God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and called him to deliver the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. Moses objected that he was not qualified, but God assured him that He would be with Moses and promised a sign to confirm that God had sent him. When Moses asked God for His name to tell the Israelites, God replied "I AM WHO I AM", and said His name was "Yahweh". God further explained that He was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and told Moses this was the name by which all generations would invoke Him.
