Bugzy Malone -Gone Clear:
There was various conventions used in the music video. However in the grime scene the close ups are really important. This
is because they use close ups to show of the artists jewelry and drugs. The close up also shows the emotion of the artist
when he is “spitting bars”. The constant cuts and shaking camera shots show that the lyrics is really meant and that it is not a
slow and loving song but a rough life story.
Chip x Stormzy -Heard Dis:
The music video of these two artists is very interesting in a way that they have used different camera work and also a lot of
special effects in their music video whereas Bugzy’s music video did not really have extreme special effects.Although they
did not use drugs in their music video they still. The music video links in well with the lyrics and footage.In the music video
you can hear Chip starting lyrical war with the other artist Bugzy Malone. The large number of long shots in the music video
is there to show off that both artists are important.
3. Camera Work

The music video used various shots ranging from close ups to long shots. They made a good choice with the shots used.
This is because the close ups really showed Bugzy’s face emotions. The mid shots lets us see some of the environment that
bugzy is in at specific moments. The longshots show the whole environment and also in most of the clips it shows all the
other people in the background doing something.

really stood out were the mid shots and long shots. The mid shot was used a lot during the music video. This was used to

The music video had lots of editing. It was really fast paced. The shots kept on cutting in and out continuously and this made
fast pace effect. Most of the shots are cut to Bugzy’s face to show his feelings and also there is a lot of focus on the drugs.
There is a blur effect on the drugs which suggest that he is no longer into drugs and he is changing and therefore the title of
the song “Gone Clear”. This title suggests that he is going clear with drugs and no longer wants to either take or deal them.

The music video was fairly similar to Bugzy’s music video because of the fast shots. However in Chips music video there was
a lot more different editing such as the use of many special effects like the thermal vision shots.The use of titles flashing in
and out during the music video is very good.
5. Genre

In the Grime genre there is usually a lot of drugs and good cars. However Bugzy Malone Gone Clear music video shows that
he wants to stop with drugs. We can see this during the music video when the drugs are blurred out. Unlike other grime
songs Bugzy did not go into cursing other grime artists and just basically talked about his life which both the scenery and the
lyrics linked together.

In Chips music video himself and stormzy are wearing the typical clothing that most grime artists wear which is a Nike or
Adidas Hoodie and tracksuit bottoms. The lyrics is all about other grime artists and how they start to curse other grime artists

and that he is trying to make it better by going clear. The performance in the music video is mainly Bugzy Malone lyrically
explaining his life. The use of drugs and other props make the music video more touching and more effective towards the
audience. The music video is trying to hit you hard emotionally as he is trying to tell the audience what it was like for him.

The music video shows the grime artists Chip and Stormzy just moving around the skate park and rapping. Their emotions
were shown of by their by body postures

The representation in the music video Gone Clear by Bugzy Malone shows Bugzy being surrounded by drugs and money.
This is shown almost everywhere in the music video. The use of drugs and lots of money shows that he is a drug dealer and
therefore showing that he went down a bad path in his life. ‘Gone Clear’ also suggests that he has succeeded and this is
relatable to the youth as they want to succeed like him because he is their role model.

The Skate park connotes youth, there is a lot of graffiti in the background stereotyping the youngsters. The Adidas and Stone
Island clothing are both generic conventions as they are stereotyping the youth. This type of clothing and the scenery both
suggest the gang like culture.

Grimey Limey which was founded by Charlie Sloth. The music video is of Grime genre and it is featured on Bugzy’s album

Chip is signed to Cash Motto which was founded by Chipmunk himself. The music video is of Grime genre and it is featured
on Chip’s album called Hear Dis-Extended Play EP
9. Values and Ideology
Bugzy Malone - Gone Clear
The values and ideology of this music video is all about drugs and this shows constant reference of drugs it shows that they
are acceptable as if they should have a legal status.The drugs are clearly shown in the video. The word ‘clear’ in the title also
means that he succeeded in his life.
Chip x Stormzy - Hear Dis
The values and ideology of the music video Hear Dis by Chip and Stormzy vary. This is because they are only shown in the
skatepark which stereotypes the youth and also the BMX Bikes in the background also represent younger people who tend
to follow this kind of genre of music.Their clothing shows a lot about them as they make other kids who watch them get
inspired and they then want to be like them therefore they go out and buy the same clothing.
