This document discusses the challenges of Arabic typography and typesetting systems. It summarizes that Arabic script requires complex contextual analysis and processing algorithms due to its cursive nature and strict rules. Current tools still lack the full ability to accommodate Arabic script characteristics. The document then reviews the evolution of Arabic typesetting from movable type cases to modern smart font technologies. It identifies ongoing challenges in developing high quality Arabic typography, such as better justification and diacritical mark positioning algorithms.
A Novel Approach for Bilingual (English - Oriya) Script Identification and Re...CSCJournals
In most of our official papers, school text books, it is observed that English words interspersed within the Indian languages. So there is need for an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system which can recognize these bilingual documents and store it for future use. In this paper we present an OCR system developed for the recognition of Indian language i.e. Oriya and Roman scripts for printed documents. For such purpose, it is necessary to separate different scripts before feeding them to their individual OCR system. Firstly, we need to correct the skew followed by segmentation. Here we propose the script differentiation line-wise. We emphasize on Upper and lower matras associated with Oriya and absent in English. We have used horizontal histogram for line distinction belonging to different script. After separation different scripts are sent to their individual recognition engines.
The using of the internet with its technologies and applications have been increased rapidly. So, protecting
the text from illegal use is too needed . Text watermarking is used for this purpose. Arabic text has many
characteristics such existing of diacritics , kashida (extension character) and points above or under its
letters .Each of Arabic letters can take different shapes with different Unicode. These characteristics are
utilized in the watermarking process. In this paper, several methods are discussed in the area of Arabic
text watermarking with its advantages and disadvantages .Comparison of these methods is done in term of
capacity, robustness and Imperceptibility.
New text steganography method using the arabic letters dotsnooriasukmaningtyas
With the increasing technological and electronic development, methods have been developed to hide important information using text steganography as a new technology, since it is not noticeable and easy to send and receive. The use of the Arabic language is one of the new methods used to hide data. In this work, we preview our method that depends to use the part of Arabic language properties to embed the secret English message in to cover text to create text steganography. More than half of the Arabic characters contain dots. Several characters have upper dots and others have lower dots. Some have one dot others have two dots. Few have even three dots. In this new idea, we will use the dots of charters to embed the English secret message. First, we will compress the secret message by using the 5-Bit Encoding (T5BE) to make the cover text able to embed more bits of the secret message by 37.5%. Then we start using the Arabic semantic dictionary to correct the hiding path and enhancement the stego-cover text to eliminate errors caused by switching words. In this research, we were able to extract experimental results that show that the proposed model achieves high masking accuracy in addition to the storage capacity of the cover text.

There is a lot of computer keyboard layouts in different languages were produced including Arabic keyboards. Up to date, there is no any type of keyboards which used to write holy Quran according to Uthmanic script – that is the standard script to writing Quran. In North Africa they are using special Quranic font called Al-dani. This paper focus on designing and implementing special Quranic keyboard based on Al-dani. To use this font with more accurate positioning of the diacriticals over the letters or below of them, and to achieve the optimum connectivity and kerning between the letters, distinctive type of keyboard should be used to interface with Al-dani Quranic font to facilitate Quran text writing. This paper explains the techniques used to development a keyboard interface unit for writing Quran using computer. Sample of results for using of this keyboard are presented.
A NOVEL APPROACH FOR RECOGNIZING TEXT IN ARABIC ANCIENT MANUSCRIPTSkevig
In this paper a system for recognizing Arabic ancient manuscripts is presented. The system has been divided into four parts. The first part is the image pre-processing where the text in the Arabic ancient manuscript will be recognized as a collection of Arabic characters through three phases of processing. The second part is the Arabic text analysis which consists of lexical analyzer; syntax analyzer; and semantic analyzer. The output of this subsystem is an XML file format that represents the ancient manuscript text. The third part is the intermediate text generation, in this part an intermediate presentation of the Arabic text is generated from the XML text file. The fourth part of the system is the Arabic text generation, which converts the generated text to a modern standard Arabic (MSA) language (this part has four phases: text organizer; pre-optimizer; semantics generator; and post-optimizer).

A PREPROCESSING MODEL FOR HAND-WRITTEN ARABIC TEXTS BASED ON VORONOI DIAGRAMSijcsit
In this paper, a preprocessing model for hand-written Arabic text on the basis of the Voronoi Diagrams (VDs) is presented and discussed. The proposed VD-based pre-processing model consists of five stages: a preparatory stage, page segmentation, thinning, baseline estimation, and slanting correction. In the preparatory stage, the text image is converted via VDs into a group of geometrical forms that consist of edges and vertices that are used to create the other stages of the proposed model. This stage consists of
four main processes: binarization, edge extraction and contour tracking, sampling, and point-VD construction. The second stage is the page segmentation stage based on the VD area. In the third stage, an efficient method for text structuring (that is, thinning) is presented. In the fourth stage, a novel baseline
based VD method is presented. In the fifth stage, an efficient technique for slanting detection and correction is proposed and discussed.

Off line system for the recognition of handwritten arabic charactercsandit
Recognition of handwritten Arabic text awaits accurate recognition solutions. There are many
difficulties facing a good handwritten Arabic recognition system such as unlimited variation in
human handwriting, similarities of distinct character shapes, and their position in the word. The
typical Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems are based mainly on three stages,
preprocessing, features extraction and recognition.
In this paper, we present an efficient approach for the recognition of off-line Arabic handwritten
characters which is based on structural, Statistical and Morphological features from the main
body of the character and also from the secondary components. Evaluation of the accuracy of
the selected features is made. The system was trained and tested with CENPRMI dataset. The
proposed algorithm obtained promising results in terms of accuracy (success rate of 100% for
some letters at average 88%). In Comparable with other related works we find that our result is
the highest among others.

The algorithms are tested using 47,988 isolated character sample taken from SUST/ ALT dataset and achieved better results. The pre-processing phase developed by using MATLAB software
ARABIC LANGUAGE CHALLENGES IN TEXT BASED CONVERSATIONAL AGENTS COMPARED TO TH...ijcsit
This paper is not to compare between the Arabic language and the English language as natural languages.
Instead, it focuses on the comparison among them in terms of their challenges in building text based
Conversational Agents (CAs). A CA is an intelligent computer program that used to handle conversations
among the user and the machine. Nowadays, CAs can play an important role in many aspects as this work
figured. In this paper, different approaches that can be used to build a CA will be differentiated. In each
approach, the comparison aspects among the Arabic and English languages will be debated with the
respect to the Arabic language.
SCRIPTS AND NUMERALS IDENTIFICATION FROM PRINTED MULTILINGUAL DOCUMENT IMAGEScscpconf
Identification of scripts from multi-script document is one of the important steps in the design
of an OCR system for successful analysis and recognition. Most optical character recognition
(OCR) systems can recognize at most a few scripts. But for large archives of document images
containing different scripts, there must be some way to automatically categorize these
documents before applying the proper OCR on them. Much work has already been reported in
this area. In the Indian context, though some results have been reported, the task is still at its
infancy. This paper presents a research in the identification of Tamil, English and Hindi
scripts at word level irrespective of their font faces and sizes. It also identifies English
numerals from multilingual document images. The proposed technique performs document
vectorization method which generates vectors from the nine zones segmented over the
characters based on their shape, density and transition features. Script is then determined by
using Rule based classifiers and its sub classifiers containing set of classification rules which
are raised from the vectors. The proposed system identifies scripts from document images
even if it suffers from noise and other kinds of distortions. Results from experiments,
simulations, and human vision encounter that the proposed technique identifies scripts and numerals with minimal pre-processing and high accuracy. In future, this can also be extended for other scripts.
DICTIONARY BASED AMHARIC-ARABIC CROSS LANGUAGE INFORMATION RETRIEVALcsandit
The demand for multilingual information is becoming erceptive as the users of the internet throughout the world are escalating and it creates a problem of retrieving documents in one language by specifying query in another language. This increasing demand can be addressed by designing automatic tools, which accepts the query in one language and retrieves the relevant documents in other languages. We have developed prototype Amharic-Arabic Cross Language
Information Retrieval System by applying dictionary-based approach that enables the users to retrieve relevant documents from Amharic-Arabic corpus by entering the query in Amharic and retrieving the relevant documents both Amharic and Arabic.
DEVELOPMENT OF AN ARABIC HANDWRITING LEARNING EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMIJSEA
In today many students produce a wrong and illegible handwriting and teachers need a lot of time to check
the handwriting errors. The traditional approach for handwriting teaching needs a long hours of
handwriting practice. Unfortunately, this is not advantageous in many cases. In this paper, we develop an
automated educational system for Arabic handwriting learning and detection of errors such as: the stroke
production errors, stroke sequence errors, stroke relationship errors and stroke interline errors. Then our
system can check the handwriting mistakes and immediately provide a feedback to the students to correct
themselves.
