. How can a changeless God take second place to anything or anyone who is here today and gone tomorrow?
2. “I am … your God”"Your" is singular. In other words, he is the God of the individual - e.g. of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, et al.If his eternality gives him the right to command, his proximity gives me the will to obey.Suppose a stranger could prove he was your father. He might demand obedience, but you wouldn't deliver it. It was the availability of the man you call "Dad" that you respect.God claims to be your personal God - he lays claim on your affection.
3. "Who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery".He brought Israel out by plagues that attacked the gods of Egypt. They worshipped the Nile - it ran with blood. They worshipped Bull gods - their cattle died. They worshipped Pharaoh - God took his son.Like Egypt, Canaan was filled with gods. God wants exclusive devotion. It is as if he is saying: "Before you enter, I want you to know that I demand first place."
He is God.He is your personal Father. He rescued you from bondage to sin and death. Therefore, he insists on first place.
Exodus 20:3 NBLH "No tendrás otros dioses delante de Mí.Does God mean there are other gods? He is not commenting on the validity of other deities, but on the reality that every man worships something.Your god is whatever you trust. It doesn't have to have an altar or temple, just your trust. We're no different from the ancients. They worshipped Bacchus, the god of appetite; we worship our bellies. They worshipped Mars, the god of war; we glory in military strength. They worshipped Diana, the goddess of sex; we're constantly falling before the shrine of sex.
Three deities lay claim on your allegiance.Lust of flesh - passion and pleasure.Lust of eyes - possessions and prosperity.Pride of life - power and position.Indices to your gods:Your daydreams - David said, "I meditate on God".Your checkbook - "Where your treasure is, there your heart is"Like the ancients, along with the worship of our gods, we sprinkle a little worship of YHWH.Note: NIV fn: "No other gods besides me". God demands exclusive worship.
Israel made a calf. God responded:God's jealousy is not a character flaw, but a reflection of his excellence. He demands exclusive devotion. As a husband demands first place in his wife's heart. It is no consolation if his wife is unfaithful with only one other man. The covenant is for only one.The difference between 1 & 2 is greater than the difference between 2 & 2000. All other numbers are plural. There is only one number that is unique in its singularity - #1.Thrones come in all shapes and sizes. They all have one thing in common - they are designed to seat only one. God demands the throne, but he won't sit there until the imposters are banished.
1. Rethink carefully the end of all other affections. What do you trust? Money? Titles? Health? Do they really last?It is foolish to worship any god but the one who can call himself: "I was, am & will be".
2. Recall specifically the deeds of the Almighty on our behalf.Like Israel, we tend to forget what God has done for us. No sooner did God do for them than they forgot.
We need to master our memory so it will remember our Maker.Daily, recall the things that have happened to you that you attribute to God.
3. Relate personally to YHWH as your God.He is already ruler of the universe. He is not asking for that.He is asking for you to make him your personal God.
Many know the commands, but not the Commander.Knowing the law without knowing the Lawgiver is the way to become a legalist. The problem with a legalist is that he has the rules down cold, but he has no relationship with the God who laid down the rules.Put first things first. First, get to know God.How can he be first if he's the last one we talk to, or think about, or if his word is the last thing we read?Talk to him now. Prayer. Lord, help us understand the implications of the words "No other gods". Wish we could obey as quickly as we can memorize. Help us root out all challengers and put you first, because you deserve to be first and will have no other place. In every heart there is one throne. It is big enough for only one god. One God is big enough for you. Put him first now.
